Legal citizens could do all the work, and it would mean that they poorest would get hired more and paid better. But rapid population growth is extremely profitable especially at the top of the pyramid.  A sustainable economy with a stable population would generate less money.

It took my husband 7 + months of paperwork, police checks, homeland security checks, proof of income, interviews and a physical to get a visa to move to the US LEGALLY and he has a Master's degree. What I find interesting about the debate over immigration is that no one seems to care about the effect on the immigrants themselves as if they're less than human and therefore the effects on them don't matter. Only the effects on the high and might Americans is important.

And who's taking care of American citizens first? A lot of people are. American citizens are given K-12 education with no cost to the student. They're provided Medicaid if they need it. There are a variety of opportunities to further their education including scholarships and student loans.
