  • I have similar amputation, where was this done???

  • If anyone has any question regarding symes amputation or any type of foot/leg amputation, please email me at kason42@Live.com as I don't check youtube as often as I should. If anyone wants to talk on the phone just email me letting me know and I'll provide my number.

I'm 25, lost my right foot in an accident 2 years ago, symes amputaion. Life is back to normal, and just as good.

  • Hello,

would you please let me know the benifits of Symes vs Below the Knee? Thanks for the video.

  • wow. I am a recent Syme's amputee. A drunk driver hit me in August and I've been trying to find a video online to see how I will be able to walk when I am able to walk again. Its been 2 months for me and I am still in a wheelchair. My left leg is where the amputation was done and my right ankle is fractured. Can you tell me how long it took you to walk on your heel? when did they give you the green light to weight bear? Thank you.

  • @SmiLEyXIng610x what happend to the drunk driver? how many years?

  • @SmiLEyXIng610x

They tried to get me to bear weight after I think 6 months but it hurt. Some people with symes can't some people can. Either way though, just be patient...life will be back to normal 100 percent within a year if you keep your head up through the initial months of prosthesis fittings and therapy...eventually it all gets normal again and life gets normal again.

  • I havent shown her this yet i have been telling her about this vid big time everytime she gets low thinks she is gonna be in a wheelchair i tell her about it, and your achievements i will be telling her about the paralympics crikey thats amazing its a honour I am her cheerleader becauses i know she is so strong and can get throught this, it will take a while but i will be there cheering her on. Thanks again this shows what can be achieved good luck with everything

  • @tallyboo9

Tell her to keep her head up, I'm young and 2 years ago I had it done. Life is great again even though I thought it never would be. If she wants to talk to someone who's gone through the same thing email me at kason42@live.com and I'll give you my number.

  • my best friend has just had a amputation, i am showing her this for insperation courage and to show her what can be. Thank you for putting it on line. She is 1 week into loosing everything but her heel, she is scared sometimes determined highs and lows i worry for her mental state, any advise, she says she wished she had died

  • @tallyboou9 hey. I've been through the exact same thing. I wanted my life to end because it is a big change. You should tell your friend that she should talk to a therapist after her amputaion. It helped me a lot, and helped me move on. Although I still had my ups and downs, 6 mo. later I fell great! I love my life so much and I have been approched to join the paralympics. I have alo met so many inspiring people. Tell her not to give up on life and herself. You are a great friend and good luck!

  • His natural foot on the left is so beautiful too!!! Beautiful young man!!! Beautiful spirit!!!

  • What type of amputation is this? How is he walking on it even before his prosthetic foot is on? Isn't it really hard to walk without a flat body part? Did they amputate right above the ankle or where was the actual cut?

  • @wallyruland The amputation is called either a Syme's or Pyrogof. When the heel bone (calcaneous) is left in, the proper name for the amputation is Pyrogof, the proper name for without the calcaneous is Syme's.

The foot is removed at (through) the ankle joint.

Either of these amputations is considered to be about 5% disabling.

It would be not much more difficult to walk on this type of amputation than it would if your foot was injured and you were to walk on your heel.

  • thanks for sharing

  • i have the same amputation but smaller people ask me why at school and i tell them my little brother acidentally drove over my foot my mom not knowing until he honked the horn at me and yelled, "why are you screaming i'm the driver shutup!!!"

  • Comment removed

  • I have the same amputation. I tripped and my foot was cushed by a train. The doctors opted to go with the symes rather than the below the knee... i guess because you can walk on it. Its been almost a year and a half and it still hurts to walk without the prsthetic. I am plenty mobile, run walk etc etc with my prosthetic, however, I still wish they had just gone below the knee

  • @Kason42 Hi can I ask why you wish they had gone just below the knee?

  • @fallenangel3001

Sorry for the prolonged response. I wish I had just gone below the knee because below the knee offers many more options when it comes to prosthesis. Some people, like myself, will never walk on the symes anyway. It hurts because the doctor must not have gotten a couple nerves out. Anyway...my accident was two years ago and life is back to normal...99 percent of days I completely forget that I dont have a foot. Symes is not bad, but like I said BTK offers more prsthesis wise.

  • and dude never walk with one fucking leg- calves get way to tight causing you your ridiculous over pronation- dont know why the fuck they getting you to walk like a fucking idiot

  • His left foot is fucked though lol- he's got loads of overpronation due to being one footed lol . i have pretty much same severity of problem caused by something else though. It's a right bitch and bloody panfull as fuckkkkk- he probably wants to get his left foot amputated know doubt.....

  • this vidio is so sad ive seen one on a mom with only 1 toe all together out of ten her right big toe

  • great video... actually I would have opted for a mid calf amp.. to make me more mobile, and get rid of the unsightly ankle bulge

  • great video, but if it were me I wuld have requested a mid calf amp makes you more mobile and not so awkward looking either...

  • I looked at this video because of curiosity.

I have a phobia of amputation it scares me so bad!

  • Way to go! The appliance looks great, and I'm sure it shields and protects the leg. At first I thought it was a transmetatarsal amputation until I looked more closely and discovered it was a full foot amputation.

  • dude whats it loike does it feel akward? when i saw u walk up those stairs i had a tingle in my spine

  • How did he lose the front of his foot

  • Usually these amputations are done due to disease (most commonly diabetes or gangrene), or injury (mostly crushing, projectile, or partial severance).

  • just cool fine stump!! you have dont need a prosthesis!

  • they put it in cat food, it looks a bit of a mess but i shouldnt hurt to walk on they use the heel pad and it can take weight no problem,i have a fourfoot amputation and cant walk as good as him, so iam also going for the symes

  • I'm without words...Astonishing.

  • It's amazing how well you walk without your prosthetic foot. Can you walk far without it? How did you lose your foot?

  • What happened to the amputated foot?

  • Most likely the surgeon placed it in a "biohazard" bag and from there it went to a medical waste disposal company. Once there, the usual disposal is by incineration (burning).

  • I love your amputation. How can I get one?

  • There are several ways to acquire a Pyrogof or Syme (ankle disarticulation) amputation. Most of them involve a lot of pain!

  • when you were walking, I was saying "ouch...ouch...ouch..." GOOD LUCK with the foot, man
