@crankinozzer : If you can, get the Cherokee. You won't have to worry about dings and scratches. The Liberty will take you almost everywhere a decently built Cherokee will. Personally I'm not much into bashing my Jeep on rocks just for the hell of it. I'm more into exploring and expeditions. It's gotten me through every trail i've attempted (many times with the help of a good spotter).
Ive been looking at 1997 to 04 grand cherokee (zj-wj) or 2004 to 2007 liberty whats your pros and cons? and as far as avialability for lifts and aftermarket parts there harder to find for kj's any good sites for them? Thanks much
ok here is the whole jeep offroad line up. Jeep Liberty can handle trails that are pretty tuff( ie steep slopes and uneven surfaces) however i would never take my kj out to the serious stuff like rock crawling and going up slopes that are incredibly verticle. that is were the Wrangler comes in so there
Hey, nice vid. I recognize some of those KJs from JeepKJcountry. All I've got around here is mud, it'd be nice to wheel somewhere other than northern Alberta.
so right now I have an 08 xterra, i love that thing, it has taken me anywhere I wanted to go....but the time has come that I need a cheaper car payment, I have been looking at the 02 03 libertys, and wonder how they do off road? i dont do really any moab stuff, its mostly trails, alot of trails are pretty ruff. thanks for the input
They do remarkably well off road. People are often surprised to see it tackle some tough trails that they just did in their heavily built rigs. Of course it has it's limitations. For the extreme stuff, you just can't beat a well built Wrangler.
Thanks for giving myself and the Libby more confidence, Ultimately I want to get a YJ and keep the Liberty stock for highway...but wheres the challenge in THAT?? :) Great Vid
I have a stock liberty, what do you recommend as modifications?
I also thought about buying an older Cherokee so the daily drive does not get beat up. What do you recommend?

@jeepinedv
I thought so, I am a rookie here so it's probably gonna take few dings & scratches to learn my ways around.
Yep, they come relatively cheap here, the cherokees so that's what I'll be looking for. Thanks and keep up the awesome vids!!!

I have a liberty and the truth is libertys just dont cut it off road. Time to up grade to a XJ libertys are the mall rompers
skeeterules 2 years ago
you mean down grade to an xj. a liberty is some much better. the only thing the xj has is a sfa. YOUR liberty might suck off road. not mine
