@Janusha - It may be the Vette I saw at Santa Pod in the late 70's early 80's. At that time these cars didn't have the respect they have now, and a lot of cars were 'customised' !! I remember the one I saw had a big block moved right back into the passenger seat area (as much weight to rear as possible for easy wheelies!) and was clearly visible (no engine cover) - poor driver! floorpan had cut outs to see down track with individual rear wheel brakes to steer. A novelty that has worn badly!!

@Janusha its more than weights, the motor is back there. if you listen to the announcer you will hear "Hemi-under Glass" which was a wheel-standing cuda. Its for a purpose, and they did not ruin the car.
