  • This is NOT a tube amp.

  • @janderson2000 I know, it's a tube compressor.

  • @janderson2000 Yeah, it is a tube amp. It clearly says on the amp "tube inside." The part with speakers is called a cabinet, not an amp.

  • @mitchelljpurdy The power stage is solid state. Again, this is not a genuine tube amp.

  • not a fan of markbass, over rated not worth the money

  • @aliensunderground What would you recommend?

  • is the korg tuner built-in and sold together in the markbass set?

  • how much watt?

  • Are you using a pick?

  • Lovely. Simply lovely.

  • 'Vintage Loudspeaker Emulator'

    'Variable Pre-shape Filter'

It says it right there in the video.

  • hey, im totally new to all the bass stuff, its my second intrument apart from, harp, altough i like to play rock like rhcp on my bass, and want to do a lot of slapping.

now im stuck with a shitty giuitar 25 watt amplifier, although i was looking to get a second hand big rig that will be great for the rrest of my basstime :)

do you have any idea what would be good? thanx! ---nice vid btw!

  • holy crap

  • U are so lucky to have that AMP bro seriously.

  • Im new at amps and this might be a Really dumb question but my combo amp has no gain knob and I play metal so could I put a Head on it?

  • @TayThrash077 most likely not. What you could do is by a distortion pedal. I play with a VT bass pedal it can dial in plenty of gain plus it doubles as a preamp so that might be what you're looking for. MXR makes another good distortion pedal and you should also check out big muff pi.

  • thanx

  • can u play the bass without amp?

i am just asking cuz i just have money enought to buy a bass...

BY THE WAY... what's the cost of an amp?

  • @guinasaw an electric bass, no. can't have one without the other. If you're on a budget, you'll have to probably settle for less expensive equipment. Markbass makes awesome stuff, but they're a wee bit pricey, and buying expensive shit when you're starting out is kind of useless anyway. Fender, peavey, acoustic, crate, etc. make decent smaller combo amps that will give you what you need for now.

  • these are so expensive and no better then an ashdown or ampeg set, your lame

  • no better than ashdown? are you deaf?

  • Ashdown is shit

  • @canvoodoo well said every orther bass player i know gets chubby off of them i prefer orange there quality but these sound amazing but a bit too pricey

  • @piledriver89 I dont think there are mant amps out there that are any good that dont cost. I paid 1350 for my EBS 210 but worth every penny

  • @canvoodoo yea i guess you get what you pay for i recently just got an orange amp, but if i had the money id gety a mark bass or an ampeg

  • @canvoodoo bad or good shit? ;)

  • @canvoodoo

what's shit about ashdown? I experienced the Mag series to be really good in it's price range and I prefer the sound of it over the cheap Hartke and Gallien Krueger Amps. I don't know about the top range models but the mag's are obviously for starters

  • Is that a 3 or a 4u rack case?

  • 3. It's a Gatorcase.

  • @dmy986 …and you put a tuner in it too. Smart!

  • Best bass amp for under $250?

  • @zOMGpokemon no chance these are dear as fuck amps

  • Whats the song playing in the back ground at the start?

  • Breyland - Better Than

    google and youtube them

  • Thanks man! Its a nice song!

  • I'm curious as to what the hell to buy amp-wise. there are so many cabs and so many heads it's daunting. hopefully i'll find something with a nice crisp tone which i can the adjust for slapping.

  • SUONO CUPO E MOLTO GONFIO

  • my £400 warwick stack sounds just as good as this. i dont get why people feel the need to spend so much money on amps, how many different ways can an amp reproduce the bass sound?

  • I tried one of these combos at Guitar Center in Hollywood, and i thought it was a pretty sweet amp. To get the real sound of it, you gotta play around with it yourself. For their size, i think these combos get a lot of punch and a hell of a lot of bass.

  • I don't like the sound...

  • ampeg all the way

  • Maybe someone can help me out, Their is a compressor in this thing right? But does it work like a regular rack mount compressor? And is it as good? I want to buy one of these and I'm wondering if you can adjust the compression at all. The compressor was going to be the deciding factor for me for choosing between this head and another mark head

  • I didn't know where else to ask. Would a markbass traveler 151p with the little MarkIII amp be enough to hadnle a gig with a drumset? It's so small so I'm afraid to buy it... Help me out?? This gig might be hard rock so everyone might be loud.

  • I'm pretty sure that would do just fine. I use the Markbass SA 450 head, with the traveler 2x10, and it's the loudest amp I've ever had the pleasure of using. and I've played a LOT of amps.

  • Run a sansamp bassdriver DI into your rig for a whole new world of amazing punch.

  • the tuner is completely useless! i have no idea why its there..

the head and cab sound decent!

  • I especially like the exposed wiring on the input jack body (.42 sec). Great if you're looking to short something out.

