News Flash: a legal gun owner and NRA member in Wellington Florida successfully defended himself with his handgun and rifle against a 5 and a 6 year old child and his wife. All 3 assailants were shot dead as dad exercised self-defense against his children's questions and the evening dinner prepared by his wife.

The state legislature passed a law that declared a persons car private property equivalent to a home so that anyone can carry a gun in their car.
Well it's pretty insane to say anything else, since obviously a person willing to commit a gun-crime is willing to break a law against having one in their car.
Gun-laws are written to imprison the people; in the 1875 case of US v. Cruikshank, the US Supreme Court said people basically have no right to guns for self-defense, and they have to depend on the state to protect them.
So basically people have no right to life, it's just a privilege.
Well even if they were hell-holes, criminals wouln't be deterred by punishment; criminals are people who act on impulse without values, i.e. they have no long-term sense, and will just do whatever they please whenever they please it. There's no cure for them.
So the best (and only) deterrent is to just shoot 'em dead when they commit the violent crime, that's the only thing that ever stops them.

The statistics were brought to my attention over a year ago and every once in a while I fail to recall correctly. The latest numbers on this are from 2005 and it is 37,460 white females raped by black males. Black females raped by white males… less than 10.

Hold on now. Thats not true. I am all for gun ownership and the 2nd amendment, but to be honest, the countries with the lowest crime rates are typically the ones with the most gun control. I'm pretty conflicted on this topic. I live in a neighborhood where gun violence is, while not a daily event, not unheard of. There have been killings on my block. Guns are commonplace and can be bought in pawn shops. I have also lived in places with strict gun control laws, and gun violence was unheard of, and murders were quite rare. I like guns, I'm ex-military, I enjoy target shooting, it's a constant tug of war, which side do I agree with?

Personally I think both sides are looking at gun control all wrong. What makes the most sense to me as a gun owner, is to not ban the ownership of firearms, but to instead enforce a national carry permit. That way, much like a Driver's license you don't need different permits to carry a gun in different states, and while you can own a gun without a permit, you cannot carry it outside of your property without a permit. But that's just me.

If America is trying to be like England and completely ban guns I would advise against it. In England if several crims are attacking you, punching you repeatedly in the head for example and I was to stamp on the knee of one of my would be attackers I would face a prison sentence for assault, the crims still have guns and we aren't allowed to defend ourselves. Gun-laws are written to imprison the people; in the 1875 case of US v. Cruikshank, the US Supreme Court said people basically have no right to guns for self-defense, and they have to depend on the state to protect them.

Blanchard Oklahoma authorities don't plan to file charges against an Oklahoma woman (18 year old Sarah Mckinley) who fatally shot a New Year's Eve intruder at her house while she had a 911 dispatcher on the phone, but the intruder's alleged accomplice has been charged in the death.

He's as pro 2A as Romney is, with his qualifying of state gun control. The background checks are already nationwide, which further suggests he's talking about limiting individual sales, ccw talk is nothing more than further restrictions. He doesn't think 2A is individual right, but a privilege allowed by the state.

Or, do a little research and see who owns them (yes, they're owned) and imagine their owner's agenda, and that's how they'll behave when you throw them into office. I'm pretty conflicted on this topic. I live in a neighborhood where gun violence is, while not a daily event, not unheard of. There have been killings on my block. Guns are commonplace and can be bought in pawn shops. I have also lived in places with strict gun control laws, and gun violence was unheard of, and murders were quite rare. I like guns, I'm ex-military, I enjoy target shooting, it's a constant tug of war, which side do I agree with?

Personally I think both sides are looking at gun control all wrong. What makes the most sense to me as a gun owner, is to not ban the ownership of firearms, but to instead enforce a national carry permit. That way, much like a Driver's license you don't need different permits to carry a gun in different states, and while you can own a gun without a permit, you cannot carry it outside of your property without a permit. But that's just me.

@YNot1989 We already have a permit... It's called the 2nd amendment. You wouldn't get a church permit, you wouldn't get a free speech permit. We have enough bullshit permits already. More government red tape will accomplish nothing but make a couple more bucks for the State to irresponsibly spend and be hindrance to law abiding citizens. What part of "shall not be infringed" do you not understand? it's the difference between a right and a privilege.

@PunkRockLibertarian The second amendment is a relic, a vestige from a more primitive and barbaric age, and in 2011, we do not need it. I, personally, want to see the second amendment stricken from the Constitution. However, if that is not possible, permits are the best option. We cannot have people running around with guns, like their cell phones, it doesn't make sense and its dangerous. What happened in Arizona would never have happened if we had stricter gun control laws and if idiotic.......

@RorshachKovacs Over 99% of guns that are purchased legally are never used in a crime. Gun laws restrict law abiding citizens. Criminals obtain their guns illegally therefore gun laws are ineffective b/c criminals don't follow laws. We could just make guns illegal. Let's have a War on Guns! Maybe it will be as successful as the War on Drugs :)

If America is trying to be like England and completely ban guns I would advise against it. In England if several crims are attacking you, punching you repeatedly in the head for example and I was to stamp on the knee of one of my would be attackers I would face a prison sentence for assault, the crims still have guns and we aren't allowed to defend ourselves. Wake up America, this will only serve to make you fear society and beg the state for protection. It is a vile and corrupt law.

@PalemoonSun The Tea Party is not a political party and was never meant to be a political party. The TP also opposes big government and is in many ways the opposite of fascism (unlike Progressives). The real problem with the TP is that they're not very consistent. They oppose socialist Obamacare but don't oppose Socialst Security.

There are people like Ron Paul who oppose the drug war and don't want prayers in school, etc. Rand Paul is similar to his father but seems more willing to dump libertarian principles when they're unpopular. There is an actual political party which is a libertarian type party formed because of differences with the Libertarian Party, particularly the nomination of Bob Barr. Pretty much nobody talks about them There are the Tea Parties which is a fairly unorganized movement but which is being co-opted by neo-cons like Palin, Bachmann, and Armey.
