Most the wind would do is knock a brick out of place, and even that is unlikely. You'd be surprised at how durable LEGO can be when connected this thickly with so many pieces. And then the only repairs would be to snap the pieces back in. =P

I think that they only had permission to leave it there for a certain amount of time. I imagine it was demolished due to planning regulations. Legoland were possibly going to take it but didnt, so they had to dismantle it. Some of the bricks have been donated to a local primary school.
