This is so cool this is what I want to do when I get into the program this or photopass photographer !! I see you have alot of pictures with the characters but which one were you attending ???
@ElizaShakiraMassani You attend all of them. At least that was how it was when I was in the program. One day I'd be with Belle, the next day with Timon, the next day with Donald Duck, etc. It depended on the location I was scheduled. I haven't been there since 2007, though, so I have heard that College Program participants are starting to be scheduled in one set location. I could be wrong though.
@snowaeris thats cool i hope when i go this fall or next fall i get to be with all of them that would be cool hey do you remeber how training was like how did it work
I'm not sure what you mean. I was in the Disney College Program which got me in for a semester. I was then able to be seasonal. There weren't any requirements, with the exception of being in college at the time.
It depends on what type of Entertainment. There's basic...which is just character greeting, then there's the step up which is Princess/Prince, etc, then there's parade and show pay, and then there's something called Equity which is paid really well so I've heard. I'm not actually sure what the rate is now, but college students usually get minimum wage.
As for other high paying jobs...usually you have to work your way up.
The program was AMAZING...it was a lot of working, but also a lot of hanging out with friends, in the parks, and around Orlando. I certainly made time for socializing as well as working. Good luck at your audition!
It's from the Magic Kingdom parades and shows soundtrack. It's Dream Along With Mickey. I know they sell it in the parks but I'm not sure where else you'd find it.
Unfortunately you do have to provide your own transportation to get there to the program, but once you are there you can take their sponsored buses anywhere pretty much. People flew there, took a train, drove, etc but you have to arrange it yourself.
Depending on your location they actually supply one for you. For my job, I was issued a black baseball cap. For all outdoor locations they usually have a head covering available. You are required to wear a Disney-issued one not one of your own though.
One last questions for ya if you don't mind, you're extremely helpful! Around how many hours a week do you work as a Character Attendant? And are you allowed to have a camera with you to take pictures? Just wondering how you captured all these moments while at work :)
(sorry for the delayed response) I worked between 32-40 hrs/wk (that's most college program hours). I did bring my camera with me on most days, but we aren't allowed to take pictures "backstage". It also depends on the character, your management, and anyone else around you if they'll let you take pictures. I usually just carried my camera with me and then when no guests were around I had a quick snap of a photo!
That was cool! I want to do the entertainment program too, but I want to be the one in the costume!! Did you do the character costumes too or just go with the characters?
I was there 4 1/2 months. I occasionally go back and work my job though. If you love Disney at all it's pretty easy to get accepted. Good Luck whenever you decide to go!

I was just their attendant. We're all in "entertainment" but they seperate the characters and the attendants.
