  • 0:00 OOOOOOOAH!!

    LLOLL

  • hahaha great. And without Kers or DRS !!!!

  • Ha!!!! 0.56 I ducked,, BRILLIANT Jean. What a racer and what a great man. No bullSh*t from him, straight from the heart..Loved him @ Jordan. Thanks for the vid.

  • Good pass by jean

    I

  • Funny thing about alesi- there was a f1 drivers poll on who their all time favourite drivers were and alesi was way up there with the greats.yes he was his own worst enemy and wasn't popular with todt & co but by Christ he could drove the wheels of anything when pushed.phoenix Gp ( re overtaking senna) and even putting a sauber on front row when qualifying in the wet.the guy is a true legend and f1 misses his like

  • perfect overtake alesi !!

  • oooooooorrrrrhhhhhh!!!

  • @djedge10 I swear I heard one of them say cum after he made that noise :P

  • @Weallfollowmanutd Disagree, Alesi was a great driver, and could have been champ if not for bad luck. He chose Ferrari in 91' when they were on top, but Adrain Newey went to Williams and they started dominating. In 95 Benetton were awesome, Alesi went there in 96, but Ross Brawn switched from Benetton to Ferrari, and they started dominating. Brawn and Newey are possibly the two best technical personell in f1 history, both have dominated F1, Alesi was unlucky enough to never drive for either.

  • the sound of that v12 is phenominal

  • I think the semi was first used in 1989-I'm sure Mansell used it that season

  • @pannell81 Yeah it was, think John Barnard was responsible.

  • his 4 gp race

  • That pass was ill.

  • beautiful piece of driving :)

  • Lol, after the pass his Ferrari V12 is like "EAT MY FLAME!"

  • I like the 10-2 hand position

  • @carsismeZ06

I had the pleasure of seeing Alesi working the wheel at the Yas Marina circuit a couple of months ago ina a 2 seater F1. It was incredible. You cannot believe how much the braking forces your neck forwards. That guy was/is a legend after seeing him first hand.

  • F.E.A.R.L.E.S.S love alesi one of the last hard chargers

  • They had sequential autos in this year? It's weird how some teams used the regular shifting and some used the paddles.

  • @supercooled, Ferrari invented it in 1990 and it took other teams several years to master the technology (Williams had theirs in 1991). It wasn't until late 1995 when all F1 teams had semi-automatic gearboxes.

  • @jwdogfst Thanks for the info. I guess it shouldn't be surprise Ferrari and Schumacher won so many championships. They were given free reign to add performance aids. Sure racing now is more processional but at least every team is on a pretty even keel.

  • the sound of that engine is orgasmic

  • mara!!!

  • Fantastic double overtaking. For me, Alesi was "the great unfortunate French driver". On many occasions, he deserved more luck than the one he actually had...

  • STFU you German twats. I want to hear the V12 sing!

  • Very brave

  • fantastic double overtaking!

  • For all ppl saying Alesi missed something the great racers had, well, he missed LUCK. He was faster than Berger all around but poor reliability of Ferrari-Benetton 91-97 made him loose a lot of results. He retired while racing competitive in the lead or in 2nd place in no less than 8 races in those years. He didn't miss anything, he was plainly unlucky.

  • I agree, he deserved at least one championship for his great driving. He is one of the memorable drivers, nonetheless...

  • lcville, I agree, and bad luck aside, he totally mistimed his team choices also. But in this onboard video, we can see 2 typical Alesi caracteristics. 1), The way he leans his head when he turns, it's almost out of the car! 2), The position of his hands on the wheel, at 10h20 instead of the classic 9h15. Alesi was a great driver who deserved sooo much more.

  • @lcville

Id say it was a mix of both luck and poor career choice. He was offered a drive for Williams, yet went with his heart and drove for Ferrari (as you've probably already said). which was a questionable decision

Looking back over old seasons, Jean did spend quite a lot of time driving into people, but he was one of the most exciting drivers to watch. His driving style is awesome, big leans and hand position on the wheel.

We need more people like him willing to stick one up the inside.

  • @lcville - He was ahead or in 2nd place when retiring in more than 8 races I think. Alesi was cursed. When he finished with Ferrari in 1995, he joined Bennetton and his crappy luck continued with them too.

  • @lcville - He was ahead or in 2nd place when retiring in more than 8 races I think. Alesi was cursed. When he finished with Ferrari in 1995, he joined Bennetton in 1996 and his crappy luck continued with them too.

Though I must admit that I was always paying attention to how Nigel Mansell and Damon Hill and routing them on during the 90s, so at the time I wasn't that sympathetic about his bad luck. I feel for him now though. Bad luck sucks.

