  • This music lets me dive into another world.

  • im viewer number 20000! :p

  • @TheMourningPalace i think you should be number 10,000,000

  • Amazing, in a class all by himself. Anyone know any good videos where he plays with a band?

  • I know it isn 't but it sound really random to me what he plays -_-'

  • holy crap! from 6:50-7:05, he is just beating the fool out of the instrument! LOL!

  • Does Michael Manrig also have instructional (not only performance/concert) DVDs or Books? I believe he hasn't but maybe somebody knows better?...

  • the first song....its...pure...just...pure....nothing is wrong with it..send chills down my spine

  • I love how he still plays a four string bass...he's a creative genius.

  • @OrisLover He only uses four 'cause his special tuners can get the range of his bass to anything that a six string could produce.

  • i freaking love ebows xD they are so cool

  • What's he using to make the effect? Effects pedal? i want one :D

  • looks like hes using an ebow

  • @ejlarsonstratford yea I looked up just now. He is! Thats so cool :)

  • or two ebows. he's amazing

  • WoW, I wonder too! pretty amazing♥

  • From what I understand, he has Bartolini pickups for every string and four Fishman Transducer for the body signals of the instruments. He is a bass nut lol. BEAST!!!

  • Sweet. I think there are pickups in the neck of the bass. Very cool............

  • this is totally new and amazing to me.

  • I think he is using 2 ebows, 1 as a drone and one on the string he is playing the melody on.

  • i think you are right

  • unless he has ebows buried in the tailpiece he aint using them

  • Actually you can see them in his hand. Pause the vid at 10 seconds. You can see him holding them and you can see the blue power lights reflecting off his bass.

  • Is that an e-bow hes using to get that sound?

  • I'm tripping balls!

  • this man is god O_O

  • yes...have you seen the light that shines on him? o.O he looks like an angel :O!

  • f*%k victor wooten. repetitive, ultimately uninteresting. Manthing seems to push the "real" boundaries of the instrument.

  • @hebrewuser Manring could be the best MUSICIAN on bass. Wooten could be the best bass PLAYER (as in support for the band, and groove). They're different. But how could you say "f*%k victor wooten"? That day, you must have been drunk.

  • you can view the full dvd versions of selene and helios at manrings facebook page... amazing quality too.

  • phenomenal. great sound quality.

  • Goddamn I love the Manthing. Saw him in Susanville CA a few months ago and it was one of the coolest things Ive ever seen. The crowd was full of assholes though.

  • This is amazing , Hes insane !!

  • This is truly one of the greatest and most innovative bassists ever to honor us with his being.

    Go Michael!

  • I have only two problems with this video:

    1) No matter how good the video presentation is, it really can't compare to seeing Michael perform live.

    2) I don't think picking up Helios in mid-song is really a good idea, especially at that point. Helios builds to a sort of controlled chaos and then comes back from it. For people not familiar with the music, jumping right into the chaotic section is not a very good introduction.

I will, of course, be buying the DVD as soon as it's available!

  • dear mjkobb

    it is only a teaser..

  • very cool camera work!
