  • I really enjpy watching your videos. good job.

  • Brah, she went HARVARD (notice da video title) and got a medical degree!! Geez, she's a doctor!!! If you can dance so much better than da sistah then good for you guys... now all you need to do is go Harvard and get one degree too..

  • "your" bands actually mean something in many other cultures. so research hunny. ur culture isn't any better than anyone elses.

  • Fo all you negative people. deah waz nutting wrong wit da dance so shut up yo face.

  • You did good. Just keep practicing and do what you need to do. Don't listen to haters out there. They aren't worth your time.

  • i think she did good. regardless if she's polynesian or not. i think its flattering to the culture when other people like to learn and practice their traditions.

  • You don't have to be Tahitian to enjoy dancing Tahitian ... but this girl doesn't have the spirit or the force of a Polynesian dancer. She looks like she practices a lot, though - I always respect people who work hard.

  • I don't understand why you guys are so offended. What if we know what the markings mean? What if we know the culture well and enjoy it. i like the way you represent your culture by being assholes about everything.

  • malie @tongabutterfly its beyond me how many asians there are that dance for different types of poly group..i feel its good to enjoy our culture and love it! thats great..but when some of you asians start inking your body with our sacred designs and bands is offensive...Those bands means something..shows where youre from, what family you belong to, its our culture and the history of our people and to you..its a design of a culture you WILL never be ..you guys dont get it

  • she's definitely not a beginner--her moves take more time/skill to perform.

  • Sheesh. Some of you are so mean. How do you know that she isn't a beginner? What if she's only been doing it for a little while? You act like everyone in Tahiti is just born a proffessional. That's almost as bad as people who dress like cowboys just cuz they're from Texas. And who cares if she's asian. I see polynesians wearing clothing invented by white men all the time.

  • she doesn't even look Polynesian.. what nationality is she....??

  • @kabarara She does not look polynesian because she isn't. The girl is Asian. Even at my school during talent shows Asian girls are always trying to do polynesian dances. I have no clue why some Asians try to claim that they are Hawaiian, not saying that this girl is but the some of the ones born i Hawaii are always trying to stress that they were born there.

  • wow, you guys are so mean. that was really good. id like to see you assholes get out there and do that!

  • wow great job, ur s graceful

  • it wasnt too good;

it was like % .5 away from being "ok"

it was kinda crappy not to sound mean, but yah it was kinda crappy.

  • wow ur all dumb (haterz i mean)...I thought she did well. You don't like the dance, don't linger long enuff to leave a stupid comment. I say girl, WELL DONE!!!

  • hollywoodhula: your culture? um, are you even tahitian?

  • Real Tahitian dancers grind even HARDER than her (her farapus are so-so). If you think that's a horny dance then you have INSULTED the Tahitian culture. You ignorant fool!!!

  • omggg that was goood!!! goo girll =D

  • what a little dirty, dirty dancer....

  • your really good!

i wanna learn that dance someday =)

  • awesome! keep it up! =]

  • thanks nakitulo! you are my idol ;)

  • ur welcome! =]

  • to be honest i truely believe that she is half half..... her legs are far apart from each other, but shes still doing a great job...her hands are abit messy, but at least shes trying to make up her mistakes by keep on dancing ad smiling

i am a tahition too, so i should know how my cultral island dances

  • Fanaura: thanks for the feedback! I agree with you about my legs far apart and sloppy hands. that's why vids are good, u can watch yourself and analyze your mistakes. will try to work on it for the next time i dance (which prob won't be for years, unfortunately :(

  • hey girl you did good.. just keep practicing!!!

  • um i thought the dance was great but the thing that caught my eye was that you kept repeating the same steps just on different sides so try to add vairety

  • im half tahitian and half samoan, and you are really great, shake them haters off!!!

  • aaah, ur just mean. she's all giving it her all, and probably real excited about her performance which is why she put it on u tube and ur just gonna trash her efforts. u might scar her.