  • @lcville I am sorry but the Benneton was quite competitive.. He was penalized because he loved the rear loose, and that made him spectacular but not as fast as the others. I agree with you about the ferrari specially in the v12 era, but the benneton was a fine F1 car. I think Alesi missed the natural knowledge of developing a car, wich cleary Schumacher did both in Benneton and ferrari. Alesi joined Benneton in 96 and ferrari became competitive as benneton decaded alot at that time.

  • @JONICRACHATLEITAO Why nobody says anything about Berger? He was equal with Jean but nobody says he did lack development...he won 2 times in some 80 races with Alesi as teammate, Jean just 1. And believe me, Alesi retired more times when he had a chance to win than Berger did.

  • @lcville I think Gerhard did an excelent job in the Mclaren, he showed he was very fast, but i believe he lacked the spirit of a GP driver like Senna for example, the sacrifices that have to made are far grater than we imagine, and Berger as that funny casanova side of him, maybe that was it, to busy living what F1 as to offer outside the circuits. Senna believed that god had put him in the world to win, the divine right of wining, now that´s stanima and will power right there ;)

  • @lcville i will say something on Berger. In my point of view he is underrated. as you said Berger was quick as Alesi when they were teammatesat Ferrari and than at Benetton. Not to forget Berger was also as quick as Mansell in the only year they drove together (1989). In the race Mansell was quicker or more efficient, anyways with better results, but in qualifying Berger was an ace so it ended 8 to 8 of 16 qualifyings. he found his master in one man: Ayrton Senna.

  • @lcville For a greater understanding of what i´m trying to say type on youtube: Jean Alesi sliding through Monaco with Tyrrell

  • this car is on ebay. it says its ready to race. how bad ass would it be to own it and drive it around a race track

  • Catalunya´s Montmelo was a great track, look that fast section at 0.28 (supresed in 1995) and the two fast corners before the finish line (supresed in 2006)...now we´ve got a CRAPPY CIRCUIT for this Pussy F1 Drivers...

Crappy cars, crappy circuits, cunt drivers...F1 is just a load of SHIT

  • @sailretard You really do type the must stupid things i´ve ever seen. Go back to your cradle.

  • not bad

  • but one thing we must to say alesi is also a great driver much differente example as a driver called irvine in brazil he took 4 cars out the race in one move lol for sure a way up for many current driver alesi knows very well how the"works" rules inside the track

  • Yes, in a way that sums it all up. He never could get to the levels some of the greats reached. I think if he even drove for Williams like he was suppose to he would have been a let down. No disrespect intended, but he lacked a certain something.

  • Truth be told - when I have seen f1 live - Senna was VISIBLY the fastest and Alesi was VISIBLY equal to Senna as the latest brakers. But Senna was also visibly earlier on the power wheraz Alesi would be still gathering it up after over-committing on the way in.

  • Put any liquid on the race surface and Jean Alesi would fly. In any other situation you would be left scratching your head on where he was in the race. Granted Ferrari was going down hill at the time, but he did have good talent. One win only....... something was not right.

  • It was that Alesi had awesome car control - but that's all - no idea of technique, no technical skill, no overall gameplan - he should've been a rally star!

Quite possibly the biggest waste of potential in F1 history. But he DID have awesome car control and when everything else fell into place he was fast. But thats the difference - great drivers dont wait for everything els eto fall into place they take charge of those things (eg Senna and Prost's enormous efforts in achieving a good set-up.)

  • Now, even when Alesi made this fantastic move, does anybody remember how He got in all the weekend?

    Pole Position:Berger (1:18.75), then Mansell (+0.21), Ayrton (+0.31), Patrese (+0.89), Schuey (+1.182), teammate Prost (+1.185), Alesi (+1.44).

    Fasterst Lap: Patrese (1:22.837)

    Race: 1st was Nigel, 2nd Prost (+11.331), 3rd Patrese (+15.909), 4th Alesi (+22.772), 5th Senna (+1:02.402), and 6th Schuey (+ 1:19.468).

He was plenty fast and agressive, but his racing was not profitable at all....

  • Indeed - Martin Brundle once said "If car control was all a driver needed - Alesi would win every race"

Brundle states things succinctly and very well sometimes.

Yes Alesi had car control to burn - but not much else. Hence his abysmal overall results.

  • Brundle does come up with some gems sometimes.

  • If you remember this race, Alesi was penalized with a stop and go for being too aggressive off the start. Finishing only 22 seconds behind with a penalty and the second fastest lap (just clipped by Patrese) shows what could have been. He was definitely quicker than Prost this race.

  • webber is not even half as talented as Alesi was. (though Alesi never made the most of his talent - admittedly webber has made more of his rather limited talent.)

