  • this is a scream....

  • This will never stop being hilarious.

  • Super yaar! 16 people hate combing their hair and being polite LOL

  • What's a vindaloo?!

  • @NewZealandAri Its a type of curry. Its quite good.

  • @NewZealandAri It's the hottest curry made in Western curry houses. To get a curry any hotter you have to know an Indian or go to India.

  • 16 people didnt get vindaloos

  • 16 people didnt get a vindaloo

  • The angry 'n curious looks from the Indian aunties when the white girl dances in Indian streets...... ROFL!!!

  • This is better than the original song! Sanjeev Bakshar can sing!

  • It's so true that 'being [insert 'groovy' ethnicity here]' or 'being [insert 'groovy' religion here]' is just a fad common with snotty nose public school kids. I have people coming up to me saying 'so what's it like on the boarder of North & South Korea?' when for the hundredth time I've told them I come from Japan.

God this show encapsulates everything annoying about both eastern & western cultures and brings it to ridicule. <3

  • I am going to die laughing. I have not seen this before. Are they still running new episodes of GGM

  • Brilliant!

  • Tajinder Singh?????

  • Love this show. Can't stop laughing.

  • Can anybody explain me what that vindaloo is I'm not english native

  • a vinaloo is a very spicy curry

  • Brilliant.

  • PULPadumLICIOUS w/mint chutney !!!

  • hahaaha good one yaar.

  • lol!!!!!!!!!!

  • "I smiled and said 'Do you want a vindaloo?'"! Brilliant.

  • LOL!!!! That's so hilarious! Can't stop laughing! :))

  • lmao love it (he is oddly cute dressed like that)

  • does it still come on t.v? can someone tell me

  • It's often on satellite / cable in the uk - PAramount Comedy or UK Gold. Not on terrestrial tv any more.

  • born in coventry...coventry

  • I'd forgotten how totally brilliant this series was. They did really sharp, clever, witty satire about British culture, Asian cultures, British Asian culture. Rather than break down stereotypes, they played with them because that's funnier.

Definitely one of the top sketch shows ever.

  • so funny!! im an american traveling through india, sitting in the cafe of the Hare Rama guesthouse in the Pahar Ganj market of New Delhi, indulging in some Pulp, completely disenchanted with the dreadlocked hippy trend kids...and this song pops up! too funny!!

  • I'm actually addicted to this song :P

  • You're missing the joke.

  • Yeah, this goes past FTW. This is FTTM (for the title match). :D

  • comedy apart , this lot are extremely talented !

  • different class

  • Genius!

  • lol the lyrics are pretty clever

  • Great mix

  • Oh, shut up. You don't even know what you're talking about, you racist maniac.

  • In response to "Loffleme" - how on earth was the statement "Hindi is a language not an ethnicity" rude? From the little rant you have written it seems that you are the one blowing this out of proportion and taking it too far. It was a simple statement of fact; how can it possibly be classed as uncivil or "not nice"?! I assure if it was so incredibly offensive it wouldn't have 5 thumbs up!

  • Uhhh ... o-O

I'm not completely sure I was replying to that statement ...

  • oh man - this is GOOD!

  • LOL

  • Hindi is a language, not an ethnicity.

  • @x77uqabr6 This is parody dude. Its about ignorant white people, they call Indians, HIndu, hindi and in UK they call all brown people pakis.

These people very well know it and they used it with a reason

  • LOL...true, I love the way this show turns the tables, it's genius IMO.

  • @x77uqabr6

That's the point, ya dork. :)

  • @x77uqabr6 Language and culture often come to describe each other. To the extent that often the same word is used for both (English, Deutsch/Deutsche). Semitic is technically a language group but now also universally known as an ethnic group. I would feel happy using Hindi to refer to a culture.

  • @x77uqabr6 We know that. The point is that the woman who wants to be like "Hindi" people doesn't and he's taking the piss out of her. Are 17 people really as stupid as you?

  • @x77uqabr6

....I don't think you understand the original song, or the fact of why this pisstake is so brilliant.

  • @x77uqabr6 thus highlighting the ignorance of the people that utter such nonsense.

  • @x77uqabr6 It's both.

  • @x77uqabr6 Actually, it's not entirely incorrect, 'Hindi' used to be used to refer to the people as well, it's only recently (as in the last 60-odd years) that it's come to mean the language rather than the community. It's also not uncommon to wear mehendi on one's feet. That said, I still love this song.

  • What the hell was that for? You've taken something that was intended in all good humour and you've decided to be nasty about it. Didn't your mother teach you that if you don't have anything nice, or at least civil, to say then dont' say anything at all? You can state your oposing opinion of course but theres no need to be rude really is there?

