Plus, that test didn't show packet loss and jitter. If they had launched pingtest.net at the time I recorded this then I could have run that it it would have shown a major difference.

I could have got DSL 4X faster at $34.99, very cheap for today. My 9.99 was a special never go up intro fee. I use it mostly for text off-line media. note: I grew up with 56K not 700+M connection.

Well, if you get cable or fiber optic it's going to be WAAAY better than DSL. Fiber Optic is better than cable but that doesn't mean cable isn't worth looking at. It comes down to price and reliability, and around here, Verizon Fios is much more reliable than Comcast (which is ironic, because Verizon DSL was horrible).

Yeah, it sucks. I wish everyone could have fast internet. As much as I love Fios, there is no denying that it is overpriced, but really, internet has always been overpriced. You'd think in this day and age we would be at a point where fast connection, being the norm, would be cheaper. It sucks when I'm playing Xbox and there are some really cool people in a game but I can't get a good game going with/against them because they don't have a good connection.

It's not just Massachusetts. Comcast has huge lobbying teams to help push their interests, and they're trying to prevent many towns around the country from putting in a fiber optic network, thus, preventing Fios. I don't know how this isn't violating some kind of antitrust act. Comcast is one of the worst companies in business today.
And it's not just areas with black people. For example, Dracut, MA is mostly white people and they don't have Fios either.

In South korea where they have the fastest internet in the world they are planning on getting speeds that can reach 1gbps. There internet is also far cheaper than ours.

DSL sucks!!!! My "optimal" download speed is supposedly 1.15mbs, but when I actually download something, it's .1mbs, or 100kbs (on a really good day). I can't wait to get FiOS, then get it with Vonage and dump my landline that casts close to 100/month, and save loads of money while having a great internet connection.

Best thing to do is use Youtube's bulk uploader plugin (doesn't time out as often as the regular uploader on a long upload) and set the video to upload overnight. Make sure your computer isn't set to go to sleep or anything in that amount of time.
That's what I had to do when I had DSL. It sucked, but it was the only way to get stuff uploaded.

Nope, FIOS is great. Every once in a while, the connection will slow down a bit and I have to power down the modem for 15 seconds to fix it, but even when it slows down, it is still worlds faster than DSL, and it only happens once every 2-3 months.

With both my brother and I using two separate laptops on wireless at the same time. I got 0.11 m/b download and 70 ping. 0.86 m/b when alone and wired to router. Verizon dsl is awesome.
DSL disconnects about 50 times a day ...i end up repairing my connection in internet options alot..they told me yesturday someone come to fix...but they never showed up?
lol, I did the same thing all the time, fixing the connection myself. I had called customer service so many times I could recognize when it was something I could fix myself or when they needed to actually do something on their end. Pretty sad actually. If you have the money, Fios is definitely worth it, much more reliable, and a hell of a lot faster (the "slow" plan that we have blows away most people on Xbox live, unless they have fiber optics themselves).

With both my brother and I using two separate laptops on wireless at the same time. I got 0.11 m/b download and 70 ping. 0.86 m/b when alone and wired to router. Verizon dsl is awesome.

The price for TV, Phone, and Internet was better than the separate bills we had before with Verizon DSL, the home phone line, and Direct TV.
So it depends on what you are paying already. It's definitely worth it if you do a lot of video uploading and online gaming.

Fios or DSL? When I had Verizon DSL, we lost connection all the time.
We've only had one outage so far with Fios.

DSL disconnects about 50 times a day ...i end up repairing my connection in internet options alot..they told me yesturday someone come to fix...but they never showed up?

lol, I did the same thing all the time, fixing the connection myself. I had called customer service so many times I could recognize when it was something I could fix myself or when they needed to actually do something on their end. Pretty sad actually. If you have the money, Fios is definitely worth it, much more reliable, and a hell of a lot faster (the "slow" plan that we have blows away most people on Xbox live, unless they have fiber optics themselves).

So im looking in to FIOS.. And i cant find what different plans they offer... I know they have a 20/5 and a 35/30 in select areas... But is that the FASTEST they go?? 20/5 would be nice.. but currently on cable i get 30/2 So i Def need more Upload..

I believe the fastest they have is 50/25, but that speed is only available in certain areas.
