  • I think this a wery good killing machine, espessialy here in norway and in fact we have a 30mm versio of it here in norway.

But to the ooint. Poxy fushes for dealing with lets say entrenched infantry have beenn alon for a weeery long timt The cv90 was just the first ifv doing it with an auto cannon. Artillery have had proxy before inpact since ww2 and thee ruzkies in their 125 mnt guns. Probably nato has something similar in their tank guns, i dony know. If somevidy knows,. post. Scans..

  • Everyone should drive a CV90

  • the Swedes, saving the world one Minibus at a time

  • How does the round memorize the information????????

  • @AirsoftInfanteer It's still in prototype.

  • Those shotshell rounds are impressive, that's one helluva duck hunter right there

  • Thats... Pretty scary.

  • Is this how Sonny Bono got it? Guess my summer of smoking Ganga in Sweden is cancelled?

  • that's impressive technology

  • Hey man! Ive been searching the whole scandinavia for a VW vanagon split window, and what do i see.... the freckin army shooting one to pieces as a demonstration. Me is not a happy chappy now :)

  • damn it would be cool to use this in WW2. Slow loading AT guns were less effective than one round from this semi auto. That's like a battalion of AT guns packed in one cannon you could take out a horde of tanks alone.

  • i think im gonna be nicer to swedish people lol

  • How much is this machine? I want one because I go to visit my mother in law

  • Needs a Javelin launcher and then maybe Ill trade a Bradley for this

  • they could have loaded that minibus with some hippies

  • thats scary

  • BTR3 seriously needs this technology

  • the 90120 lite thank has a 120 mm anti tank gun ther are many verions on the 90

  • Looks like a very capable vehicle, does anyone know how it compares price wise with the Bradley/Warrior/Puma ?

  • Finland ordered 102 of them for 2.92 million euros per veichle.

Before that they ordered 57 of them with a unit price of 4.42 million euros.

So it depends how many you order.

  • What genius designed the empty casing to be launched directly upward?!? Seems like an easily avoidable way to put up a flag marking position.....

  • I think, it is that or leaving the cases inside the turret and since the vehicle is firing, that should give it´s positions away anyway...

  • @swertinge07 Unless close, the sound of firing will only give away the direction. Unfortunately it's a fact that the CV9040 disposes empty rounds upwards. It's a liability since it increases the chances of it being pinpointed by quite a big ammount. Fortunately, the rounds travel faster than sound so when firing from 2000m away. The empty rounds will most likely have hit the ground once the sound reaches the enemy.

  • Yeah, like the heat, sound and muzzle flash doesn't give away the position anyway?

  • No. Even a 10m uncertainty in position several hundred meters away can make all the difference if someone wants to hit you. Visibility depends on concealment, equipment available to the opponent etc. Those extra meters into the air can easily make the difference between staying hidden amongst trees and not (especially given the low height of trees in northern Scandinavia). The CV9030 with Bushmaster 30mm thrusts the casing out forward and across the hood. Much better.

  • The bushmaster 30mm is another gun.

They had to put the bofors upside down for it to even fit into the turret, it was either that or design a new turret.

And when you open fire, the enemy is alrdy dead.

  • You don´t think opening fire will give away the position...?

  • The 40mm is devastating. Great protection, against 30mm on front and 14.5mm KPVT on the sides. Much better than bradley, weighs in the same 23 tonnes but half the size. i think an amphibious capability is essential especially in a country like Sweden. BMP-3 would do, with it's also advanced fire controls and powerfull weaponry: 100mm main gun which can also fire eight AT-10 Stabber ATGMs from the barrel, 30mm fast-action cannon which penetrated side armor of Leo1 at trials and three 7.62mm mgs.

  • Penetrating the side of a Leo 1 isn't much to write home about. The Leo 1 was designed in an era before composite armor. Given the circumstances (that being that there was no practical way to armor against HEAT warheads) the germans decided to save on armor, giving mobility and soft defense priority.

  • I loved to run this when I was doing military service.

  • WOW

  • I though the German Puma was a nice IFV but it takes a back seat when compared to the Swedish CV-90.

  • god damn the sound of cv:s are coooool!

  • Yes they use a 14 litre Scania V8 , same as the trucks do but whit more power :) i also love this sound :)

  • 650 hp... i think it it? pretty sure enyways :)

  • i remember when a bunch of them passed my platoon in the field. I got the exhaust strait in the face and the sound was just amazing! Its a Saab V8 engine with one big ass turbo... i think

  • a whole bunch of them passed my platoon once, and we got the exhaust strait in the face. Two huge holes who let us hear that kick ass turbo charged Scania engine. I soiled my self. But the w12 in a leo2 is even better ;O

  • nice, good thing is that we got both, leo 2 and cv:s in Finland ^^

  • Man, have you not heard about the 5 million dollar armored vehicle project our government anounced a while back. We're ordering some tracked fighting vehicles to escort the infantry and Leopards. The LAV-3s are most likely being upgraded to the LAV-3-H or whatever its called.

  • 5 billion

  • this would have been an exellent choice for canadian forces in afghanistan due to the 40mm round's destructive capability the 25mm bushmaster is nearly half as effective.

