Socialism combined with capitalism is what we have here in Europe, where I live. Many great companies like Ikea in Sweden have been started before the modern welfare state. A few weeks before 9/11 the Bush administration received an intelligence report entitled something like "Bin Laden determined to attack inside the US". The administration looked into it no further and then denied any blame for allowing the attacks. I'm not saying they caused 9/11, just that it was a lie to say they share no blame for it.

WRONG....spreading the wealth means helping out and aiding the poor families who weren't born into the right situations to make money because the greed-mongering business owners(ie-capitalists) all send jobs to other countries to get their work cheaper, instead of creating jobs here at home.

It's a decent idea, but there are too many people who would rather sit on their ass and let tax payers pay for their dinner than work for it like they are supposed to.

Your logic falls too far to the right...I believe that a smart economic policy involves a balance of socialism AND capitalism...see: "The New Deal"
PS-America has not been FULLY capitalist for years now. We have regulations on conditions necessary in the work place. That's not capitalistic.

I wouldn't say that unions are ANTI-capitalist. In fact, I think that they leave the door open for a better form of capitalism. Nothing 100% pure in this world is ever good.
Capitalism, in and of itself, is bad. The spirit of it is good. It's all about the competition, but it breeds a sneering form of corruption that shouldn't be tolerated. Unions are necessary because they attempt to level the playing field between big businessese and their employees, making a better coop.

@FrizzKid05,what do you think about companies like walmart? when one of their stores vote to go union,the company closes the store down.i was watching a movie called ziegeist or something like that.i think all money systems are bad,money systems turn people into cheats and liers.unless its in your best intrest to be honest.

I work at Wal-Mart in McPherson. Sadly, that was before I really learned of their cheap end-around policies about paying people. My personal opinion on the Wal-Mart brand of economics is that it screws people out of what they rightly work for.
You get no over-time, raises only go so far, they have a rule about employees not becoming store managers if they have family that works there.
They like to keep ppl in-line...and very few people actually like working there.

@FrizzKid05 The free market allowed unions to form. Remember that. The free market is freedom. But when a business, union or other organization is deeply involved with the government, that freedom will be slowly taken away. Just remember that.

Capitalism isn't simply a free-market...it's ALL about the competition. Socialism and Capitalism, combined are what has fueled America, not strictly Capitalism.

@FrizzKid05 But since most of the welfare programs have been implemented, there hasn't been as many new inventions as before. Socialism combined with capitalism is what we have here in Europe, where I live. Many great companies like Ikea in Sweden have been started before the modern welfare state. The already existing welfare programs will then be hard to cut IF it in an economic downturn would be necessary.

@FrizzKid05 All kinds of very necessary things were invented in early 1900. In the last 20 years or so, mostly internet and computing equipment has been developed. And that industry has not been heavily regulated. The automobile industry and the steel industry has suffered much, for example. Medical equipment has always been advanced and still is. For example, recently a new artificial heart has been developed. But such developments will also suffer if the government imposes price controls.

@Incognegroes The comments were not bigotry. According to Frizzkid, Obama can make a generalization about the Republican party and call the PARTY the enemy, so logically, it should be ok for Bill to make generalizations.
It makes no sense, but I'm just following his logic.

@pseudohippie55 So Bill O'Reilly's comments weren't bigotry because you say they aren't? In the speech you refer to, Obama did not specifically name conservatives as "the enemy". He was a little strong on the campaign rhetoric but he was not being bigoted. I could understand your point if he said something like "conservatives are the enemy and they killed us on 9/11", which is more or less what O'Reilly said about Muslims. How is that not bigotry?

@Incognegroes Technically, he was right. And from what I saw, he never got a chance to even explain himself or his points before the two women stormed off the stage. He started talking and they immediately stormed off not giving him a chance to talk.
And Obama said to vote for their "friends" not their "enemies" and clearly he meant conservatives if you take a logical stance towards it.
But I'm not using my logic, I'm using Frizzkid's logic. Proving that his is severely flawed.

@pseudohippie55 No, he was wrong. Remember that Christian extremist group the Hutaree militia? They planned an act of terrorism but were thwarted before it happened. Would it be ok for me to say that "Christians are terrorists" even though it's just the Hutaree that are terrorists? I think most Christians would take issue with that. Why is it any different for Muslims? And it was a poor choice of words for Obama. If you think he's a bigot then you're seriously misinformed.
