  • beautiful

  • I'm an atheist but i can really appreciate Sikhism and its philosophy along with Taoism and Buddhism i don't see why the rest of the worlds other major religions can't be as tolerant.

  • Gurus mention infinite life forms, not just 8.4 million which is the accepted number by Hindu religion.

  • sat nam! Beautiful video! :)

  • Very nice video! :-)

I am not religious myself (not atheist, either, I just have no need to be in an organized religion) but I do have respect for Sikhism! I live in a western city where there are a number of people whom practice the religion.

Just one question: the "core" group of Sikhs live in Northern India, correct?

    Take care!

    Kyle Jaymes

  • Yeah they do, in Punjab :)

  • Nice video. Your religion is a very peaceful one.

  • It is only in human form that a soul can attain salvation . According to Sikhism , human soul is separated from Lord God which is why it suffers from endless cycle of 8 . 4 million births & deaths . But God has given humans a chance to get rid of endless misery by again becoming one with Him never to be separated again , just like a drop of water mixes in ocean . Oneness with God is attained by His Grace pleasing Him by honest labour remembering Him & sharing earnings with others

  • Attaining God is achievable by anyone even by the heinous of sinners. It's just a matter of controling your thoughts and doing naam simran (sikh meditation) and becoming one with your creator, then life will become clear and you will be at peace.

  • waheguru

  • If any Sikhs have the time, can we have a private message chat? Cause I got a load of questions about your religion.

  • I'm doing a project on Sikhism.

  • I'm doing a project on Sikhism...Wish me luck. Good video.

  • Best of luck if you need any help with it be sure to ask :)

  • Thank you for this wonderful video.

    Blessings to you! :)

  • i have just got a question

    according to sikhism

    why humans have been created

  • according to sikhism it is pure stupidity to describe god or his motives.......although I haven't gone through whole of the sikh sacred literature but I have read Japji sahib which states that even if you keep thinking about god till infinity.....you won't understand his form or motives.....i might be wrong tho...but thts wat i understand from the literature.....it seems logical.....instead of pondering over things u may never confirm.....try to be good to your fellow humans..

  • you are right. it states that to assume that you understand god is a big mistake. he is beyong our understanding.

  • As far as I know.. We are here to settle our scores, to attain moksh which in turn will end our cycles of birth.

  • We are here to get rid of egoism and get back to balance and humility.

Shikism is great teaching ahead of our times

  • thesikhchannel . c o m

  • Where might I find some of these teachings in english and in the original language (transliteration)?

I am a (sometimes) composer and have been looking for uplifting texts to set vocally.

  • I think i commented on this video before lol, but im back :) i realli like it, i recently moved away from home to study at university, i connect my laptop uptop my hi-fi, sit back, an jus listen to the beautiful voice of Singh Kaur

  • can someone tell me the title for this music..tanx

  • Re the music: "Wahe Guru Jio/Mender of Hearts" by Singh Kaur. Cassette available from Ancient Healing Ways. Instrumentals are by Amar Singh (piano) & Sahib-Amar Kaur (viola). This was recorded in St. Louis in the 1980s.

  • thank you.

  • i am a hindu but i respect sikhism by heart.

siksh guru teg bahadur ji sacrifies his life to protect hindu kashmiri pandit from "asshole mugal Aurangzeb" who wanted to convert them to islam.

"wahe guruji da khalsa, wahe guruji di fateh"

  • Good and interesting but where is the music to go with it a little bit of calm and relaxing music dont hurt anyone.Boost it up a bit!!

  • I am Atheist but I have deep respect for Sikhism and Sikh's. Great people and a peaceful religion ;-)

  • a simple q..why r u athiest or more clear what u think of this word atheist?PLZ think and let me know.

  • ah interesting ,, but but i have a question ,,if u would adopt Sikhism as a way of life which u would say it is true, by God ,, why isit only founded in 15th century? a muslim here

  • Be inspired much further by attending The Sikh Course, taking place in various locations in the UK. View SikhCourse . com and book your seats now. Let your spirit soar!

  • is anyone here sikh cuz i am!

