It's nothing to do with being loved. It's nothing to do with equality. It's all about taking a big hard one straight up the ass ... pure & simple !! Selfish git. I wish I had a quid for every time an American put his face on youtube & proclaimed he should be treated as 'normal' ... I could personally fund the next mission to Mars :)
This was the cutest thing I ever did see! Made me feel all warm and fuzzy inside! I live in Canada but still, makes me happy to see a smile on your face! And for such important reasons!
Your video is great. I had the privilege of being present in the NYS Senate chamber during the vote on Marriage Equality. Your video reminded me of that night and brought a little tear to my eye. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life. My husband and I just hugged and cried in each others arms. I did tweet the entire experience, so feel free to follow me (@ChrisHayesNY) and read through my tweets from that night.

Well I am gay and I think all the pride shit and thinking you aren't equal is just stupid. Keep what you do behind your closed doors!! Oh yeah and he had to just do the video with his shirt off UGH!!
Keith! you make my heart smile =) I am proud to be an American because there are so many different people and ideas here. I have faith that equality will spread across the nation when I see people like you sharing how important it is to you. It's important to all of us, we just have to remind one another
Keith, I'm proud to be an American because we are headed in the right direction. A hundred years from now, they'll look back and wonder why we weren't always equal. :-)
Bud, you bring tears of joy to my eyes! We ARE changing this. New York is a major piece on the road to full equality for all of us, and you should indeed be proud. Good job. Keep bringing this kind of love to your activism and you can move mountains!
And for all you naysers: yes, DOMA is a big effin problem but quit complaining and start acting like citizens who know how it is going to be, not how it's been. With a spouse of 17 years, I need to hear what YOU are doing to make change!
Bud, you bring tears of joy to my eyes! We ARE changing this. New York is a major piece on the road to full equality for all of us, and you should indeed be proud. Good job. Keep bringing this kind of love to your activism and you can move mountains!
Many Americans are still discriminated against outside your state and we still feel "less than". So, I'm not proud to live in a country that does that to me.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but because of the Defense of Marriage Act, you and any other gay couples who choose to get married in NYC are NOT EQUAL. You have no access to the many federal benefits available to straight couples, no immigration rights, no right to file in federal court for bankruptcy, and on and on and on. The battle is in no way won.
@wollam11 , no, he acts like the lives of 19 million people were made a little bit better. Like many western countries, the US is a place where this can happen. And that's worth being proud of. Even if I'm not from there.
Yay. Beautiful sentiment! You are entirely justified to be excited and proud of your state and our country. In one month, my husband and I will be celebrating our *seventh* wedding anniversary in Boston. (Can you believe it could even be that long?) And yeah. These in these past seven years, I do feel so much more loved and recognized as equal by so many more people. It's about time that a great number of people in NY will be able to start on that journey soon too.
Thanks Keith! I am married in Massachusetts and I am very proud of my state being the first in our nation. I would like to be in Manhattan on 07/24/11 to show my support and take part in history. Is there a plan to counter-rally NOM's protest?
I'm proud to be an American because we live in a country where guys can make videos like this without fear of retribution! More importantly, that they are doing it while wearing a Tiger's cap! :-)
I'm not American, but I am so pleased to see the equal rights we here in Canada enjoy. I only hope that all Americans will get the same rights. Continue the fight my American friends!
I'm proud to be an American because at 56 the protests and Marches I attended led to the vote and a young American understands how special it is. Marriage and its restrictions aren't part of my dream of sexual liberation, but I'm glad that for those of you for whom it is, you can now live it, encumbered only by its inherent difficulties! I wore a T-Shirt in my March on Washington that read, "Don't let our love scare you!" And now, we can see it does not.
what's wrong is you...scary that people like you still exist in 2011.......you are now in the minority in this country and soon you will see the whole country recognize that ALL people are equal and LOVE will prevail over all.......you can still change......it's not too late for anyone to see through their own ignorance. :>) xo
@DewdSrslyy At least he knows how to spell and use proper grammar. Apparently you have been on drugs to long.. You must be a person that believes "Ignorance is bliss" aren't you? Good luck living a life like that.
@keithjinternet Just keep that thought. It's humbling and will save you from the pain of heartache, of loving someone and to love all for what they are: like you, wanting life full of love and sharing the experiences it brings.
If life has setbacks do not fear. Ask for love from others that, like you, understand it. It is a gift. All will be fine.Never regret for asking for help. Someone will be there. Just love.
You made me smile :) Hope you find that special someone so you can take advantage of this wonderful right. x

Honestly, is the fact that only six of the fifty states in the USA (twelve percent) recognize same sex marriage, something to be proud of?
Especially since ten other entire countries have already reached full equality!
I have no problem with you declaring yourself a proud american, but its equality record is not what it should be based on.
Homophobia still has a shocking grip on the so called leader of the free world!
