The book n show is completely different. I like the show better tho. In the book, there are too much drama. Based on the book, Elena became a vampire before Katherine comes to their life & stuff, in the show she doesn't wanna b vampire. Also in the show, Caroline never stole Elena's diary

@theonewiththesecret in the books elena has 2 best friends - bonnie and meredith. meredith is a bit like stefan - careful and strong (&both think a lot). her grandfather was attact by klaus many years ago, so he was the one who knew about the originals even tho he went mad. meredith turned out to be a vampire hunter.. in one of the last books. the books are sooo diffrent from the series but i changed my mind about it - first read the books & now i love the show <3