  • Very similiar to Bhakti yoga.

  • is this a monotheist religion?

what is ur gods name if so?

  • Yes it is a montheist religion, and Sikhs have many names for God (Allah, Bhagwan, Ram, Hari, etc) but main one that is used is: Waheguru which literally means "wonderful lord".

  • i know this will sound like a stupid question but

Were all the gurus human form of god or were they like ordinary men who had reached a high level of spiritualiy?

and also did they have super natural powers? if they did then why didnt they use them to end the rule of evil in their era?

  • Being a Christian, I have nothing but extreme respect for Sikhs. Christianity and Sikhism have a fantastic relationship and I hope it never falters.

  • Jai Sikh. From a hindu brother.

  • This is so beautiful, so serene, so peaceful. Thanks for posting.

  • your welcome

  • someone told me sikhism is hinduism and Islam beautiful molded together. Naturally as a muslim I was interested, thanksfor the vid!

  • well if u study sikhim it appears to be a mix of islam and hinduism, but sikhism is indeed a religion on its own.

  • get all k's an do prayers (complete nitnem).. god 'll cum 2 c yu when u b sleepin!

  • hey sikhism it does matter if u dont have the 5k's cz if u sikh u would know that god wrote this in the gutka and we should belive in it thats how lots of sikh came up to this time and make there sikh pround anyways this person sang this nicely i love it thanks anyway god will bless u .

  • same here lm very spiritual but not religious.

  • SOME ONE PLEASE SEND ME THIS SONG

  • Who did sing this, it's so beautiful, in such a world of hatred to listen to this is undescribable, thank u so much for putting this up, great job, God Bless

  • nice video thanks

  • i like the song who sings it?

  • beautifull video and voice touches the heart.

    amazing job. thanks

  • very nice..god bless sikhism and everybody in the world..!!!!!

  • Thank you for this beautiful video. May God Bless You.

  • are the 5 K's absolutely necessary?

  • Not really if your new to Sikhism. There are three types of Sikhs: Sahejdhari (Sikhs who cut their hair), Keshdhari (those who keep uncut hair but not baptised and do not wear 5k's) and Amritdhari (fully baptised Sikhs into the Khalsa martial order and who wear the 5k's)

  • thank you, i read a book about sikhism and it seems like this is the best religion for me

  • this is so like enya...did she co produce this.?

  • No these are not enya's vocals. They are beautiful vocals of Singh Kaur, a western convert to Sikhism, who passed away a few years back.

  • What are the English words to this song ?

  • what an amazing heart melting video..the chanting waheguru is just so beautiful

  • Waheguru jhi kha khalsa, waheguru jhi khi fateh! Wow, i am sooooo glad to be a sikh. i recentely went to india and went to a sikh function, i was pretty dissapointed to see sikhs that seem like gur sikhs wearing a kirpan and everything begging and when we asked them y, they would say i am dressed as a sikh. i didnt like that

  • I am as well sikh.

  • Pearl S Buck (Nobel laureate, Non Sikh)

"..have studied the scriptures of the great religions, but I do not find elsewhere the same power of appeal to the heart and mind as I find here in these volumes...are a revelation of the concept of God to the recognition and indeed the insistence upon the practical needs of the human body. ...They speak to a person of any religion or of none. They speak for the human heart and the searching mind.

  • Bertrand Russell (Non Sikh)

".. Sikh religion will be the only means of guiding them." but isn't this religion capable of guiding mankind before the third world war? In reply, Russell said, "Yes, it has the capability, but the Sikhs have not brought out in the broad daylight, the splendid doctrines of this religion which has come into existence for the benefit of the entire mankind. This is their greatest sin and the Sikhs cannot be freed of it."

  • Bertrand Russell(NON Sikh) "...then the Sikh religion will be the only means of guiding them." ...but isn't this religion capable of guiding mankind before the third world war? In reply, Russell said, "Yes, it has the capability, but the Sikhs have not brought out in the broad daylight, the splendid doctrines of this religion which has come into existence for the benefit of the entire mankind. This is their greatest sin and the Sikhs cannot be freed of it."

