  • In airings of Batman on the hub,its plasterd w/the 1993 20th television logo.

  • @ostra00chip: The entire run of Batman WAS in color...what's seen in this video is from a black-and-white "stand-by" print ABC sent to local stations that still weren't broadcasting in color yet (as of 1966).

Some ABC stations in smaller markets still broadcast in black and white as late as 1974.

  • that the real 8mm kiroscope copy of abc's batman.they used in tv stations back then.with abc at the beginning and the end.included commercials in 1966.a syndicated copy would be in color and abc and original commercials would be edited out,and new 20th century logo will replace the old one.

  • how old is this must like over 30 years old does anybody know?

  • I found the name William Self in the end credits. He sadly passed away at age 89. R I P

  • seems real....judging by the heavy grainieness and the tape hiss in background

  • This is a BW print for TV stations that didn't have color yet in 1966

  • PLEASE CHANGE INTO COLOR!!!!!

  • @jpongsin2002 I don't have a colour copy.

  • @MattTheSaiyan this is colour copy: take out b&W And Make It Look Old Real.

  • @jpongsin2002 No. My copy is from a B&W copy of a colour broadcast. I do NOT have a colour copy. Maybe a colour copy exists in the hands of collectors, but I don't have it.

  • @MattTheSaiyan B&W Copy..... color copy....i have it!

  • @jpongsin2002 With the ABC ident? Then upload it!

  • that 0 was about to fall over

  • This probably looks like 1966, doesn't it?

  • perhaps from a kinescope? But then the question would be WHY since Batman was not aired live like other shows were such as soap operas. Maybe a network archive copy?? I know there are B/W episodes of Good Times from 1974 that are out there and B/W episodes of General Hospital from 1975 as well.

Very interesting find nevertheless... thanks for sharing.

  • My guess is that, since B&W prints were cheaper to make, ABC affiliates without colour broadcasting tech got a B&W print. I could be wrong though (I'm still learning about the subject of color TV broadcasting).

  • that actually makes sense. I believe I read somewhere over the years that networks did indeed provide B/W prints to affiliates who did not have the color technology at the time of broadcast.
