@SolarEclipse1897 In the beginning, they are talking about war and the German folks, but its not easy to understand, even as a German. After that, a man says "There's no escape." A bit later, a woman talks to her daughter about the father. The girl asks her mother if he will come back, so the mother says that the father is on a long journey. You can interpret it like the father lies in some sort of coma.
