I am beginning my study of Bel Canto with Professor Marilyn Cronin. I have taught the Bible and Martial Arts for many years. One thin I know is that you can practice what you learn on your own time. BUT you do not have your teacher's time 24/7... take advantage of what your Maestro/a share with you. Their encouragement and their "pruning" will pay off if they believe in you, you will believe in yourself.

I agree with bodiloto, this guy can't shut up about his opinions. I hate teachers who feel that this is worth anyone's time and money. These kind of people feel they need to feed you rhetoric about the world they have yet to resolve in their own minds.

Mi ricordo 50 anni fa gli alievi cantavano e i professori di canto ascoltavano...e poi per me questo professore di canto produce un suono come un dilettante.far girare la voce ?mezza voce ?creare la belleza di voce ?creare la dolcezza del suono ?ma andiamo ragazzi lo so che in Italia i giovani sono generosi,ma c'é limite.coraggio ragazzi,coraggio...

@abracadabranque Quando un professore di canto produce suoni in modo in quale lo fa il maestro Cananá si sente la confusione,perche?Il professore parla troppo,e quando canta é stonato e la posizione della sua voce non e quella dei professori che ho conosciuto 50 anni fa.Non lascia i giovani di cantare,perche pagano questo maestro?Per ascoltare come parla durante tutta la lezione?Una voce si crea cantando,non parlando.E per dirla tutta il maestro Cananá non conosce la tecnica della mezzavoce.

Yeah, yeah he's got a great voice! But, what about the student? I haven't heard anything come outta his mouth! Why? Because the teacher is so full of himself! He's showin' off big time. That student's mind is just wandering! He's thinking, when the hell am I gonna get to do even just a little of this kind of singing? Never, if this guy doesn't shut up. Talks & talks...teach already for christ sake! The student is bored outta his mind. Let him sing quit lecturing. There goes his money!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes. 5 minutes of speech is short.

Besides, the students can enjoy some seconds of live singing you can never get when you buy tickets to the opera.

This clip, I belive, is only a portion of the lesson. There are other portions in which the student sings, and the teacher corrects, who knows?