  • i NEVER SAW THIS BACK IN THE DAY - MUST HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT BROADCAST - THAT IS ALMOST THE BEST PASSING MOVE IVE EVER SEEN.

    SERIOUSLY AWESOME.

  • For sure it was an excellent overtaking (I don't remember having seen this one before, except back on the same the race took place (my memory doesn't help too much, lol) but I like best the one by Schuey on Alesi (in 95 I guess), Villeneuve on Jones in...79 or 80?, (don't remember), Mansell on Berger in Mexico 90 (Peraltada), Senna on Berger (Canada 93), Prost on Senna (P. Ricard 88), Prost on Senna and Hill in one move in Imola 93, Rosberg on Arnoux (81 or 82), Reutemann on Lauda (UK 78?), etc.

  • Berger- Mansell Mexico 90 is one of my all time favorite passes as well.

  • yep - that was HUGE! I dont know where Mansell fit those watermelons when he was on a charge!

  • Holy fuck!! I don't remember that one. What a pass by Alesi. Put Schumacher in his back pocket. Good luck ever seeing a pass like this with today's primadonnas they call drivers.

  • great move by alesi, it is 1991 to answer below comments.

  • Fantastic post! Thanks!

  • il en faut des c------ ca c est du jean j adore et toute les critique faites en autant

  • Fantastic pass, what a great driver Alesi was. But he was so unlucky all the way through his carrier

  • always had a vision of him doing that move and hanging on for dear life.

  • alesi was aggressive but always fair- i'm not sure you can say trhe same about weber...

  • Wen Alesi and Berger left Ferrari, I lost lost my F1 interest

  • it's 1992 not 1991....that's because first gp of Schumacher in F1 wer eBelgium 1991 in Jordan not in Benetton.....here Schumacher is already in Benetton and i remember this race.....10 May 1992...under rain, alesi finished tgird with a worst Ferrari of last 30 years.....after he started at 8th position

  • no its actually 1991. that year the race was close to the end of the season so Schumacher was already in the benneton. in 1992 Alesi overtook Schumacher at the start not during the race.

  • Great Jean Alesi!, two drivers in turn 1.

  • Alesi a legend!!!

  • It needs big cojones to do that!

  • Forza Ferrari let the V12 return to formula 1!!!!!

  • I'm not saying that Alesi suks...he does NOT he is one of the best but...from here u can see why Senna is the best...his magic behind the wheel...if u compare Alesi to Senna...guys just watch some of Senna's videos and u'll understeand

  • what a bad ass!

  • V12 Sounds better..

  • this is the best f1 overtaking ever!

  • Genial!!! Grande Alesi!!!!!!

  • la potenza del motore ford è nulla contro quella ferrari...

sarà stata un catorcio quell'auto...ma la ferrari è LA FERRARI!!

  • Alesi's car has nice sounds :)

  • what a great move from Alesi!! He showed Schumacher how to drive a car! Schumacher was the biggest cheater ever!

  • yeah!!!!! grande alesi!!!

  • Funny how almost every video involving Schumacher in youtube shows him being overtaken.

  • fantastic move of alesi, great driver.

  • Boy look at those flames!!!

  • mamma cosa ha fatto, fra l'altro con quel catorcio che era la ferrari in quegli anni....

  • great footage, awesome pass...

  • 94 Australia Alesi did the same double tow trick but had to split the cars he passed down the middle. what a lovely move and how nice is the backfire from the Ferrari exhaust when it goes to the schui onboard.

  • cool, can you upload that ? Can't find it on youtube

  • wonderful overtaking!

  • Brilliant overtaking move! Not happening nowadays, sadly.

  • LOL! Isn't that schumacher's Benetton just ahead in only his 3rd GP race??

  • Exactly. He fought with Senna, Mansell and Alesi...

Schumi is the best ever :D

  • Bullshit - Schumi did not mix it with the front runners in 91!

  • @mvsf1 - Write a letter to him, he might let you suck him off.

  • @mvsf1 Hell yes

  • @Monthagny no.

  • The same guy that held senna off for 34 laps at the 90 USGP in a Tyrell before being passed. Alesi was fearless and had amazing timing when passing.

  • jA SCHUMI Deine eier haben geschrien gel??

  • Fantastic onboard, hairy moment near the end there...

  • BALLS.

  • Grandissimo...

  • Alesi's unique style... even at holding his hands on the steering wheel.

  • qui Alesi è stato semplicemente grande... peccato che subì una penalità per jump start.

  • Eat my flames 1:11

  • WOW!!!!AWESOME MOVE!

  • dio che sorpasso!

  • Absolutely GREAT!!!!