  • Dear lkapuaala: Thanks for the comments and constructive feedback! Don't worry I'm not scared of the haters, they can hate all they want but I'm still gonna be dancing. It is sad that there are disproportionately more "prima-donna drama queens" among female Tahitian dancers. You usually never see such hateful remarks among Hula dancers. I wonder why that is. * Sigh *

  • i just dont get it. if ur good then that should keep u happy right? why be rude to those u find less experienced then u. there r things im really talented at but u dont see me putting down ppl that arnt up to par. ppl r so funny.

  • geeze guys shes probably just new dont need to be such a-holes, i've been dancing since i was eight and i say she wasnt that bad. i've seen alot worse. her shoulders and upper body was under control and she had good hip movment, all in all i say she was pretty good. just gotta work on improving ur runtine hun, those guys are probably just bored.

  • not bored perfectionist!!!! and if you were dancing since you were eight you would know that she was so damn sloppy

  • Dear cher2yblos2oms: While my skills are obviously not going to win me any Tahitian competitions, I have no "shame" about my dancing. So SORRY you are just gonna have to deal with it as I keep dancing for fun! I also find it ironic that the most spiteful comments come from people like you who won't even put up their own dance vids.

  • i thnk she did a gud job she is not the best but she did really gud

  • im a tahitian dancer and im sorry but u were just making the whole dance up, i can see where ur flaws are and ur not consistant with the motions...thats how ppl get hurt, by doing things they dont know the meaning of... when the pahu drums are playing u have to know what the story is (listen to what the pahu drums are telling u) not just cause the beat is fast or slow thats how ur going to move ur hips...noooooooo listen to the story of the pahu drums!! dodo head oh yea and KA PILINA is wrong to

  • Dear greenbottlequeen: 'a'ohe pau ka 'ike i ka halau ho'okahi.

  • Very good! I like how you dance gracefully!

  • Whoa! You're really good! I wanna learn how to dance like that. *applause*

  • Can you tell me the name of that cd. I also tahitian and thats a great song and you do it well.

  • Song Title: Drummer's Symphony

Album Title: Drum Beats of the Pacific, Vol. 2

  • Most impressive :)

  • It's fantastic, I dancer another choreography but that same song, I congratulate you from Mexico, city.

Es exelente, me encanta como bailas, eres muy elegante.

  • The name of this song is called Drummer's Symphony.

  • cool, thanks, do you know who the artist is?

  • yes, ah do. haha the artist is Drum Beats of the Pacific. . . . i looked it up on myspace haha.

btw, you are soooo good at tahitian. i'm always tryna copy you in front of my mirror.. but somehow it jst doesn't wrk out haha.

  • dang! you hella good!

i am good too but not as good as u lol

  • What is the name of this song I've heard it a while back and have been looking for it for a long time, but I don't know the name of it. Can you help me please what is the name of the song?

  • DAT WAZ DA BEST 1 I HAVE WATCHED LOLZ :]]

  • Real Meahn..

Dat was real k0ol..ive always wanted tah learn how tah Hula,But Aftah watching that,i think ill pass.lol

U Shake Those Hips GaL....Show dem Haters How its Done!!..

  • That was awesome!!!! That looks like a work out and you smiled all the way through! Try to keep up with your dancing even though you are on your way to becoming a doctor. You've got it all: beauty, brains, and talent. A minority of people don't like to see the good in people, get jealous and try to put them down. However, as you can see, most of us seeing your video are well wishers, so try to focus on the good.

  • OK I'm impressed. No, I'm not an expert, so I miss some of the things others are commenting on (there was something wrong with the duck walk?). But I sure know I couldn't do it.

And the whole ethnic thing: STFU, haters. I'm perfectly happy to see black guys Irish step dancing or Polynesians dancing bharatanatyam or Swedes dancing kpanlogo or anything else.

  • yay! i've just started to learn but now i am stuck on the mainland again. i really enjoyed watching you.

  • WHOA. do you shake your hips in an eight or a circle.