  • Better yet, have it cut out mid performance and then scare the living shit out of everyone with some painfully loud popping and crackling sounds.

  • cause its part of his rig. dumbass

  • I wouldn't say useless, but it doesn't really apply to this review.

  • Usually the tuner is there to tune your instrument......duh

  • for tuning maybe? a precise tuner sometimes could be helpful

  • umm to tune your fucking bass? on stage its handy trust me

  • i have a markbass amp and its amazing, but i have a guestion though, wat does the VLE and the VPF do? i cant really tell what exactly happens

  • cant remember, it's been a while since i've played on it. I wanna say their website details what it does.

  • VLE is a treble rolloff. Kind of like a tone control. All the way to the left is where it's disengaged, same case with the VPF, which is a gradual mid cut/treble and bass boost.

  • if you wanna slap pull the VPF full on; if you wanna have a "bluesy mowton sound" you need VLE ;)

  • "bluesy Motown" is exactly right.

Sounds just like a close mic'd vintage Ampeg flip top. I adore modern amps that can achieve some vintage mojo. Funny,I am considering two bass amps right now: either an all tube Eden 300T or a solid state Markbass II or III. Honestly,I think I'll be just as happy with either.

  • @HeadbangingGlory the VLE is some sort of vintage sound imitator. and the VPF is a variable pass filter i think

  • nice stuff you got there mate

  • man those shits are so expensive

    but still worth it

  • such a nice amp

    nice playin btw

  • I just bought the MB TA501 the other day and love the head thus far...the only difference was with I went with an Ampeg cab but it also contains 4 10's

  • I was turned on to these amps the other day, and I am looking at the 501 in conjunction with the Ampeg HLN 410. I play comtemporary gospel, funk and jazz. I'd be happy to hear your opinion on this combination sound wise.

  • I highly recommend the heads they are very solid for the price range and I get a ton of different sounds out of it. My band is extremely diverse we play a lot of classic rock type music, but with a funky blues type root. With this in mind my new combo has served me very well thus far. Hope this was helpful let me know if you have any further questions

  • how much?

  • I am usually harshly critical of most "modern sounding" designed bass amps but this Mark is quite superb. The VLE sounds just like a vintage SUNN or ACOUSTIC from the 70s. Anybody here remember the 70s? Back when bass amps roared.

...btw,one of the reasons the vintage bass rigs sounded more thunderous in those days was because they often used the 18" and 15" folded horn cabinets. When "snap-crackle-pop" bass style emerged these wonderful cabs were then abandoned in the 80s.

  • tube amps just distort at frequencies and in ways that are popular. not better. not higher quality, not worth more money. just popular [and i fully admit, quite pleasing].

but remember all the blown out backs from hauling that shit?

i use a phil jones bass flightcase 90% of the time. gonna split my signal to that and one of those new guitar center-made "acoustic" branded amps. those are fucking amazing for the money.

    let's just keep playin!

  • AGUILAR RULEZ!

  • I have a Little Mark II.

  • may i ask with what cabinet?

  • DUDE that sounds awesome!

  • DUDE!! Markbass amps are the greatest amps around.I still love Ampeg&EBS. But Markbass #1 for me!!

  • the laney nexus tube series is pretty awesome

  • behringer makes big piles of crap and sells the for 100 dollars

  • @chumbucket843 you are right behringer is the worst company

  • @chumbucket843 Their bass amps are surprisingly not bad, for being bumringer products. Other than that, though, yeah, they suck.

  • why do we see a korg tuner in the end?

  • because he's tryin to sell this on craigslist. Kinda stupid of me to answer you since you're more interested in bein an internet smart ass than reading anyway

  • well... acutlly i'm not... i just wonder...

  • Ok then, pardon me for misjudging your intentions. I read your post differently.

  • it's fair enough:) you can't really see the intention behind a message so you have to guess:)

  • I made this video to go with a craigslist ad, I was selling the whole thing but I decided to keep it.

  • You are aware Behringer have a reputation for producing shoddy gear, with massively overrated specs? There '180W' combo has a speaker with a max handling of 120W, according to their site.

As far as their tone goes, you really need to compare it to a quality amp to see the difference.

There is a reason not a single professional musician I have ever seen uses a Behringer. Squires? Why not? Modded no name basses? Seen a couple. Behringers? Not one.

  • quite sexy. how much did this set up cost. im in need of a new amp, so i might consider mark nnow.

  • it cost around 2200

the reason i made this video was to post it on craigslist to sell it, so if you live near the houston area you could maybe buy it

  • naww way too much and im in jersey. im not spending more than 1000- in general.

  • This does not have a tube preamp! It only has a tube compressor. The TA503 has a tube in the preamp section.

  • So wait there aren't any tubes in it? Sorry I'm confused what that means.

  • Yes it does have a tube in it, but it is only used for the built-in compressor. The preamp and power amp are both transistor.
