  • Hur hur dur! Fram is junk! Folks on duh internetz done tole me so! Hur hur!

Any oil filter will do the job as long as you change your oil as often as you should.

  • he forgot to fill the replacement filter with oil. D'oh! On start-up, the engine will be starved for lubrication until the oil pump can fill the filter. FAIL

  • @Kara0ki Which takes all of 2-3 seconds at idle resulting in negligible wear.

  • @imthejoker4u2 Negligible? then whats the point of a anti-drainback valve on an oil filter? Hmmmmm?

  • @Kara0ki So dirty oil doesnt drain back into the pan.

It has nothing to do with oil pressure at startup.

  • @imthejoker4u2 Heres what the folks at WIX say regarding the purpose of the anti-drainback valve: " Silicone Anti-Drainback Valve - Stays flexible in extreme temperatures, improves oil flow and keeps oil in filter to prevent engine destroying dry starts."

  • I use the high end fram.... works just fine

  • Fram is Shit

  • i don't use fram oil filters anymore......i've switched to wix because the filter media is better & the filter is constructed much better

  • its a good video but FRAM oil filters are total shit. the paper end caps fail and allow oil to bypass the filter paper and the drain back valve does not keep oil in the filter. Honeywell needs to make better oil filters. The only filter thats worse than Honeywell is the Champion labs Ecore oil filter. AC delco and STP use them now. Delco and STP used to have good filters but they are junk now.

  • @workensmart yep napa filters and wix filters kick ass though.

  • Thanks for your insights. As you can see, there have been many comments here critical of their filters

  • Fram's high end filter, the Xtended Guard (what ever happened to basic spelling?) is actually not too horrible. Unfortunately, it costs an arm+leg. Wix, Pure One, Bosch, etc. are arguably better deals.

The low end of the Fram lineup is populated with junk - avoid at all costs!

  • this was a pretty good video but fram oil filters are terrible. Because of that i dont like two buy any honeywell automotive products. Whitch are Fram, autolight, prestone and bendix. Once more people start finding this out they will be forced to make better stuff in order to keep selling stuff. But for now honeywell needs too stick with fans and air conditioners.

  • Fram=junk!!

  • Fram is the worst major oil filter on the market. Every oil filter made by Honeywell International Inc. uses cardboard ends glued to the filter element (which fail). The bypass valves leaks letting dirty oil through and the anti drain back valves don't work! AGAIN DO NOT BUY FRAM/HONEYWELL!

  • Not every oil filter made by Honeywell has cardboard end caps. The Extended Guard line has metal end caps, and are actually excellent oil filters. However, their Extra Guard, Tough Guard and High Mileage oil filters have the cardboard end-caps.

  • @ThirdeYe1337 Thanks for the info. I might start using the Extened Guard, but one question. I read from one of their representatives that the end caps are not cardboard, but some other substance. I forget the name of it.
