Watch the video again, Kelleher collides with Matfield's shoulder, so there was no use of Matfield "reinforced arm guard". ANd anyway- IRB officials check each player for any fould play before a match, a fibre-glass (or steel plate) would have been picked up immediately and would have led to a hefty ban i think

@25pappy thats nonsense my man, there is no feasible source to such hearsay. Matfield is simply the greatest lock of all time. Kevin Putt, an ex Sharks coach started the rumour, which was laughed off by both the Springboks and NZRU. Later, Putt offered an unconditiontional apology to Victor - stating that he (Putt) never meant for it to come across as it did. The most feasible reason for Matfield's arm guard is that he has broken it (twice). I dont see Matfield as a "dirty" player, ie Bakkies
