  • I love folk culture... I was there when they did this poem. Olivia Gatwood is honestly a lovely womyn. I'm glad they are sharing the old cultures in a modern way, to people who may not have heard it other wise.

  • Love how they introduced a part of Mexican culture to those that know nothing about it .

  • i absolutely love how she did that moan.

  • I love poetry, some poems I don't understand as strongly as I do others but I won't knock a poem for what it is to the speaker. If you feel these words are your words, then you say them proudly. These two slam poets gave the time and energy it took to write, memorize, and speak these words and I will respect that above all else. Although, I would like to read this one so I can better ingest it. Great work, proud that people still feel the breath in their lungs is worth spent on speaking out.

  • it was better live! a great experiencee!

  • MIS HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIJOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOS!!

  • What does this poem mean?

  • Go new Mexico < im glad i live in Albuquerque.. These kids should have one so badly.. i can't beleive they didnt :(

but good for them for getting their

  • Its so powerful! My god!

  • Does anyone else think when they talk at the same time it sounds somewhat demonic. That and the cry gives this poem SOOOO much more power!

  • My grandma used to tell me this story! Ugh it is so scary! This cleaned it up!

  • This is actually based of a ghost story i read once i think. Did anyone else make that connection or am i not getting it?

  • @ShayShayLaRae Yeah it's about La Lorona!

  • @ShayShayLaRae It's a Mexican legend.

  • This is beautiful.

  • I can comment on whatever I want, however I want. You go to almost any youtube video and there's a mix of positive and negative responses. That's life on the internet for ya. Deal with it.

  • @CodyT3212 A black man performing spoken word about his disabled sister, at the white house: titled 'Joshua Bennett Performs at the White House Poetry Jam'

It's beautifully written and performed. Just watch it and see if you still feel the same.

  • @CodyT3212 so you waste your time commenting on poetry you don't like, and tell the kids to get a job... really? haha.

  • @CodyT3212 Really ? Cool Im Black .. Why dont you go find a damn hobby & let these people express themselves. Since you have such strong hate for this why bother to watch ? why bother to comment . Let these people do what they love & before you start saying the black people only talk about their race you should your facts straight BEFORE commenting because i seen some poetry where the black people talk about real things . So keep your comments to yourself .. Okay kid - thanks !

  • Beat poetry is sickening. I'm all for free speech and art, but it just sickens me. To each his own, but I find stuff like this to be incredibly gay. It irritates me that anybody would feel entertained by this but INFURIATES me to see people crying over it. I just don't understand it. Get a real fucking job you whiny kids...you think you have all these problems and your voice needs to be heard but you're just hacks. The black ones are even worse...its ALWAYS about their race.

  • @CodyT3212 You seem very angry at people for expressing themselves...almost like you're insecure about yourself. If you are going to write discriminating things you should keep it to yourself.

  • @CodyT3212 Funny that you complain about this, why don't you go out and try to write something you consider to be 'good' instead of criticizing kids?

  • @CodyT3212 I respect your opinion of not liking this style of poetry. I mean out of all the poeple in the world there's gonna be people who dont like this stuff. Just because they say poetry doesnt mean that they wont get an actual job. This is just doing something that they love. And I've heard a lot of poems by black people and the majority of the poems I've heard by black people had nothing to do with race. There are some poems about race but not ALL of them are about race.

  • This show made me cringe. Like, I don't think I've ever hated something so much. I'm all for art and whatnot, but beat poetry is the most sickening thing in the world to me. No, her "cry" is not chilling its fucking gay. God I hate people.

  • I LOVE THIS!

  • i love this poem

la llorona used to creep me out when ever i was i with my cousins sitting around a camp fire telling stories. but to think of la llorona like this it brings the fear back as if i was still a little kid again...

  • who is la Llorona

  • @msalah2341 it means the weeping woman

  • for the 1 person... who disliked this... may karma, be with you and deal with your mistakes.

  • @WhiteGlitterTV I never said it was worthless I PERSONALLY found it pointless , and if they opened themselves to poetry congrats to them, and as for my "excessive" criticism Consider it my 2 cent poetry as it's my expression. If you or others don't agree or like it then happily switch over or keep reading :) thank you for your reply.

  • LMAO ! Mexican's are so fxckedd up ! With their crazy stories & why wud they tell their children such things . Everybody shud watch '' George Lopez - Why you crying '' Set on youtube... The FUNNY side to this story lol

  • i remember the story of la llorona my grandma always told me if i dont go tosleep she will come get me lol i use to be so scared LOVE THE PEOM

  • <They are from my City :D hell yea go New Mexico, Albuquerque.

  • ....This concept for my opinion is pointless..... llorona isnt a legend its like me making a poem about fucking CHUPACABRAS! BIG FOOT! I am a Poet. I Speak a Message for people to learn and listen....didnt learn anything with this sorry. You can check my poems out if youll like

  • @theyouneek1 llorona was used as a metaphor

  • @theyouneek1 P.S your poems are pretty sick

  • @theyouneek1 You realize that llorona is a metaphor for heroin, right? I think heroin awareness is a message for the people. I know enough of the kids this poem was about who died from it to make me very aware that this poem is worth every word.

  • @dvindielove it is obvious its a metaphor and I feel awareness of any sort can be positive. This poem was to all so you might know people that fell for their drug abuse and there mistakes but not what this poem specifically pointed anyone out and if you say that this poem was worth every word... where were ur words on those people that you claim to know that passed away? I mean this with no disrespect. if you appreciate others voices in a cause make sure you at least get inspired to use yours.

  • @theyouneek1 I am a slam poet in Albuquerque. I see these poets every week, and this poem is a version of the original, which actually DID name two students in Albuquerque who had recently passed away from overdoses on heroin. I had met both of those students. I wrote and performed poems on these kids as well, as it had rocked my community, and I felt like creating a response. I use my voice at slams quite frequently, and plan on making it to BNV with our team this year. Anything else?

  • @dvindielove Thats good, I am a Spoken Word Artist myself, so these words arent just said to be said. My View and perspective, good im actually competing as well, My community is same train to destruction in the words of Amir Sulaiman " There has to be more then poems on T.V" knowing will never be enough unless we apply it to our daily lifes. Anything else? Not at all since i never asked for anything in return but thanks.

  • @theyouneek1 Well you started out trying to make a point that this wus wasted energy or worthless . I understand you didnt Learn anything from it , but im sure there's many poems out there you didn't Learn anything from , HOWEVER many people will have been not only awakened to a topic by this , but also introduced to new forms of expression . All poetry is expression , and so its never wasted , if you didnt Like it , simply switch over , plenty others , no need for excessive critisism.

  • ALL DA WAY IN TRINI SHE GIVIN ME CHILLS

  • @CodyT3212 I disagree. We need more of this on regular cable programming! This is so powerful and inspiring. These youths are taking an ancient story and reminding us why those stories are still important today.

  • @CodyT3212 haha what a cock you are my friend. suck a nose.
