i grew up there - 10 when plane crashed - now live in uptown new orleans - lots of archit, an olmstead pk, AND a major college (tulane) ....prob better food too
What a pleasure to look upon these historic brownstones, What a nightmare to try to ever live there. I grew up in Park Slope and understand how people who come from occupied countires feel about their homeland. It will soon be too expensive for you as well, and you'll understand one day also how we feel.
@Youbian I love this comment. If you've ever heard a recording of your own voice then you know how strange it is to hear yourself. Naughty Brooklyn is not what I was expecting! ROTFLMAO!
@robshaps You are so right. I don't eat pizza here. Never tried Joe's but if you think it's that great I'll go over and check it out. It IS only a few blocks away and there is no wall between us. The natives here roam freely from zone to zone.
Great video. I love park slope. I bought a brownstone in the area 16 years ago...when it was still cheap. The place is amazing and so beautiful. You never run out of things to see or do. Additionaly you have one of the highest "young people" population in the area (20-35) and many are raising their kids in park slope. it also has THE best public school in brooklyn
Yeah, PS 321, where your kids can learn how to count to 10 in Swahili and be told how 'gifted' and special they are all day. Give me a break.
For all its "young people," Park Slope also has a stark and visible absence of elderly residents, since most of them have been priced out/evicted to make way for more hipster yuppie transplants from the suburbs. That's not much of a 'community' if you ask me.
yeah I walked on 7th Ave. Man who needs the mall when you have an endless shopping street. I mean its so long. It seems to be every borough in New York has these so long commerial streets. When I visited Los ANgeles there were none.
Yeah, "who needs the mall" when you've got an entire avenue full of useless overpriced specialty shops and overpriced groceries tailored to out-of-town hipster yuppies. If you ever need a pair of hiking sandals or some organic kale or $12 bread, you can just walk along 7th Ave!
Thank you for this delightful little film about Park Slope. I'm a Brit but my daughter has lived there for almost 5 years and I look on it almost as a second home, an absolute pleasure to visit.
They're not tearing them down in this neighborhood, but our fellow Brooklynites around the Atlantic Yards are facing developers that are going to tear down lovely historic brownstones. Here many blocks have been historically preserved - thank goodness!
You shouldn't miss it. The neighborhood has changed light years from what it was even ten years ago. It has become a hipster yuppie caricature. You are better off staying away.

@robshaps Ha ha- you're stuck with Smiley's on 9th Street. Windsor Terrace still has Joe's.

@angelcarnivore Joe's in Windsor is much better than the Park Slop Joe's. Park SLOP needs pizza.

Not included, but certainly not forgotten... the library should get it's very own profile! I'd also love to do a piece just on Prospect Park!
