  • Get the beer bottles flyin' with this one!

  • You beginners make sure you try a Yamaha Pacifica 112VC(X). I have one with an ebony fretboard, and when I tried other guitars (around 800-1000 bucks) that Yamaha could really stand its ground tonewise. Of course the playability of the other guitars were better. But for the price of the Yamaha, you really get more than you pay for!

I want that SG with P90s btw. P90s FTW. Oh and HSS Strats FTW!!!

    \m/(o.o)\m/

  • Count how many times he said HUMBUCKER!

  • lots of luv...

  • so basicly your leaving out all the best guitars

  • i have a yamaha rgx121s i guess its a strat copy made in 2000 it has two Humbuckers with a single coil in the center position mint in box missing the tremolo bar $75.00 iam new to playing so it was the right price

  • Thanks for spending some time on this issue. I am saving up for a better guitar ( well, another. I have three six strings now & a bass ) but was not as clear as I am now on some of these differences. I have a question though, are all dual coil pick-ups Humbuckers or am I still confused on that detail ? Thanks again !

  • Buy a strat, a boss super overdrive and a Marshall amp, and you son, will be well sorted!

  • 10:13 haha watch for jovi comi'n at cha!!

  • im only 12 years old and i got 17 guitars

  • 4 peoples dont know how to pick a guitar

  • :D

  • epic moustache

  • im building my own thinline right now and i couldnt decide whether i should get EMG single coil or golden age. which ones do you say? or any other brands of single coil. i love to play more rock tones with it.

  • What distortion u using, love it

  • Dunno what amp u use but that strat roars, amazing tone

  • MUSTACHE FTW!

  • why would nash put a fender decal on a nash guitar? lol wtf

  • nice sg

  • Do you have a Fender neck on the Nash strat?

  • what do you want?

  • I have your hair.

  • Jimmy Page did all the electric guitar parts to Led Zeppelin I with a telecaster, as well as various songs throughout his career including Stairway To Heaven.

  • @brandonlace Ten Years Gone is another Telecaster song he did too.

  • any guitar... guitar guitar

  • I thought that you made a tutorial on how to PICK a guitar (-string).. I was like; *facepalm*

  • Do you think there is an electric that is particularly good for slide? I see a lot of slide players playing the Gibson SG.

  • @zazen108 There isnt really a guitar specified for it but an older telecaster, an SG or a travis bean (Beans are more of a country sound though, so you have to really push the distortion)

  • Guys, what do you think about Washburn x50 Pro with Seymour Duncans + Fender Mustang II?

  • No IJJJJJ HAAAA this time?

  • Wish this video was around like say....about....15 years ago. Would have saved me some hassle, and I would have skipped right to playing Teles. He he.

  • Comment removed

  • What guitar do you use?

  • @MrSanitsuj Telecaster :)

  • i can't believe you didnt show a Les Paul

  • What song is that on 6:30 ??

  • @JamesIndieify

jimi hendrix - the wind cries mary

  • Hi Earl !

  • Is that Ben Stiller with a Tele?

  • Quote "If you're doing sessions, get all the types of guitar"

To be honest, if you're of the standard of playing to be doing sessions, you shouldn't need any help with what guitar to choose :-)

  • the way he says "yeah" was lame and fake

  • it would be awesome if you taught nobody's fault but mine by led zeppelin

  • You could hace said something about neck profiles and maybe frets..

At least mention necks. If you got 10 thumbs or really short fingers, maybe you wouldnt go for the thick neck as your first guitar?

  • I`m sure that Telecaster has some good stories to tell....

  • Awesomeness.

  • 335 barely gets mentioned? same with the les paul? no talk about different types of bridges or tuners. no explanation what so ever on what makes a good guitar or how to choose one. no mention of what pitfalls to look out for. this video is crap for someone who wants to know how to pick an electric guitar. why not rename it "guitars i like"? cause that's what this video really is. bait and switch for guitar jams, just like the blues master class which claims 31 discs but doubles 12 of them.

  • @cheezyridr yeah wtf the es 335 is like one of the most pop guitars?!

  • i have a nash strat w/ lollars and it is the tits but teles are where it's at

  • I have a strat blacktop (2 hbs) in pos 2 and 4 you get a single coil from each hbs. Almost the best of both worlds.

  • Fender always, every time, and forever

  • Fender all the way fools.

  • yeahhhh

  • hot rails are awesome!!

  • @rampage222555 I can do the harmonics fine but the squeals just won't come out the way I want them to. They're really weak

  • nonSteel if your going to buy a fender strat buy a U.S. one the may be more expensive but there better quality. and you get an amazing sound out of them. I dont think a mexican fender strat is worth $800, probably closer to $250 depending on how old it is, and the quality

  • @reyrey9700

so a 700 dollar mexican made 50s classic strat is bad? I like good quality stuff, so should i have spent 700 dollars on a different american made brand?