  • I LOVE THIS VERSION

  • No problemo - it bugged me for ages until I found this clip on here...all I could remember from it was the bit about "Dont smoke fags and dont play pool, do extremley well at school..." and was annoying as hell so I had to figure out all the lyrics! LOL :D

  • @funkycherrygirl Thank you so much for the lyrics. You saved me the time. i need to post this, cause I am getting a lot of girls(not from kent but from other parts of the world ;-) ) that like me and want to be like Hindi people. I just hope I don't piss them off when i post this song my FB wall. hahaha

The best part about GGM its reflects reality, that the brilliance of this show, it as real as it can get.

  • @qwanraj

The fact that more and more ppl realize the values of true Indian culture is underlined by this parody too. The truth is that real "Hindu ppl" are brought up with such a right method and have developed so many qualities in them that makes them indeed the best and most worthy of love. Islie kitne bhi parodyes koii banenge lekin humko bhi bilkul besharam se aise log ko bahut regard dena hai.

  • @romanianprof "makes them the best and most worthy of love"?? Give me a break..Your post smacks of ethnocentrism. Oh, by the way, you forgot to mention Hindu Bride Burning and the Caste System. :O

  • Hahahaha!!

  • Sorry about all the posts remember to read from the bottom up in terms of each individual post! I forgot thats how they are displayed now - D'Oh!! Enjoy and feel free to make corrections :)

  • Thanks for lyrics.

  • Great job.

  • but you'll never comprehend cus for you it's just a trend

dressing up like the hindi people

    in your favourite georgio salwaar

dancing round with the hindi people

telling me that you want to learn sitar

but you'll never score with me cus i was born in coventry

    coventry oh yeah

  • you wanna live like hindi people

you wanna see whatever hindi people see

you wanna live with hindi people

you wanna watch your films on c-tv

  • Thanks for transcribing this, (there's no subtitles on the GGM DVDs) the last line might end with Zee TV.

  • she said i wanna live like hindi people i wanna eat whatever hindi people eat i want to dress like the bhindi people i want to wear mendhi on my feet but she didn't understand you just painted on your haaand! comb your hair and be polite do your homework every night don't smoke fags and don't play pool do extremeley well at school take a medical degree, graduate at thirty-three move back in with mom and dad, even though they drive you raving mad...you sure
  • i want to live like hindi people

i want to do what ever hindi people do

i want to sleep with hindi people

i want to sleep with hindi people like you

well what else could i do, i smiled and said 'do you want a vindaloo?'

i said i'd find a groovy gig and take her

i like the verve but she said kula shaker their musics tops

    just like cornershops

  • lyrics as follows as best as possible [please excsuse spelling mistakes etc:]

she came from kent her name was lucy parker

her skin was white but she prefered it darker

that's why i, caught her eye

we met at york she was a first year student

she wore a sari cus she thought it prudent, i thought fine

and then in 30 seconds time she said

  • bloody great, almost as great as Brass Eye's send up of disco 2000 "oh me oh myra" which you MUST see.

  • This is absolutely bloody brilliant. I can listen to it over and again.

Anyone know whether the original (of which this is a parody) is on You Tube?

  • But of course, the Pulp video to Common People is on youtube. On the right hand side of this page you'll find links to it

  • Oh my fucking god. Like too much to appreciate this. You are a ignoramus. If you had ANY understanding of Pulp bar what must obviously be on some sheer musical level, because the excellence and ingeniousness of this is just amazing.

Argh, RAGE. What kind of Pulp fan are you!?!

  • Who, me? I wrote it a while ago. I officially love it now. Maybe it's a listen twice thing.

  • Yes, you. I'm glad to hear.

It was just realllly weird for someone to say what you said, and claim to be a fan of a band that makes music that requires a little bit of a radical mind to appreciate. That same radical mind should be able to understand the humour of this parody, in which you now do.

    Excellent.

  • I actually just read my comment recently and feel like a bit of an idiot now :) I'd have been pretty annoyed if anyone else had said it, too. Cringe...

  • Anyone have the lyrics?

  • that's actually sad. he did all of jarvis's little hand movements. which is upsetting. anyways, i think i just love pulp too much to appreciate it lol. it's actually kind of funny... ♥

  • i really enjoy listening to this again and again.... good work Bhaskar

  • OMFG i have this on DVD! also i have teh real version of dis song!

  • funny but i prefeer pulp xD

  • The excellent Fiona Allen (of Smack the Pony fame) appears as the 'Hindi' girl.

  • one word...class!

  • does anyone know the lyrics to this parody? i can't make out some of the words in his british accent.

  • this rocks so much - i have been after this for so long it's just not even funny anymore. i actually feel like crying with relief after finding this! how sad is that! but hes so cute as jarvis cocker and his voice is so sexy too!! THANK YOU!

  • Panjâbî, sorry for the mistake...

  • I love this show, I didn't know they did that. I remember Panjiabi Girl, the parody Aqua, and this one is very good too...

  • By any chance, does someone have the Goodness Gracious Me video "I know him too well"?

  • Don't know how to transfer it to Utube, but I have it on video.

  • THANK YOU for posting this! I loved this show, and this is such a neat song! Brilliant cast! Yes, I'll go for a vindaloo!
