This was what fun was all about going out danceing why can we show are kids how to go out and have fun to bad RJ and nat got in to the bull crap runing tits bars and girls but it was fun
@alredman40 Now you're just making up crap just for the sake of assumption. RJs father was murdered back in 1991 and after that he lost the drive to produce television. Neither one had ANYTHING to do with running a strip club. The girls used the show to promote themselves and not all were strippers. That's fact and not fiction.
I can't explain how much I love this. I remember watching TNDS after I got back from Junior High School. Just that crazy mix of hip-hop-club music, house and electro that defines Detroit clubbin back in the late 80's through the late 90s. Incredible.
Before The New Dance Show there was The Scene, which started in the '70s on the same station TV62 WGPR. And they played techno pretty much since the beginning.
@Majesticon they have alwasy played house and techno. Before it was called "The New Dance Show" it was called "The Scene" check some of the old footage. I grew up on 7 Mile and Conant.
this is what im talkin about the original; this is the show that Dance Party tries to imitate but will never duplicate...i remember watchin this when i was a kid i loved it! i went to the 20th annaversary bash in 08' ...they still got it too...i heard this was Reggies
Now THAT'S Ol' Skool!!!!! The mixes by Jesse the Body and Leon Purse were my favorite parts of the show. They were two huge influences on my DJing career. Damn I miss the days of "Blow Your House Down" and Ol' Skool D-Tech. Thanks for the awesome post!!!
OMG!!!!! I remember being a kid watching this and I couldn't wait to get gown so I could get on the New Dance Show. I am 27 and wish I could go back to the days when Detroit was Detroit. Thank you Caprice for the memories.
I LOVE IT!! :-D

I may not be from Detroit, but IMO The Scene was actually a much more superior and watchable program than this flashy tripe.
