  • Celibacy for priests and bishops isn't a doctrine or teaching of faith. It's only a discipline, and it can be changed. But it's done to mimic the example of Jesus and Paul.

    So it doesn't matter that Peter was married.

  • @BaronGrackle celibacy in the Cath church is not a discipline, for those who want to be in their hierarchy it is a doctrine. When their whatever they call them marry they are kicked out. If it was just a discipline y r so many of them being caught up in all of the sex scandals and having 2 pay hush money? They can just opt not 2b in that discipline, if it was one. However we all know it is part of their doctrine and not a discipline.
