  • so from what I am reading this ride is still in operation? I rode it in 1982 and it was a great ride as all of the jet star rides were. Also there was and extended model at Worlds of Fun too in Kansas City and I rode that one too

  • that ride is relaxing for me cu after you go on the good and fast one you have this one

  • THAT RIDE WAS BEAST DUDE JUST BEAST

  • This was my first Roller coster.

  • Was my 1st roller coaster :D

  • @Smokeyanna1 LOLOL well yeah..compared to Kingda Ka, Blue Fire, T Express and X2. But in 1976 when I rode this one's twin at Marriott's Great America, this, the Turn of the Century (Demon, now) and Tidal Wave were the shit.

  • @chimayai what do you mean by this ones twin? six flags great america used to be marriots great america. they are the same place, but then six flags bought it from marriots and the whizzer, formerly known as "willards whizzer" has stayed in the park ever since!

  • @Goldninjarox224 lol sorry about that. I cant remember where I heard it, but there were supposed to be identical "Whizzers" at Marriott's and at the park in Gurnee, IL. Whether this it true or not, I dunno: never been to the park in Gurnee. WW was a great ride. Sorry if I got my facts confuckticated ;)

  • This is quite a good video. Thank you.

  • This ride can actually be scary from the back seat, thats where its the most intense.

  • oooh i went on this one it's fun as hell!

  • Yeah this is a good ride. It is also the prime example that if a community gets together you can save a coaster from the scrap pile...

  • yup and it's also good for beginners i would say like people who are still afraid to go on the superman or king chaos and whatnot =]

  • @ATLCoasterMan ikr im glad they kept it its soo fun

  • My favorite memory of riding the hay baler. Is when me and a couple of my friends went on it. And the guy running it said to us. If you scream really loud. I'll let you ride on it again without having to go back in line. Of course we screamed till we almost lost our voices, lol.

  • If your kid wants to enjoy their first roller coaster experience. This is definitely the coaster to take them on. It's a fun roller coaster without the major drops and loops. Another one of my favorite rides is the Hay Baler ... I wonder if they still have that ride there. I haven't been to the Great America in Gurnee, Ill in a long time.

  • I was there last year and they still had it.

  • nO THEY DONT. aLOT OF OL RIDES i CAN REMEMBER ARE NOT THERE ANYMORE. sKYWHIRL , hAYBALER, pOWER dIVE, sHOCKWAVE, rOLLING tHUNDER, cAJUN cLIFFHANGER ARE ALL GONE

  • It was my first REAL coaster ride and no, hay baler is gone

  • @coastersrus same it was my first

  • is it just me or do the cars look very similar to the cars in Space mountain in disney world?

  • omg i luv this ride i rode it like 20 times!!!

  • Funnest coaster I have ever been on.

    I loved it.

Very scenic and relaxing. Hit the trees twice :D

  • No, it was incredibly fun ^_^

    It didn't hurt

  • No its not the ride... Tree's grow ya know :-p

In fact getting so close to the ground and the trees is so fun... It's the opposite of bad design!

  • @xtremespeed128 Think about what you said when you posted this comment. This coaster was built in 1976 and those trees were much smaller then. There also is a minimum clearance the must have in order to opperate so the chances of anny coaster hitting anything are pretty much not existant.

  • My first time at Six flags , i went on this as my first ride XD i ended up going on it 6 times.

  • Anton Schwarzkopf R.I.P

  • No you diint! You diint fall off

  • Your a fucking idiot.

  • yep...and your now dead and are posting from the afterlife

  • Comment removed

  • i love whizzer!!! it used to be the first ride i would go on to start my 6flags year!

  • there were only a handful of these coasters ever built...they were called speed racers, the large version of the "jumbo jet"....a lot of fun for back in the day, probably lame by today's standards. the first was big bend at six flags over texas and then the perfect zambezi zinger at worlds of fun. big bend is no more but the zinger was moved to s. america. then the 2 marriott's great america parks had one. thankfully, six flags keeps the illinois schwarzkopf going! last one left in the US

  • Anton Schwarzkopf was the king of coasters. Its good to see that to this day so many people are still enjoying his rides, and rate them so highly. God Bless the king of coasters !!

  • Why not Intamin or B&M? They make AWESOME rides!

  • Schwartzkopfs have a classic "feel" to them

  • I suppose, in 20 years, Intamin Megacoasters & B&M Flyers will be classics. Styles change.

  • nah b&m are gonna be classics but they really just started making intamin coasters so they're not that new

  • GREAT VIDEO! I'm so in love with this ride. Everything about it is just so perfect and classic, from the hum of the motors on th elift to the rhythmic thump of the wheels on the track and the rattling cat walks, the track winding through the trees. It's just so awesome! I'm so glad they saved this coaster. I had wanted to ride it for many many years and when they considered removing it I was so sad. I finally got to ride it in 2006.

  • i went there because my band had to march "WJH" and i brought a hat with my 100 dollars and lost it on this ride

  • Awesome ride. I went on it last summer. It was fun.

  • Thanks for the story, and the history of this coaster. When I went there, I really enjoyed this ride. It would of been bad if they demolished such a ride!!

  • Paramount ruined the CA. Grea America. They did fine until the late 90's then the park started going down hill. It depresses me to even go anymore

  • hahaha, me and my friend went on it and when we went down the first hill she was like

    "AHHHHHHHHohh"

  • I remember part of the breaking system was an array of tires; could not have been more than 6 and they were not even that big.

Did they have a clamp mechanism to do the final stop (after the tire slow down)?

  • It's a classic ride but still up and doing as the most popular ride at the park. I love the first part of the ride as going through the woods. It looks like we're almost going to scrape it with our hands up.

  • I remember when I was pretty young I thought that this ride was really scary. Now I love riding on the huge rides like Vertical Velocity and Raging Bull. But Whizzer will always be one of my favorites.

  • This ride was great for couples. You could let your lady sit between your legs and hold her and.......well,you know!!!

  • they got rid of it..Im going there next week and wanted to ride it

  • nooo...

  • Wow...Willard's Whizzer. That takes me way back when I used to live in the SF Bay Area and we would get season passes to Marriot's Great America every year. We rode this all the time. That was way back when The Demon was called The Turn Of The Century before they put the loops in.

  • Gosh, this takes me back a long time - 25 years ago when I used to ride this 30+ times a day with a season ticket and loved the backseat, which is why I love this clip. If I move back to America, I'll have to try this if I travel near Chicago.

  • Going to Six Flags tommorrow, first ride I'll be going on is this!

  • Yeah thats weird. I've never gotten stuck on the wizzer before. Great America is a great park but it's nothing compaired to Kings Island.

  • They didn't get rid of this ride. It's still at Six Flags Great America. I would know, cause' I always go there, every single year. :-) Yep. It's still here, and most likely, always will be there. But it does get stuck sometimes. Never when I go on it though :-D

  • nope :P it's still here :P i take that this video was taken in Wisconsin :P i was there on a recognition day today :P went on this ride 5 times :D

  • So you went to Six Flags Great America (in Illinois, not Wisconsin), or to some other park? :P :D :P :D I think you're confused. :x :D :() :y

  • Great America in Santa Clara, CA (now owned by Cedar Fair) got rid of their Whizzer in 1988. I wish I got a chance to ride it when it was still there.

  • aww. i love this ride! but they got rid of it. =[

  • i think your thinking of a different ride..i go to six flags great america all the time in IL ...and thats were this is..i went yesterday ..i have a season pass.

  • didnt this used to be called super big gulp