  • @nonSteel Hi man, i have the stratocaster classic 50 mexico and american vintage 57 stratocaster. for me, the stratocaster classic 50 are a very nice instrument, quality price BEST!!! buy an classic 50 mexico, and believe in me! ;) have a good day!

  • is it bad to buy an 800 dollar mexican fender strats???

  • @nonSteel look i've been searching for info online, the stratocaster deluxe player, the one that comes in sapphire blue that it's around 849-899 u$s has very VERY good reviews.

Check that one out in some store and compare it with one more expensive.

it seems the mexicans got it right with this guitar

    hope it helps you

  • the way you say "yeah" kills me

    LOL

  • he looks like Ted Mosby from How I met your mother

  • well done

  • have you ur self put the humbucker into your strat

  • Yah ! Fender

  • HSS strat ftw

  • This advices come from the influences. Stache is more a classic rock, punk rock, metal man. A Strat is his main choice for all the types. He talks about the clear notes on the telecaster too. And we can understand his Fender-type choices, he is not very much for Gibson. Why didn't he add the Les Paul to the set?

  • which pedal are you using here?

  • And if you want blues?

  • You just grab a guitar by the neck with your hand - and that's the way to pick it! :P

  • Or you can be reaaally stubborn, go in against everybody's advise, and buy a Jaguar, and then you should look at the looks on their faces when you get a better tone out of it than they get out of their fancy SG's, Strats and whatnot.. :D

  • That is a replacement wraparound bridge on the SG? Tone pro? Also love that Tele. I have a Baja Tele with a maple neck but I think I prefer rosewood. I have been playing two rosewood board guitars and finding the maple neck a little odd to play now.

  • Lol. The divied by 13 amps sound kinda of muddy.

  • Yeeeah u and a Gibson awesome.

  • the song he was playing at 10:13 was dead or alive bon jovi

  • gibson and fender all the way :)

  • YYAAAAAAAAAAAIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

  • How did u do the squeal on the strat? I've been trying to do that for months....

  • @GunDrful Try a bend on the 3rd fret of the G string, but when you pick, try to brush the string with your thumb just after the pick leaves the string. Experiment where you pluck the string, it works best in certain places. Keep trying and you'll get it. Also, it helps to have a cranked tube amplifier, not a quiet bedroom solid state amp.

  • @GunDrful Essential, you want to stop the string from vibrating completely, or "pinching" the vibration of the string.

  • @GunDrful good amount of gain or distortion. humbuckers help a ton. And knowing how to make a pinch harmonic(which often takes weeks to learn). you can get it with a clean tone too, but wont sound as squealie as with gain. learning how to squeal takes lots of practice, but when you learn it you get it effortlessly.

  • Question. I like to play blues-y kind of guitar, what would be the best for that?

  • @snapskityy definitely the strat.

  • what about the les paul?

  • @delcshimo it uses the same humbucker pickups as an SG, but the les paul is denser, so the sound is more bluesy, and has more sustain.

  • @ironhagoo kk thanks

  • what's the song at 10:13

  • @160895andy Bon Jovi- Wanted Dead or Alive.

  • @160895andy

wanted dead or alive, JBJovi supper easy and was done on a 12 string in real life... I think!!!!

  • This was a really awesome video. You should totally do more videos like these! Not reviews, but guitar anatomy, like this video.

  • im am begging sososososososo bad right now please make a video on pinch harmonics

  • I have a Mexican Tele. I love it. I also have a Kramer XL-1 with a humbucker pup. Really like em.

  • All of those guitars are great and cool!

  • PRS is my personal favorite brand.

  • ESP!!!!!

  • This is like saying : " How to pick a pair of shoes"

  • papa stache, comin at ya!

  • i really dig these run downs. keep doing these!

  • I love PRS!!

  • Thanks for all this good info.

  • FENDER!

  • My first full size guitar was a Squier Stratocaster. $230 for one hell of an instrument. I still have it, too. Perfect guitar for almost anything (Couldn't get the heaviest of heavy tones out of it) and even better once I dropped Lace pickups in it.

Next I'm going after a Fernandes Retrorocket Pro. Strat style HSS setup. Probably better than any Fender or Gibson on the market.

Anyway. If you've got the cash, go for an HSS Fender Strat. If not, go for a Squier variant of the same guitar.

  • @92796Apollo Any Fender or Gibson? That's kinda epic

  • @TimBirkenholz It's slightly exaggerated, really. The Fender Deluxe Stratocaster is right on par with the 'Retrorocket.

