Indeed the controller goes a very long way.

I still use my first one (sixaxis) for like almost 3 years now and no problems.

The controller is rechargeable. However all rechargeable batteries die after a certain amount of charges, and the one inside the DS3 is not replaceable.

Thousands. You won't need to worry about replacing it for a very long time. Though even then, you can still use it with a USB cord.

yea, i bought one and noticed that. they seems slightly more stiff than a new sixaxis. and i dont like the new plastic. better for sweaty hands, but not as soft and comfortable.

you might have got a dammaged controller i have 2 DS3´s and the R2 and L2 are the same. the only diffrense i have seen is that the L3 and R3 are better,flatter Dpad and stiffer,R1 and L1 are not as sqisy and thats about it.

well, two two's, theres glue stains everywhere. those Hong Kong suppliers have fucked with my controller no doubt about it :/ why else wouldnt it be sealed in a box if it was supposedly brand new? oh and everytime it needs charging it makes my game go apeshit.. my dpad is bulky, my shape buttons stick out like a DS1, and the LED lights all look cheap, and flash really dim, i hope this is because its a tampered-wtih controller, otherwise i'll have to say Dualshock aint the real deal no more.

It will if the game supports that feature and you have it set to do that, or if the game forces you to control it in that way (like Toy Home, ugg).

However, most of the time you only have to use the sixaxis features if you want to.

Some games do not give you a choice. But there are very few of them.

For instance, Lair forced users to use the motion controls and did not give an alternative. But enough people complained about that so that they issued a patch that allows you to use the analog sticks for movement.

The one I mentioned in my previous post, Toy Home, is a casual racing game that gives you no steering option besides the tilt controls. One of the many reasons that game sucks.

Both the SIXAXIS and DS3 are charged via mini-B USB cord. One is included with the PlayStation 3, and any other mini-B USB cord will work as well. You can charge it using any device with a USB port.

This is true. I've noticed in Metal Gear Solid 4, if an explosion, for instance, is on the right or left side, you'll get vibration from that side.

It depends on each game's programming, if it will do that, though.

It depends on what model you buy. I'm sure there are still lots of SIXAXIS PS3s out there, but Sony is trying to cut over to the DS3, and they no longer manufacture the SIXAXIS. For instance, the Metal Gear Solid 4 bundle is packaged with a DS3.

Just make sure you know what you're buying when you go to purchase it.

It depends on the PS3 color. There's that ultra limited edition gunmetal gray version, which has a controller to match, but the regular 80GB bundle is black.

No. The PS3 does not supply power to the USB ports when in standby mode. However you can charge the controller using a USB port on any device. PC, Wii, 360, whatever.

And yes, it is out in NA in black, but I imported this silver one. Although I've heard they have plans to bring the silver here as well.
