Tool assistance means that the game is being played on an emulator (desmume in this case), and slowed down in a way that you can play it a frame at a time. In addition, you can make savestates at certain frames and rewind back to them if you want to optimize your movements or undo mistakes. This way you can perfect your gameplay. It takes a lot of hours though, and the main goal is just to entertain the audience. It's not to be mistaken or compared with real console records.

@darkangel78917 5 seconds. U can c every time u press the fire button, 3 shots come out. 1 in the middle, and the horizontal angles. Those 3 shots come out in less then a second so if u get right to where in front of kabula then ur going to do a lot of damage not only by the 3 shots, but by how fast they r fired and they fire so fast its going to kill him in 5 seconds.

Because desmume didn't emulate the game well. It was made with version 0.9.4.

I think 0.9.6 fixes these graphical glitches.

@KirbyBloopers Well you do have a point there... Don't worry, all you have to do is stay clear of enemies, don't use maximum tomatoes till about your 6th 7th or 8th match, and use Jet Cracker a lot. (Full Charge, Launch then press B when launching if your near an opponent.

Kirby isn't controlled by a computer in this video here. This is a common misconception about what TAS stands for. I only played the game on an emulator and slowed it down to perfect movements and undo mistakes.

Everyone has a different attitude towards TASing and I accept it (as long as no-one comes along telling TASes are cheating movies, which is unfortunately also rather common on Youtube).

Well aside from all this, if you can't manage to complete the mode, try stone ability ;)

I own and play this game on my DS (and I played the hell out of and still own the SNES version, too!) and I finished True Arena a little while ago in a car ride in about 14 minutes without taking damage AND without using abilities... but I DID use Hammer for Marx at the end because I got lucky and it spawned in the lobby room... I just couldn't resist, lol. But yes, it is very possible.

Most games determine boss patterns or enemy actions by RNG (random number generator). In some games you can luck manipulate certain item drops depending on your input or the time the enemy was killed. In most Kirby games you can change the randomness by walking in one direction, then turning around (so there's a cloud of dust), sometimes also by starting to run or by producing different music (the latter concerns Kirby Super Star), or simply by landing (Kirby's Dreamland GB).

For a completely different example: In Pokemon Red/Blue, when you battle a pokemon a certain value in memory decreases whereas on the overworld (out of battle) it rises. This value approximately determines the probability of encountering a wild pokemon. Manipulating this value along with other related ones by input and timing, and by sometimes stopping for a frame you can walk through grass for a long time before encountering a new pokemon.
