  • I LOVE IT!! :-D

  • I may not be from Detroit, but IMO The Scene was actually a much more superior and watchable program than this flashy tripe.

  • do you know how much coke was used in this show???

  • what's the first background track?

  • Thank you Mayer Hawthorne for bringing me here.

  • I was born the wrong color in the wrong era. I should be there.

  • wher's the old man that dressed up like drakula, and did the james brown?

  • I Think this is from 1987 it is on the background on the dance line

  • @prince48206 No it's 1988. November 1st to be exact.

  • D E T R O I T wuttt!!

  • use to watch this shit EVERYDAY after school....Windsor/Detroit in the house

  • This was what fun was all about going out danceing why can we show are kids how to go out and have fun to bad RJ and nat got in to the bull crap runing tits bars and girls but it was fun

  • @alredman40 Now you're just making up crap just for the sake of assumption. RJs father was murdered back in 1991 and after that he lost the drive to produce television. Neither one had ANYTHING to do with running a strip club. The girls used the show to promote themselves and not all were strippers. That's fact and not fiction.

  • @beardsha9

sounds like "Lets Get It Started" by MC Hammer

  • I MISS THE NDS AND CHANNEL 62 DETROIT

  • I can't explain how much I love this. I remember watching TNDS after I got back from Junior High School. Just that crazy mix of hip-hop-club music, house and electro that defines Detroit clubbin back in the late 80's through the late 90s. Incredible.

  • Pam Thomas, Lawanda, Jezzel, Fast Freddie...these were some SERIOUS dancers! This brings back so many memories from my teenage years.

  • It brings back a lot of memories.

  • Mdrrrrrrrrr les shows à l'américaine.

Cette vidéo réunit tous les clichés que je pouvais me faire sur les USA de l'époque..

  • when did they start playing techno and house on this show?

  • Day 1

  • Before The New Dance Show there was The Scene, which started in the '70s on the same station TV62 WGPR. And they played techno pretty much since the beginning.

  • @Majesticon they have alwasy played house and techno. Before it was called "The New Dance Show" it was called "The Scene" check some of the old footage. I grew up on 7 Mile and Conant.

  • this is what im talkin about the original; this is the show that Dance Party tries to imitate but will never duplicate...i remember watchin this when i was a kid i loved it! i went to the 20th annaversary bash in 08' ...they still got it too...i heard this was Reggies

  • I Love the New Dance Show!!! I Miss it!!!

  • loving detroit always rep my city thats when i loved home miss it so much

  • Was there a name for that dance @ 9:41? That's the best move of the 90's

  • is that Condoleezza Rice in the background?

  • Now THAT'S Ol' Skool!!!!! The mixes by Jesse the Body and Leon Purse were my favorite parts of the show. They were two huge influences on my DJing career. Damn I miss the days of "Blow Your House Down" and Ol' Skool D-Tech. Thanks for the awesome post!!!

  • why was i born so late... amazing, truely amazing!!!!!!

  • now that's what i'm talking about old school footage with some house music on it !

  • OMG!!!!! I remember being a kid watching this and I couldn't wait to get gown so I could get on the New Dance Show. I am 27 and wish I could go back to the days when Detroit was Detroit. Thank you Caprice for the memories.

  • Thank u sooooooo much for sharing this! Bringing back fond memories of growing up in tha D :)

  • M-D-Emm got my attention, but the rest was a pop show. Maybe I need to watch more.

  • Cheryl Peoples was the TRUTH!!!

I am still looking for Shiela Frost, she went to Lutheran East high school in harper woods. She was the reason I started watching the scene!!

  • How did Sheila Frost look? I might have a tape with her on it.
