It's never really been confirmed or denied for SquareEnix. They've just said it would take a long time. I personally think they will remake it...in time. Maybe on the next console. There's just too much support for it and they're constantly being hounded about it. The fans are there. The money is there. The support is there. There's very little reason to not make it. I personally think if they do make it we won't know about it until the bomb is dropped that it'll be available soon, or something.

@filosofiamanga It would probably only be $60 in America since games seem to have a set price there. But they make games a bit more expensive in Japan when they first come out, depending on popularity. I play Japanese versions, so I have to pay a little bit more. I'll pay however much it ends up being, because I know it won't be too unreasonable. Unless they come out with a collector's edition that's like $200, then I'll just get the normal edition. All I want is the game itself ;) HOPING!

Actually the PS store released the orignal 1997 for download. So if you have a psp, you can play the game no problem (for a small fee of course) But oh well... after years of holding out, waiting... I've finally came to the conclusion that it'll never be made. So I sate my VII cravings elsewhere. Apparantly SE believes in order to remake it we fans demand billions of dollars be put into it which is why they refuse to remake it, since they don't think they can meet our expectations. Not an ff7 diehard fanboy (but I still think cloud is awesome) but I believe they will announce an ff7 remake when most of their major projects are finished. Think about it, if they know that ff7 was their most famous ff game and they released a tech demo, they would want fans to first buy their new titles before they announce this. If they announced it too early it would make the poorer people wait just for this game without trying games such as ff13 versus (that is if it ever gets released :P)

all you do in ff is walk around with a fancy background you cant interact with than running into a fight sitting there and pressing buttons. theres no creativity to FF. unlike zelda or mario for example which those games just seem so much bigger compared to final fantasy cause the levels are HUGE compared to final. these games always is and always will be owned by nerds who want to get their dick wet by these anime girls. ff fanboys give REAL video game fans a bad name for there nerdyness

LOL, hoho. Final Fantasy deals with more on tactics and strategy while in battle, at the same time the FF franchise has its own subtle type of essence that you have to experience it first-hand. I played hours of just Final Fantasy 7 alone and never got all those special items and attacks as I see in other video game-play. It also provides a predictive programming of what is going on in our society from Shinra being a merger of government and corporation and sucking the planet dry.

Apparantly SE believes in order to remake it we fans demand billions of dollars be put into it which is why they refuse to remake it, since they don't think they can meet our expectations. They also believe we want to rehash Chrono Trigger, we're not fond of anything before FF7, we want sequels to be about the female leads dressed as prostitutes, Vagrant Story doesn't garner a sequel, etc, etc.
You're great SE and all, but how well do you really know your fans?

This is just the stupid demo to test the PS3 before it release, which lie and gave us hope of the remake. Square claim that they have no plan to remake the FFVII. Man, they really still don't understand its customer. I truly believe if this masterpiece remake, it'll sell at least 1.5x or even 2x of the sale of FFXIII. (I can't believe how boring is the FFXIII) I missed the old style fighting system of the Final Fantasy.

The scene from Crisis Core is different.
It is similar, but it doesn't have all the add ons,
like Cloud jumping off of the train.
also, the one from Crisis Core, Cloud says,

Square Enix hasn't denied that they were gonna remake final fantasy 7, but they are working on ff 14 and other projects, so don't get your hopes up.

I don´t know if someone wrote it before BUT
There are some rumors that Motomu Toriyama (Director of FF XIII) would love to make a remake of FF VII.
He said that if there are enough co-workers and enough time he would love to make the remake ^^
So this statement is a kind of hope for us ^^
After all Final Fantasy already celebrated his 20th Anniversary so I think it is really possible that they would make a remake after this statement of Motomu Toriyama ^^

FF7 has got this HUGE reputation for being one of the best RPG games out there and if that then alot of people i'm sure would go off FF...I've said before that i would like FF7 to be remade EXACTLY the same on PS3 just with better graphics, but with watching this vid...i would rather play the PS1 version, the graphics were amazing for its time anyway...if that guy gets hold of a new FF, it's gonna be crappy =F

Just a demo, and a later adaption of it for the Crisis Core game.

Not an ff7 diehard fanboy (but I still think cloud is awesome) but I believe they will announce an ff7 remake when most of their major projects are finished. Think about it, if they know that ff7 was their most famous ff game and they released a tech demo, they would want fans to first buy their new titles before they announce this. If they announced it too early it would make the poorer people wait just for this game without trying games such as ff13 versus (that is if it ever gets released :P)
