The Building of a REAL Log Home kit in Vermont

By simply looking at it, building a log house may seem difficult. That's why these experts are here to do the job for us. Not all men have the knowledge to do such craft.

Do you need to put those long screws in each log you put down? I would really like to know more about the construction of these

@rangaman86 Hi. I was told when I built mine to put the long screws every two feet in every log cource also was told each cource of log should have calk or they make rolls of thin foam that can be used.

the thin bolts are deciving they are temperd and VERY strong. hope this helps

@sonny4223 Many log homes require bolts that go top to bottom (all-thread) 1 foot off each window and door opening and within every 5 feet along the wall. This depends on where you live and what kind of house it is (hand crafted / milled kit). Personally I would only have a full size log home, I don't like milled small logs that look like siding.

@BlueRidge27 It is not technically difficult - it takes more brawn than brains to get one together! A basic knowledge of building will help though, as will knowing some basic trouble shooting skills to be able to figure out the details, like how to lift heavy things real high!
