They found this in me by accident while doing a barium enema to check for colitis due to family history.
Ive never had what I believe to be symptoms which I'm told is normal. I eat alot for bodybuilding regimens...and its really made me cautious. Dunno really where to from here as bodybuilding isn't worth a colostomy bag, and my conditions isn't noteworthy to merit a specialist for advice.
I had surgery for severe diverticulitis. 8 inches of colon was removed. I had ruptured in a few places and it was not fun at all. Worst pain I've ever been in. Luckily, did not have to have a colostomy. Get your fiber people..you dont want this disease. AS far as the seeds and nuts thing goes, theres no scientific evidence to support that they cause or aggrivate diverticulitis..in fact, they say now that its probably good to eat nuts & seeds, as they contain fiber that can help you.
I have had this for about 5 years and my life pretty much sucks I am going to talk to the surgen in about a week and a half I take fiber supplements and probiotics and eat a bland diet no seeds nuts popcorn spicy food and it don't work I am going for surgery.
@shakaama I just went to see a doctor at the hospital yesterday and was diagnosed with diverticulitis. My doctor also told me to avoid fiber during the healing process. I speculate that since the pouches are inflamed, insoluble fibers could interfere with them. I figure that once I'm back on my feet and done taking all the antibiotics, then I can start taking fiber to avoid another diverticulitis in the future.
@bienvenuey i was in the hospital for 5 days from this, with a fever of 102, i thought i was going to die, my dr, said to have a diet high in fiber, have to take metamucil every day for rest of my life, scary thing.
@SonorenceAl100 i believe they're called naturopath's and i wish you, your're father family and friends the very very very best health you're father especially. peace and love. (by the way how is your father managing?)
my friend just told me he has diverticulitis and he said his doctor told him NOT to eat ANY fiber. I think he should sue his doctor. Obviously he wants to keep selling him whatever it is he's selling him.