  • Rev Bradshaw (a non Sikh) of USA writes:

"The Guru Granth Sahib of all the world religious scriptures, alone states that there are innumerable worlds and universes other than our own. The previous scriptures were all concerned only with this world and its spiritual counterpart. To imply that they spoke of other worlds as does the Guru Granth Sahib, is to stretch their obvious meanings out of context. The Sikh religion is truly the answer to the problems of the modern man.

  • Our Gurus ordained equality of relions, gender, races...so please dont say we are the best religion. Guru Nanak says: which is the best religion?

    1. belief in God

    2. Goodness of action

This is what the mighty Guru told us. DO not bad mouth any major religion (I have no prbs with cults..)

  • What a amazing video.

  • Thank you.

  • I love being Sikh- and no i am not one of those typical "asian girls" when i say i am. i love Sikhism. Sikhism is a good religion-the Guru Granth Sahib does not contradict itself. secondly, we have proof the religion is true, the Golden Temple was built by The Gurus, and the Gurus were living humans.

Do not get Sikhism mixed up with Punjabi. Punjabi is a CULTURE.

  • agree with last sentence.sikism is a way of life which i would love to follow properly, e.g. mixture with 3HO yoga kundalini awakening

  • sikhism is the best religion because it believes in peace. ma frends sikh and i decided to see it. it would be kool to convert but i wouldnt be able to(moms)

  • you should teach em about sikhism is not only a religion but a way of life.god bless

  • I am proud to call myself a sikh! We're learning about it in school and I feel happy!

  • I am proud to be a Sikh. We're studying about it in school and I feel proud! P.S. I go to AES

  • livin in london but still proud 2 be a sikh with all my heart!!!!

  • hackiesacker get a life. how can you say that only tablas and harmoniums are used? what about the guru's instruments? the dilruba, taus, rubab, sarangi, saranda? do some research! all sikhs are required to know that the HARMONIUM IS NOT A SIKH INSTRUMENT!!!

Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh!!!

  • To ALL,

    "SIKH AND BE FOUND"

    Peace n Love

  • sikhism is one ov da 1st religion 2 say men n women and people 4rm different background shud be treated equality n dat a fact.respect!

  • Proud Sikh!

  • Rppin Sikh Pride Till The Day I Die!! Sikhz 4 Lyfe! Brap!

  • i totally agree with you :)

  • My friend , I'm doing thesis on music in religion... Can you tell me what musical styles are acceptable in The Gurdwara temple?....Is Bhangra condoned by Sikh traditions?

  • NO, Bhangra is NOT allowed inside the Gurudwara, nor is the playing of the dhol(toll). Bhangra, is a part of Punjabi Culture. Sikhism is the major religion in Punjab.

Musical Styles? Only Keertan is allowed in the Gurudwara Sahib. Only tablas(hand drums) and Harmoniums are used.

  • Just cruising around YT, found this channel. I'm a Christian from America. Best of wishes to the people posting on this channel. Don't let the trolls and fools get you down. Take care.

  • this makes me wanna be a sikh, because this is want i belive in

    peace to all

  • Glad to know that.

  • people say sikhs are muslim and hindu, is tha true?

  • No, Not at all. Sikhism is not a mixture of both Hinduism and Islam, although that is the most common misconception. Not many people are aware of what sikhism really is, as it is not in school cirriculums, thus people are not educated about it.

  • No, Sikhism is not a hybrid religion, thus it is not a combination of Hinduism and Islam. This is the most common misconception about Sikhism.

  • As I believe, no! sikhs are not muslim and hindu. They are same in a way and different in another. God is one and we should follow what god says in bani and that's what all matters.

  • Wow. I am so proud to be Sikh. I cant express it.

  • I am proud to be Sikh too..exactly nor can I express it.

  • As an Canadian Atheist. Living close to a large population of Sikh's, I respect there religion/philosophy far more then the Christian belief(wich is most populer). I choose not to believe in a god when theres no proof, but there way of life is something all other abrahamic religions would be better off with. Especially there exceptence of Science. Although I'm not shur what they believe regarding the scientific creation of the universe? maybe you can answer that
