This is a very somber song, and Brad tried to capture it as such, and also tried to emulate Nick Drake's style of singing, by playing very behind the beat. I think you ought to not play this particular tune this way, as it is a very solemn vibe.

Man I really like this. I was trying to learn Meldaus cover of Riverman live by ear and I was looking for a video of him playing it and stumbled upon this. Totally different and completely awesome.

Yeah, Brad plays the vocal melody along with the 5/4 tempo. You don't have the vocal part - you should try to put it in there.