  • circle

  • *claps* go head girl keep doin yo thing! and DON'T worry bout these lil kids hatin on u dat juz mean ur EXTRA good if u makin dem dat jealous

  • I AGREE! Great Job!

  • Noelani,This is simply one man's opinion:You have definite potential, even if hips were off beat a tad.Your arms and hands move in a very fluid way.GREAT! I can see you have what it takes!! maybe just get the quick violent hip shake parts synched a little more and the duck walk. IGNORE the cultural BS too.I'm a "Haole" of Scottish decent, and I auditioned for a toere spot in a "Polynesian" dance group, and was chosen to play, and then learned from Coco's Maeva(Tahitian group)

  • beautiful!

    im jealous

  • nice

  • You are so good!

  • U did a good Job

  • whats the name of the song??? btw ure a great dacner :D

  • are you sure she not asian not fob

  • that was really good ... very cute that ur smiling the whole time good job

  • I thought you did pretty good. I'm sick and tired of seeing comments from people sayin "YOU SUCK" or "I COULD DO BETTER". REAL hula students from REAL halaus practice humility, and know that it is wrong to disrespect another dancer. If only their Kumus knew that they were talking smack online about other haumana. They are just putting their halaus to shame everytime they disrespect another dancer.

  • Amen, I totally agree with you kgsilverio. Where's the aloha? Some people just don't GET IT.

  • ur really good.

  • very nice, i enjoyed the choreography of your dance! well done.

  • OMG!!! You are sooooooooooo good!!!!

  • good job! i used to dance too..

  • Amazing :O

    X

  • This is a very SEDUCTIVE TAMURE, very captivating, mesmering and amazing.

  • your better than some girls that i seen.. good job

  • oh man, I do the hula but not as good as you just did

  • amazing. captivating performance. 5/5 stars.

  • Hey! your hecka good, Ahha.

    What's the song you used?

  • you should compete solo at the san jose fete.

  • btw. i knw i'm a bit late buuuut. 'glamor' is jst jealous cause she can't do NUTHIN like that! AHAH.

  • ooh. woooooow. jeez you are SO so good! woooow. i hope i can be as good as you someday =] good job! freaaaals yo ;]

  • whoa! that was like so freakin amazing!

  • whats this beat called?

  • that was good.... i love this beat haha...

  • I throughly enjoyed that. That girl can move those hips!!

  • omg ur a perve!!!

  • hawaiigurl: definition of a "perv" is someone who corrupts what is good or puts something into improper use. Given your "potty mouth" comments on my other vids, I would have to say that you are much more of a pervert than I am. Hope you can find a cure for your terrible mouth disease, I hear it's contagious. Good luck finding a date someday. :)

  • lol. noelani82, you tell her. shes just jealous. your very graceful and thats what its all about. dont listen to the haters, cause their everywhere. just do your thing cause your a really good hula dancer. Malo

    C A V A L L i

  • Here's what I tell my kids after competition. Did you have fun? Did you try your hardest? Then it doesn't matter if you were the best or the worst dancer out there. The reason they dance is to share thier love. I thought you did great!

  • The name of the album is Drum Beats of the Pacific Vol. 2 by Hula Records. On the cd case is says if you send $1.00 they will send you a catalog. The address is Hula Records 2290 Alahao Place Honolulu Hawaii 96819-2283 (808) 847-4608 fax (808) 847-4609. I got my copy at Hilo Hatties at the Block in Orange.

  • hey yall well comming from me a cookislander that danced pretty much all her life your pretty good. if ya eva need tips just hollah and yeah i help. !!

  • Well! After reading all these comments..

You dance beautifully, great improv(xmas decor!!), and the sweet humble heart of a true islander!

    much love!

  • just better than shakira my favorite dancer !!!

  • Whats the song called?

  • it doesnt matter how fast you shake its if your shaking the right way an you have great form very graceful thats ok if you didnt go fast your performance was very good great job

  • hola!,mi nombre es rosa y soy de chile...

muy lindo tu baile...me gusta mucho la musica

    polinesica...

