God damn it! Look at that at 0:47! Those were great days! When the stage was centimeters away from the audience! That was direct contact with the audience. A big plus in the whole experience. Not like now that it's 10 meters away and even when you are in front you need binoculars to see the artist playing! Where did the magic go?
I see him more as an alternate version of Stevie Ray. He certainly isn't "better" than either of them. Saying any one of Stevie Ray and Rory were better than each other is simply wrong and saying ANYONE was better than Hendrix is simply pretentious and ignorant.
thank you m tv for taking real talent away from us holy blistered fingers lucky enough 2 c him live in boston 1978 my head is still somewhere in paradise club over 2 hours of the same intensity in this vid if head found throw in garbage AMAZING
so underated its a crime ...just goes to show that most of the so called experts don't know their arse from their elbows ...for me Rory was a class above Jimmy Page/Paige....better than Clapton and could out do any of the Yanks ....yet he's ignored these days ..
Wow! That slide-solo is one of the coolest things i've seen lately. With that outragious bassplayer and the dancing audiance. It's got early heavymetal in it, and some punk, a lot of rock'n roll and of course this incredible whiteman southern-blues. Really genious.
Devastating combination of passion, talent and performance. Rory was the real deal. Posers like Kid Rock and many of today's ilk aren't worthy of breathing the same air.
Angus took influences from Chuck Berry mainly, I think AC/DC started around the same time as Rory[probably wrong] but if you look this was 5 years after AC/DC released their first album
And 9 years after Rory released his first album, 11 years if you count Taste. Rory also was influenced by Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochrane, Buddy Holly, and many others.
so why you talk if you dont know. Gallagher was about 5 years earlier than the AC DC and many others but this kind of competitors talk in music is just empty speech. Go and play yourself and than have public like those who know all better all the time.
Any fans get their asses to Ballyshannon every june for the rory gallagher festival in donegal ireland. its the place he was born and you'll never experience anything like it. Been there every year since the start!!!
i think gerih333 is right in alot lists of greatest guitar players im missing one name RORY !!! Why is he for gotten? Cos i my opinion he was one of the best! Ow yea what guitar is he playing?
Rory was afraid of flying which limited his touring in the USA which might have hurt his popularity...not that Rory was that much into thewhole celebrity thing....(IMHO)
I saw him live 1979 in Germany. Please ... EVERYBODY OUT THERE: Please tell me and respond, how, HOW could Rolling Stone Magazine forget about putting him under the Top-100 Rock-Guitarists? You find the list on the magazine´s own site via intern search - read who´s there and compare. Quit buying the magazine, all I can say ...
amazing... simply amazing... sooo much talent and passion and energy... that dude meant every breath, every note... goddamn motherf'n rory gallagher... god bless his mad irish soul...
Never knew much about the guy until I happened to be at a gig in Leeds in the late 80's - blew me away, he summed up live music - you could tell he loved it as much as his audience - GENIUS!!
I will never forgive my father. He, as my musical mentor has allowed me not to have even one CD, or DVD with this magic. Fucking great player. Jebate sta je dobar. :)
Saw this done live in 1970 at the Kelvin Hall in Glasgow. Tremendous base solo by Gerry NcAvoy. A pal of mine tried to storm the stage single handed and was kicked in the teeth by a bouncer. Also my brother was dancing about with hsi eyes shut and punched a lassie in the mouth by accident. Her boyfriend was not amused.
kakeup.... theres a rory tribute festival in ballyshannon in Donegal every year around June/July and it is the next best thing. Bands from all over europe play and there are some really mint covers... I HIGHLY recommend it ! :)
i went 2 see Raw Gallagher which are a Rory tribute. and they were really good. they introduced me 2 Philby which is not one of my favourite Rory songs :D:D
Man Thanks to my friend Jim Glynn for dragging me to my first Rory Concert! Saw him about 6 times total and loved it all and still have dreams where I play like Rory. He's the best. Went to Dublin like 15 years ago and did a pub crawl of all the places he played:) that was cool
Steve vai, joe sat, clap etc but this guy was the best because cant think of one guitarist in all time that
expressed the guitar in such emotion which is wat its all about.
