I told my son after the Promise was released that there's still more out there from the Boss. Maybe we have to start a "turn 'em loose, Bruce" campaign.
I know that 'the way' will be a bonus track on disc 1, just like rosalita on the hyde park dvd, this was a 'secret'. now i just hope that 'preacher's daughter' will be issued on disc 2 as a hidden bonus track!!!
@rufaless Well, it's not exactly the same song. If anything, On the Darkside sounds like a mix between She's the One and I'm a Rocker. I definitely think "Eddie" was a Springsteen fan.
This song has just about everything you could want from a mid-to-late '70s Bruce song: girls, souped-up cars, bad boys, disapproving fathers, Catholicism, lust, drag races, and a Bo Diddley beat.
I'm guessing it was never released because it has a bit too much in common with "Mona," which he didn't write. He would have opened himself up to a plagarism suit.
It does sound like that! The best concert I've ever been to, that -- especially, the extended version of "Prove It All Night" with that amazing intro . . .
Wow - you were there? Nice. I liked Prove it All Night, but for my money I liked The Fever, Mona/She's the One & the Extended Backstreets even better.
Keep it angry Bruce.

Why wasn't this at least on Tracks? This sounds like the intro to Mona/She's the One at Winterland in 12/78...

Yes, unreleased from the mid-70's. It was recorded during the "Darkness on the Edge of Town" sessions.
