Jayanthi is no doubt an excellent musician. But I wish vainikas like her stop using intrusive contact mikes; they really distort the natural sound of the instrument, although they amplify and bring across the subtle gamakas to the rasika's ears. There is one video in which a young Jayanthi accompanies Padmavathy mami: Video 5LXR0twwKfU. Listen to it; one will know how unfair it is to deform the veena's nada.
The mridangist is Bangalore Arjun Kumar. It is a pity (nay, ridiculous) that he is not as well known (or popular) as he rightfully should be!! Just listen to how he plays for the krithi, particularly in the anupallavi.
Excellent performance by Mrs. Jayanthi on the veena!! The mridangam and ghatam artistes are equally good. But the morsing seems to be completely inaudible!!
the tabla sounds perfect, too. Manoranjani - sounds kinda like Locrian on the way up. Then I get lost. I'm going to have to listen to this a long time.

Excellent jeu de Ms Jayanthi Kumaresh.
Merci pour cette video d'un instrument qui devient rare et c'est dommage.

nice jayanthi. Nice and soft fingering but the mike was not picking up the talam string sound.
