As posted, you can purchase this on DVD from Amazon as part of a set - either as part of "The Year Without a Santa Claus / Nestor, The Long-Eared Christmas Donkey / Rudolph's Shiny New Year" OR "Life And Adventures Of Santa Claus/Nestor The Christmas Donkey" If you want it alone - it is available on VHS (yes, VHS) on Amazon. As for the DVDs, the other films it comes bundled with are good too, despite the criticisms here. Good hunting!
I'm just watching this one for the first time... the part where his mom died was so sad... and then when she appeared to him in the storm I totally lost it. Damn you, sad animal stories! T_T
Omg i didn't know his mommy died. This is my first time watching this and hearing about it. Omg awe no! "ears Nestor" ); that's sooooo sad. Poor donkey. That bastard threw him out, he can't help if his ears are like that. That's the way God made him. Stupid jerk, throw him out there in the cold like that
Nestor's mom dying made me cry, which made me think of MY mom dying, which will not happen in a long time. But I swear, when the heaven song came on. I have the courage to keep going. Rock on, Christmas specials.
I cry like a baby when his mom comes from heaven to guide him through the storm. She died to one day help him deliver the son of GOD. He was born imperfect, but his imperfection was planned by GOD. Awesome story! "Your ears can do a wondrous thing no other ears can do! The sounds they hear will guide you on a path that's straight and true! And you must save another as your mother once saved you. How touching
Oh my God. I watched this for the first time on ABC Family and i cried my eyes out when Nestor's mom died. I still cry watching this on you tube. It's soooooooo sad.
@ 9:30, I lost it. I remember seeing this as a kid and it was unbelievably sad. I avoided this cartoon for yrs because it really is quite the tear-jerker.
Seeing Nestor cry for his mother like that brings tears to my eyes. It hurts to lose someone you love when he/she sacrifices their life to save yours. Why must some channels ban good shows just because they use the word God in them? Isn't the birth of Jesus Christ supposed to be what Christmas is all about?
If that doesn't make someone cry, then there's someone wrong with them! That's about the saddest thing I've ever seen in a story. Poor Nestor. His mom died trying to save him and then he's stuck with his long ears and no mom....
I remember as a kid crying my eyes out when Nester's mommy died. Watching this now, tears are just streaming down my face! My goodness! This was and still is one of my favourite Christmas programs. Thank you SO MUCH for posting this. It brings back so many memories and I hope I can find a copy of this to show my son. ;) This is a great story about individual unique talents and looking different has its pluses! A great story for kids to watch!! :)
I remember this being my favorite Christmas special when I was a kid. I cry even now when I see it. This was truly a special show for everyone. I love it and I like giving this video as a gift to all the young children I know. This should be watched by everyone to enjoy.
Of all the "Christmas Specials" this is the most heart breaking of all. I can remember watching it as a child. And crying my eyes out. Now I am 40, and still cry everytime I see it.
Me too! You took the words right out of my mouth! I wish they still made christmas specials like this and the others....but out of all of them...this is my favorite. And yes..it STILL brings tears to my eyes.
Every Christmas I watch this and promise myself that I won't cry. I have never been able to NOT cry at this movie. I cried watching this just now. But, I love it anyway.
Oh My God, you are not alone. I'm a former Combat Marine. Had 11 men lost, my sister passed away when she was 10, and I was 8, and still I never shed a tear. But this damn film does something to me that I can't help but cry. No greater sacrafice than to sacrafice your life for another to finish an assignment of good. Sad we can't put these films on air cause God for bid they use the word "God" I hope they know what they are doing when they have to answer for that. God Bless you my friend....
reply to havinfun1968: Actually this is on every christmas on the FamilyChannel, that's when I watch this. But, yes, to have your own mother give up her life for yours is an experience I never want to go through. Thank you for your comment, I'm just glad that I'm not the only one that sheds tears in this movie. And God bless you all as well. :D
I do know it's on the Family Chanel but this use to be part of CBS when we were little (well I'm 40). It was a double feature with "The Little Drummer Boy". Now God forbid we mention any of this. Do you know above the Supreme Courts door, ingraved in the pillars is Moses and all of the leaders of the world are facing him. Why does Congress start every session with a Prayer, paid for by tax payers? I hope we protect this. I'd give my life for that, as I fought as a Marine, now dying of Cancer. GB
havinfun1968: The world has become very strange. I'm only 20, and I can see that it would take a lot more than Congress to change to way of things. I am not a person that has a lot of knowledge of politics or of religion, although, I believe in God.
But, I pray for better things, and I hold onto that faith. May God be with you. :)
You are so right! I will be 40 next May...and I remember like it was yesterday when they showed these specials on CBS...I for one feel blessed to have been part of a generation who were fortunate to view such meaningful stories that contained such a message of God. Be Blessed and I will pray for you........Kym
Wow, that's so stupid, think about it, censoring Christmas specials because they mention God, I wonder if the world even knows what Christmas is? It's kind of the point.
this just breaks my heart.