  • hey i just wanted to say that you did a pretty good job! I miss Tahitian...I've gotten stiff :(. I like how your hip shaking movements are so fluid even if you're not the fastest shaker out there! but hey...better than me!

  • how do you make that kind of hip piece? =)

  • haha, omg you don't want to know. it's a pretty ghetto costume. the hip band is from xmas garland and safety pinned. but it works, when you're stuck in boston and a broke, busy, student.

  • Wow, just been reading all the comments and it's crazy like the better the dancing, the worst the comments... Not only you dance great, with a great smile on your face the whole time, but your way of answering to all these people that know all better than others is impressive as well... Some people are really (fucking) ridiculous... lol :) Keep going ;)

  • what is this song called?

  • Obviously someone(GLAMOROUS) is gettin all hystericcal here..Ok stop hatin n keep ur filthy comments to urself..save the drama plz..theres more than enuff on this God forsaken planet...sheesh

  • can u do it!!!

  • who the fuck r u??

  • someone that asked u a fuckin question!!!!!

  • GLAMOUR: Wow, I thought I left you speechless after your first comment, but you must have been REALLY impressed to come back a whole month later to write this 2nd comment. I am so flattered, why thank you. ;)

  • hi!

  • GLAMOUR: aw, i'm sorry i got you all upset and riled up. life must be so hard for you. please take care of yourself. bye now, thanks for watching!

  • wow way to be tactful!

  • thanks!!

  • GLAMOUR: (sorry, not to get your hopes up, but I believe Yanipooh was referring to me and my earlier comment to you, just a hunch, ya know?)

  • dang.......just get over yourself and leave her alone.

  • that comment was to GLAMOUR..........

  • no!! k!! she aint droppin it. why should i?? she's ackin all innocent!!

  • i am learnin how to do that and it's hard.... but that was great!!

  • Nice Farapu just try to keep your foots closed

  • you did okay...at least u lasted for as long as the song was but i really didn't understand what kind of moves u were tryna do...good try i guess

  • ahh your did an awsome job.. funny i did a dance to this song as well, but our teacher never told us the name of it.. i was wondering if you knew the name of this song

  • the title of the song file i have is "drummer's symphony." but i think its a fairly popular song, so i wouldn't be surprised if different people call it different titles?

  • i like ur shaking style very nice and ur so calm... i Love to shake fast and i get so caught up in that cuz it's my strong point...

  • You're a beautiful dancer!! I think you look fabulous.

  • uummm....

  • anyone know where to find this song? please email me... vin_duenas@hotmail. com... i like it. nice performance!!!

  • Great solo! Do u bend your knees a lot when you do your fa'arapus?

  • I think you did a good job on your solo. You did the best with what you got. I know the difficulty dancing any polynesian dance (hula, tahitian, etc..) while on the mainland that does not have a lot of quality resources to turn to. I moved back to Hawaii from Oregon about 4 years ago and was very frustrated at how much I wanted to dance and learn but there wasn't a lot of people to turn to who had the mana'o in Oregon.

  • what it the song that you used?

great job, i'm going to teach this to my students :)

  • good try with the duck walk. that is the hardest move for me to do. question: Do your toes ever get caught underneath ur foot when ur trying to do it? idk maybe its just me and my technique...

  • yea i totally get that problem. i find it is better when i lift my body higher off the ground? not sure if that makes sense? but yea, i taught myself the duck walks, so i'm sure my technique is wrong too.

  • Thats a very good performance and your very beautiful. Hope your still dancing. Good luck. :)

  • your inexperience does show, but I give you credit for even getting up and dancing in front of people, not much could do that. keep up the practice I'm sure you'll get the timing down along with the faster shake =)

  • thanks! yea unfortunately i think i'm doomed to never improve. i stopped dancing formally, 10 years ago. and i don't know when i'll have the time to get back to it. i just do what i can on my own, for fun. any tips you can offer would be appreciated too! :)

  • nice dancing, lovely; does have an extra historical dimension with those eleganat eighteenth-century style windows in the background. So Georgian !

