A dictionary can't tell you if all words are countable or uncountable. Smoke in the dictionary, and the slang word for a cigarrette are the same word....Advice means several different things...advices are physical pieces paper....."I received 2 advices in the mail today".......The dictionary doesn't always know which one you are referring to. You can't always go by the dictionary. Plus, there are some words that can be either countable or uncountable...The dictionary won't tell you that..

I can only say that it all depends on two things: the dictionary, and the ability of the user to use the dictionary. Any good dictionary will have all the necessary information, and any competent learner will know how to take advantage of that information.