  • I really hope Canada chooses this for our future close combat vehicles fleet.

  • Buying american would be way cheaper. But This is the best there is. Canada is rich, so why not.

  • this vehicle kix ass

  • not bad, Swedish got some good staffs

  • Why would an IFV be in an area where there is enemy armour, without MBT support? The idea of this vehicle is to protect the troops it is carrying and provide fire support. It's biggest rival is probably the BMP-3 and that can launch ATGMs from 5km away but has (apparently) terrible armour. Unlike the CV-4090

  • A CV 90 with Anti-tank missils can probably knock down a Abram.

  • It can do it with its 40mm bofors in all angles exept front. In nort of sweden they sometimes are better then leo2 because they can move almost everywere and suprise attack from rear ore side.

  • Lets see an M1 Abrams take a jedi :P

  • well that would been uneven, but Leo2 Vs Abrams, abrams will die before it ever knew what hit it.

  • Leo? Abrams? Forget 'em, there is a new king in town, the Korean K2 Black Panther.

  • Wow, Im glad they're on our side O.o

  • I'm impressed with this 40 mm ammo. Have there been any tests against a Leopard or t-72?

  • Doubt it can do much more then destroy there tracks and run. Maybe the side armor of a t-72 but the main purpose of this vechile is transporting the 8 soldiers inside. They are used toghether with the leopard 2 tanks to give them infantry support making it a really nasty team :)

  • the 40 mm gun can kill a mbt in side and rear. it have done it many times on leo2 in northen sweden.

  • Really? You guys have old leo2 hulls to practice on? By side you mean lower hull (between the wheels), upper hull and turret? Dang.

  • The second minibus (FIAT I guess) was really funny - hit in the roof, doors open, doors close - looked like it let two following rounds in, and if there are doors on the other side - let them out as well - so it stayed pretty much intact. 8)

  • impressive

i'll hope ..our army will get them...

they will take easly any russian tank or light carrier

  • DAMMIT!! i just parked my mimbus there for one minute and look what happens lol

  • @niemigasm101 I can tape it for you :)

  • @niemigasm101 Should have not parked where you were parked LOL.

  • ps. cv:s ROCK's been there done that -res serg.

  • sweden ain't even close to be on top 10 but their war machine manufacturing is in top 10. (30 000 men what a waste..)

  • Nice video!

  • and btw, favourited! ;)

  • wow! I am impressed, definitely when I heard the last sentence...!

    "...the most advance system today..."

    Swedish military rock! 5/5

  • OMG must be the most brutal CV in the world!

  • nice nice

  • those infantry rounds are deadly as fuck

  • HELL YEAH! Sweden is number 1! :D

This vid is a proof of it! hah!

  • this is some scary shit

  • fy fan

  • The CV90 is not a tank , it is a combat vehicle. A combat vehicle is used for transportation of infantry soldiers and engaging targets such as APC:s, helicopters, trucks etc. The CV90 is a system cordinated with the Leopard 2 (strv 122) main battle tank in the 122/90 battalions. Thats why is useless to compare the CV90 with a MBT. The CV90 should be compared with the Bradley , Warrior etc.

  • Now that's going to be a good tank to use during a war.

  • The swedish forces uses it in international peace keeping missions. I would run as hell if i was up against one of those... XD

  • Those plastic barrels never stood a chance.

  • i WANT ONE

  • Hippies Beware

  • Mission Completed ;)

  • Die love bus 1:30.

  • love this vid :)

  • Sweden have over 500 CV90 in different versions, pretty awesome vehicles.

The AA version won 9 out of 10 duel combat with the apache longbow helicopter during live trials (laser) in north of Sweden (US pilots)...

  • Was that the test when the Apaches got a software error because their maps didn't go far enough north? =)

  • From what I heard the longbow's warning-system wasn't tuned to register the radar type that we use. Can't say I know that much about the radar system, since I was a happy driver, but that's what one of our officers said.

But during exercises HKP9 was always FI and they never had much of a chance. Wasn't uncommon that they got bored and called it a day before lunch.

  • It has night and day channels for thermal readings and laser range finder. A separate command and control vehicle ( and its battlefield management system) is interacting with all the CV-90´s fire control

  • what is the targeting/target aquisition system, IR/CCP?

  • well its actually an IFV.

  • death to russkies. this platform rules.

  • epl. rounds are forbiden to use against live power...people I mean...I guess that is out the window now! this mech. is devastatingly awesome! yep...3p, u cannot even hide behind conrners or anywhere for that matter

  • Well that doesn't count for artillery, or even if it does people don't even know who their shooting at. Besides, what does it matter whether you shoot someone with an explosive rocket or projectile, they die all the same. Pretty grim this business.

  • Actualy that is "Explosive rounds less than 400g or expanding bullets", and ASFAIK interpretation nowdays is that those rounds that don't have any significant area effect (fragments).

"Peace"-activists ofcource try to bend that old treaty to suit their own purppose, but it havent prevented use of 40mm grenade launchers.

  • That´s my tank :D can´t whait too practise with it.

  • Scary stuff!

  • yeah right! :)

  • nice but ugle

  • Poor Kombi copped it

  • awesome

  • kewl

  • 3P, I love it