    Cheers

    from

    del.

  • well done!

  • Hey!!!! i love that otea and the coreography.... wat's the song name? does anybody know?

  • Hi! I think it's a fairly popular song. The person who gave it to me titled it "Drummer's Symphony." But I'm sure it's called other names by other people...

  • Dou you have msn? Can you give it to me so we can chat and share tahitian music?

  • cute outfit...we did this song at my schools luau..i think its called otea

  • Wow, now this video should be the one called "advanced" very impressive. Good job girl, now this is must me your most popular video.

  • lol, yea i learned the duck walks by myself without any guidance. so it's probably not quite right. but, i doubt my "asianness" has anything to do with this. the fact that i'm actually "part-Polynesian" by blood doesn't either. bottom line is, i'm not just not an experienced dancer, i'm too busy with school.

  • I'm "not" an experienced dancer. typo, my mistake. lol.

  • ur part polynesian?? dats the first. usually 'polynesians' say im samoan or hawaiian... what are u??

  • lol, i didn't specify. it was more a response to the "non-polynesians can't dance" vibe that some haters have. I'm part Native Hawaiian. And Hawaiians don't say stupid stuff like that to people. Hah. Ethnicity should have nothing intrinsic to do with an ability to dance. It's just correlation.

  • actually it does. :P

  • haha, show me a double-blind random controlled trial study first. otherwise, it's all correlation. not necessarily causation. (ie: being samoan may cause you to be exposed at an earlier age to samoan dance and have better teachers and thus make you a good samoan dancer. whereas if you were samoan and raised in mainland with no exposure to culture, you'd still probably suck at samoan dancing even if you are samoan by blood).

  • exactly! depends on ur parents not where u live. but u see u claim to be hawaiian so ur not tahitian. down here in hawaii there like two different culture. u probably think that just cuz they fall under the same catergorie, POLYNESIAN, its the same. ur so called "HAWAII CLUB" is showing tahitian dances which is not hawaiian, so ur selling ur culture out. come sista! u shoukd know dis! alohas brah!! ;)

  • not sure if you understood: i think upbringing is most important, not genes. I understand your frustration with people getting cultures mixed up, I'm always correcting people on the difference between hula and Tahitian on the mainland. Sorry if you got the wrong impression from this video. Most of the dances featured were hula auana. This is just one small segment of the entire show. The MC's were careful to distinguish the different types of Polynesian dances featured. e malama pono - Noe

  • you did pretty good, and i think that's all anyone who isn't a professional can really say. people just hate because they can. go figure. they like arguing. lol.......

  • i will however say that i disagree with the focus of your argument: "ethnicity should have nothing to do with an ability to dance". i don't think the argument against you was on the correlation between ethnicity and the ability to dance, moreover who has ownership over the dance, culturally. now, unless anyone here is tahitian themselves, they don't really have a say in the matter. that's all.

  • ah, cultural ownership, that's a tricky topic. i remember there was a big debate over the lilo and stitch movie, on cultural/intellectual copy rights over the traditional hawaiian chants used. understandable that people are upset, but in practicality, what can be done? i dunno, that's tough, it's a slippery slope. thanks for sharing your thoughts!

  • thank you!

  • thank u!

  • thank you!!

  • Dear no,

it is always best to ignore comment like these, they have no end to them; or just agree with the person (without adding to it).

I have a friend who has done and Egyptian Belly dancing class, it is true that ability to learn this or ballet or Norwegian Language, has nothing to do with ones parents; except, if they can pay for your tuition for you, from a young age.

Are you the dancer in the pictures? if so you dance well.

    from

    del-boy

  • i bet u she can shake better than u

  • It looks good, i don't really know the technicalities of Tahitian dance. But it looks really good, i love the booty shaking, lol some day i shall learn how to do that, lol. Must be a real good work out. Anyway congrats, you looked great.