  • @92796Apollo I have the Squier HSS Strat and it does sound good. Only problem with the Fender/Squiers that I see is that the neck is so narrow I have a harder time adjusting if I'm playing my accoustic with a bit wider neck then switch to my electric. But that's my problem and it's still all good!

  • Les Paul man...

  • Bon Jovi snippet, fuck yeah!

  • At the end of the day, you can play anything you want with any guitar.

I really think you should have included a les paul, because the LP doesn't sound like an SG.

Also one more thing, SGs are fairly lighter than the fenders, that meens you can not really have that top pickup Strat/Tele sound.

Great video, I am waiting for the next one! :D

  • Wrong. Schecters have a better sound (in my opinion) and are waaay cheaper

  • @papastache102 thanks for kickin the knowledge. I love that Gibson with the p90s!

  • great collection. ..they match the player perfectly..

  • To the students of the guitar - Get a guitar that stays in tune!!!! ..and have it in tune when you play.

  • If you get a Gibson Sg do not get the one he has, trust me.

  • Great instruments here. But god are those colors ugly

  • WOW! He played the intro to Wanted Dead and Alive - Bon Jovi on the Gibson :D

  • @0benjamin0korsgaard0 Dead OR alive, lol

  • I've got washburn \m/

  • Haha i was like how long will it take to get him picking

  • like if u thought this video was gonna be about how to literally pick a guitarr

  • lol... a strat, a tele and a... * awkward silence* GIBSON!!!

you should of had a Les Paul... but a SG is still a Gibson... still AWE-mazing-SOME!

  • i have always just liked the shape and feel of a tele. I routed mine for humbuckers to get more of a rock tonee

  • Liked this before even watching...I knew it was going to be a good video. Props to the stache.

  • I figured I'd have need all 3

  • How about a video on how to change the pickups. That would be really helpful :)

  • You used an SG and not a les paul? I would have thought the Les Paul would be there with the tele and strat.

  • I think it's important to know that a lot of the differences are very subtle, and beginners (like me) probably won't be able to tell the difference hehehe

  • Thanks bro this really does help no kidding.

  • Excellent

  • I'm looking forward to the video on amps, and I was wondering if in that video you could go over tube amp maintenance. I've owned one for about 4 months now, and it would be nice to hear tips on this subject from a guitarist whose as experienced as you obviously are.

  • jammin!!! i need to learn more stuff

  • Telecaster FTW The SG is also great but I love Telecaster's clarity!!

  • man, that's some rustic casters.) they've seen a lot of sweat in their time.)

also, I've been looking for an SG for some time, and I'm thinking about buying me the Epiphone one. is it as good as people say?

  • worn strats are sexy as hell

  • YOU are cool

  • first notes sound like slow ride

  • I am starting to think you are better then marty

  • Getting A Mason MB-1... kaoss pad and all.. cant wait

  • Where i can get that teleceaster? =)) It´s totally awesome!!!!

  • do you have an opinion on the noiseless pickups that are in the strat deluxe? i was at the store and couldnt decide between the standard and the deluxe twice..

think i like the standards hum, but hate its edge at the higher frets..so maybe a deluxe with other pickups

    ...life is hard!

  • @Snakbratsch its harder if you like all the guitars and just cant aford one xD

  • @joaodrt3 i like them all too, but oyu have to start with one.. i want a strat first..

but if youre low budget i suggest you the epiphone sg 400, i might get one too, its the best low budget guitar that i have ever played(you need to adjust the strings so they are closer to the neck, but then its really good!) - its only 260€ in germany, think about that one

  • looking for a schecter myself

  • Yeeaahh freakin love it man

  • I have a strat and a LP and I like bot for different reasons, LP is great for some hardcore rock, but If i'm feeling bluesy I'll so strat

  • The only thing I like better about the SGs is the double cutaway. But the LP just looks so much better so .... Les Paul all the way, baby!

  • now i only need the money! thanks man

  • I could listen you playing all day long..

  • lol... I misread at first. At quick glance, I thought it said, "How to pick up a guitar".

  • Stop spamming the video comments and get a life. A great video as always Brett. I´m looking for a new electric guitar myself, but haven´t decided yet. Thanks for the tips.

  • Gibson all the way :)

  • @6Mephisto666 hell yeah ;D

  • @6Mephisto666 Fender all the way

  • @6Mephisto666 Gibsons are awesome ... but it cant replace the sound of a tele or strat , id say get all 3 ...

  • 9th

  • Is the price difference btween fender and prs purely down to cosmetics or is the prs range better sounding?...nice vid btw

  • Omega Supreme

  • "blahblahblah" ^^
