Intersesting. I'll give it a solid maybe. This is only because I have already planned on playing other games, one of which some GW2 fans will say I'm stupid for wanting to play. Then again since this game is free to play. I may just play both.
GW2 is not WoW EX: WoW the only "evil" things about the dragons(which really was only 1 out of 5[maybe 2 if you consider Malygos but he was only doing his job]) is when they are corrupted by outside sources. In GW2 they seem to be evil already. So really Evil Dragons vs The People compared to Corrupted Beings(as in anything that the Burning Legion, Old Gods, whatever has tainted) vs The people of Azeroth. I know some people dont care but people should know detail before complaining right?
whats odd to me is that in every single (mmo)rpg that i've played, i've always played as a ranger/hunter what ever you call it. and in this game i find it as the most boring profession in the game... i for myself want to be an asura thief :)

okay about WoW players and GW players, ive meet a bunch of dicks on both. ive meet a lot of really cool people on both. This game is very different than any other MMO out there...both in the design, gameplay, character depth, storyline, and yes...the graphics & artistry. All of this stems from the choice to use a different business model than Blizzard (Wow), Sony (EQ), and nearly all others. Rather than force players to grind to get to the fun parts of the game, their business model gives them the freedom to deliver that fun throughout the character's entire life. THAT is success...players benefit is huge!

Having played both,I can fairly comment on WoW and GW.Originally, I was more interested to see WoW and how it would continue the story set before it (to me the story was the best part) and I was quite disappointed. With all the potential available, they instead put the story in the background and focused on being a repetitive questing grindfest. GW on the otherhand tried to be more innovative and though there were improvements that could be made (which are being made for GW2) it was successful

@bakuretsukan get your facts right before posting please. Guild Wars: Eye of the North came out in 2007. In that game they foreshadowed what Guild Wars 2 would be. That's years ahead of World of Warcraft so tell me who copied who?
Eh. You can't get by in the entertainment industry these days without copying anyone, but for the record:
The "great dragon" dudes (Zhaitan for example) were introduced way back with Eye of the North, a bit after the first WOW expansion was released. On the other hand, the idea of a dragon that raises hell and blows stuff up was already a pretty big fantasy cliche... Besides, ArenaNet is mostly made up of ex-Blizzard employees who, for the most part, invented WOW before leaving.
@bakuretsukan LoL GW has had this idea since it was first developed, I just think they thought they would be adding it to GW1. They also announced zytan way before cataclysm was announced even though they only had 1 dragon to begin with. WoW is a shitty game build for people who like grinding and button pushing.
Dragons? 5 races. True Guild Wars players are more interested in "that" shadow over the Maguuma Jungle. Going back to the Catacombs of Ascalon (even Divinity's Reach like in the book). Hell Yah.

This whole "dragons rise and destroy ffff everything" doesn't make much sense for me. In Cataclysm (WoW), at least that specific dragon was pissed off for a while for obvious reasons you find in the lore ;P

The founders of ArenaNet, those being Mike O'Brien, Patrick Wyatt and Jeff Strain - They played important roles in developing the games Warcraft, StarCraft, Diablo, Diablo 2 and helped develop the Battle.net gaming network. They all left Blizzard before WoW was in development. :)

But don't worry: A lot of them will be a plus in GW2. There will always be the occasional idiot, but really; most players, who come from WoW, will be plusses for GW2.

Having played both,I can fairly comment on WoW and GW.Originally, I was more interested to see WoW and how it would continue the story set before it (to me the story was the best part) and I was quite disappointed. With all the potential available, they instead put the story in the background and focused on being a repetitive questing grindfest. GW on the otherhand tried to be more innovative and though there were improvements that could be made (which are being made for GW2) it was successful

Too bad WoW is easily one of the worst MMO's ever made... the only fruit cakes that like wow are kids who have never played a decent MMO in their life.. EQ , DAOC, Anarchy Online.. etc etc. The only thing ive ever heard from a wow nerd defending their homo game is Why do so many people play it? it's because so many 13 year olds and young teenagers have never played 1 solid MMO or RPG for that matter. Besides a lot of things are cookie cutter including wow , it copied numerous games before it.

@swskimer Worst MMO ever, but has +12million subs (and growing). Also, your gross generalization of the community, and abhorrent WoW-bashing is childish. It may not be perfect, but WoW has proven to be quite successful. They have their formula (disagree with it or not), but it works.
I've stopped playing WoW (got bored with the rat-race), and look forward to GW2 bringing back the RPG in MMORPG. There is no reason both games can't be successful at the same time.

@bakuretsukan get your facts right before posting please. Guild Wars: Eye of the North came out in 2007. In that game they foreshadowed what Guild Wars 2 would be. That's years ahead of World of Warcraft so tell me who copied who?

Eh. You can't get by in the entertainment industry these days without copying anyone, but for the record:
The "great dragon" dudes (Zhaitan for example) were introduced way back with Eye of the North, a bit after the first WOW expansion was released. On the other hand, the idea of a dragon that raises hell and blows stuff up was already a pretty big fantasy cliche... Besides, ArenaNet is mostly made up of ex-Blizzard employees who, for the most part, invented WOW before leaving.

They also announced zytan way before cataclysm was announced even though they only had 1 dragon to begin with. WoW is a shitty game build for people who like grinding and button pushing.

This whole "dragons rise and destroy ffff everything" doesn't make much sense for me. In Cataclysm (WoW), at least that specific dragon was pissed off for a while for obvious reasons you find in the lore ;P
