Ronnie was an awesome talent and neato guy. If you watch small faces videos....he so loves what hes doing. Always smiling. ALways dancing. love u ronnie
Tell you what i have just discovered Ronnie Lane again i thought he was great first time round all them years ago . All his music stands the test of time he will live on RIP Ronnie Lane
I'm a bassist who became influenced by Ronnie Lane after a musician friend told me that I had a similar playing style. That was in 2009... I never figured.
Just sitting here playing this sweet-sad tune and suddenly it strikes me that it seems very autobiographical--a song by someone who sees his future separating from his past, forced by illness. Anyone with insight as to this?
is that great guitar in back , starting first about 1:10 , slide...is it Pete?? and solo slide...is that Pete...i would be greatfull if somebody would answer?! Thank you!
I like what Marriott did with Humblepie but wouldn't it have been nice if he and Ronnie kept a side band. They both grew so much, though I didn't really like Steve's trip into his version of soul towards the end of Pie.
Its 2010 and Ive just discovered Ronnie Lane and his music, mainly because I have taken up playing the bass... wow what a talent this man had, and a character too ! Bless you Ronnie Lane, thank you for the songs and the inspiration.
@paul84643 hey i can relate its 12/17/2010 and iv'e just heard this because i subscribe to sirius radio , i agree what talent and what a great song . . . . F M radio ? who ? what ? . . . . LOL !
Amazing songwriter and muscician and was the life and soul of every band he was ever in. A freind played me 'Ogdens' once and I was blown away by his bass playing and that was me hooked on music forever. Nice one Ronnie.
Its been a long time since I saw Mr. Lane here in Chicago, but I have to agree with the last post: not only have I often thought of him as England's dylan, he seemed to have alot more soul, which he wasn't afraid to share with an audience. A lovely man., never to be forgotten. (your photos are great, IsobelRivers).
I can't forget how slowly he died, or the way Plonk did it. Natural humour, a make the best of it attitude. What courage! Have you heard "Bye and Bye, I'm gonna see the King"?
I get emotional when I think of how much he suffered but then I remember his sense of humour.Ive got Bye and bye and had the LP it was on Anymore for anymore, loved it .Again with more of that bottleneck guitar work.Absolutely brilliant!
Anymore for Anymore is an unknown piece of beauty, this side of pond. He went through his horrible illness and death, as well as any human could. His songs make us laugh and cry, now Steve could overshadow ANYBODY, I never knew Ronnie wrote half of Ogdens, I was a kid, I thought it cool but different that a rock star would write a song about a Baker, music was too serious. In retro, that was Ronnie, no need to say God bless him, that's a given.
Why haven't I heard this song before today? I can relate, since I have the same birthday. At 3pm today I turn thirty! Too bad he's not with us anymore, would have
been cool to meet him. And to pugwashh, Ive never heard the term "diamond bloke".
Great to hear it again i worked with ronnie and i remember him playing me the tape and clapton's slide playing was stunning coming up to my old mates birthday he was a diamond bloke.
Best song by Ronnie Lane in my opinion. But man, this whole album is top notch. If u want some more great stuff from it, look up "Annie" "Keep Me Turning" "Misunderstood" and "Heart to Hang Onto"
but, get the whole album, you'll do yourself a favor. Not a bad song on the whole thing.
Let's see, saw Ronnie at the old Aylesbury Friars club, couple'a times there i think, at the "new" Friars Club, 2 or 3 times - at Dunstable Civic and also .... oh, sorry, not rubbing salt in the wound is it??!!
love this

@SuperLmcc To each his own. But regardless, he's timeless now, and he left us all some pretty damn good music. I'm sure we'll both agree with that.

I love Ronnie Lane, but I have to say, I've thought about, and no he wasn't "England's Dylan". That comparison does no justice to either one.

One of Ronnie's best songs, ever. Could have been England's Bob Dylan. Think about it.

I know that we're not going anywhere.
