After my first semester, I'm glad to be here, I really really am. And as someone mentioned, it's about where you feel most comfortable. I got into Berkeley, the #1 ranked Civil Engineering school in the country, but when I visited, I hated it. I knew that USC was the only place for me.
It's amazing to me how many assholes assume USC is full of classes like Basket Weaving 101 when our academics trump their own according to totally neutral, objective evaluations.
USC is one of the premier research institutions in the country. The school also enjoys great support from their alums. USC has the third largest billionaire alums in the country after Harvard and Stanford - according to Forbes. People in this country just resent the financially successful, thus institutions like
Stanford, Duke, USC, or the Ivies are hated because of their wealth. You know what though, no one has to apology for their success.
I hear they are a great school for housewives everywhere. I was reading in a magazine they show you the correct way to iron clothes, clean dishes, and garden. Is this true?
Nope. I'm sure there's some forum for mommy issues where you could vent your frustrations to like-minded basement dwellers. A simple google search could probably point you in the right direction :) You'd probably be right at home at 4chan too. You're welcome!
It's amazing and insufferably rude when graduates of schools without academic distinction mock USC. Trojan pride is pride of achievement, not arrogance born of avarice. It isn't possible to buy a Rhodes Scholarship,a Fullbright,a Phi Beta Kappa key,or any of the other rewards for academic accomplishments.
I think Im going to make something like this for my own in state rivalry school.... MSU and U of M... "I, I hate U of Mmmmm, but I love Michigan State, I love michigan State!!" lmao
I got a dual degree from USC and I can't even describe how amazing this school is. They truly care about the students and do everything within their power to make college a positive experience. I'm at a top law school now, and I know I owe my success to USC. The Trojan Family is amazing.
I would say you owe that success to havin' rich parents who are willing to drop 40k a year on you. I don't know your background but I'm assuming that if you had the academic chops to get a full ride at USC that, well, you wouldn't be at USC.
Also, last time I checked, UT was ranked 52 in USNWR rankings. USC was 26. Let me know if y'all climbed over 20 spots overnight. So lecture me some more about academic chops, buddy.
It depends on what you kind of ride you get. USC is better than other colleges in many ways. UCLA is in general, superior academically, but in the film inustry they don't even compare. It isn't all about the best education you can get either. It is also about where you feel comfortable.
UCLA has better medical research and USC in film industry, everything else is pretty much even. I think that USC curriculum is more innovative than UCLA. I would also pick USC over UCLA because of smaller class sizes. In fact, I can see them surpassing UCLA in the next decade because USC is making great stride in medical research and their engineer school is getting better. If the school continue to raise funding and continue to improve, eventually it will surpass UCLA.
You're clueless about what it takes to get into USC these days. USC has higher average test scores for incoming freshman than UCLA or Cal. Their test scores for admits are substantially higher than UT. And their acceptance rate for this year's class was insanely tough. Currently USC ranks 1 point behind UCLA in U.S. News and World Report's top universities. If USC doesn't pass UCLA this year, they most certainly will in 2011, when this year's freshmen stats count..
@IntenseRepo1984 ----i'm from texas and got a full academic ride to usc. i just finished my freshman year there and wouldn't trade it for the world. usc is the greatest school in the country.
@flyaway6009 Absolutely true. As a SC Alum, the time there is still cherished and you will be proud of your education which is difficult to beat anywhere in the country. It has served me well. Good Luck to you.

@acotw67 You should go to some of the SEC sites where they are ripping USC for instance. As an SC alum, these pukes suck!!!

Actually both my parents are deceased, but I hope the stereotyping works out for you!
Over 60% of USC students receive financial aid.
My late mother went to UT, though (plan 2), so I'm a fan of the Longhorns. I was born in, and currently live in, Texas.
You kind of suck, though.

I agree with your reasoning, especially considering Cali's budget issues. They had better legalize ganj, for the UC system's sake.
paigecpony 2 years ago
USNWR sees USC as practically on par with UCLA academically. I doubt the neck-and-neck ranking is due to USC's film school alone.
