Yeah thats prolly my ole manns SAAB TURBO(big thing back in the 80's/90's), bout tear up the east side hwy on the way to Crown Heights/BedSty!!! lol RIP POP's
musics got a good underground sound that i imagine was on pirate radio back in the day. great video. sometimes its hard to realise life was going on before you were born, and itll sure as hell go on after youre dead
@Allenryan819 You lucky 90's kid.... I lived the very late 90's and the early 2000's, maybe to the 2005, and when I was watching Finnish sketch shows first season, made in 1991-1993 I started realizing something is different.
This makes me feel somehow so strange. It looks like captured from a good mobile phone camera but it's in the 80's. It was just filming around, just like now, they had no idea what the world is like in the 2000's. It feels so like these days. There isn't any 80's Clichés, like in movies example. It's a strange feeling indeed, I can't really describe it. It's somehow so "close", but it's still far away in the 80's. Somehow so real, unlike those movies.
@goldbullet50 To many ppl take movies for real the 70s and 80s are just like to day just not as many things as we have today. the 80s still had a lot cell phone's the first HD t.v's good video games and before the internet in 1991 in the 80s you had online it was not know well and it was a payed thing. Plus saying o the 60s were all hippys is worng thats like saying o in 2000s we were all goth or some crap. Thats why I kind of hate movies lol
@DNVRecorDs Or some areas of the Netherlands during the 1980s (particularly parts of The Hague or Rotterdam during those days). But this looks far worse though. New York during it's absolute lowpoint.
I see this video was recorded in 1987. So were you using a film camera or a video camera? Video cameras back in those days were huge - you had to carry then on your shoulder while shooting and eventually your shoulder got tired. They were also very expensive, not to mention the quality was poor by today's standards.
I made just made the music from samples ,,at the time they were taking my videos down whenever i used any popular music, so i made a few of my own..most people hate it. hahaha
@slotjaw I think I regnognize the sound from the 80's and have been trying to find it but if you made it, I think it's great. Video too by the way. Thanks!

Wow...I wish I was born in the 60s or 70s so I could enjoy the good old 80s in Brooklyn and basically everything. It was all so good back then. Better cars, music, culture and everything basically. Shit only if I could go back in time. I was born in 95 so uh you know I missed out on that bitch. Now we got shit hip pop and crap music, we need the real hip hop shit back.
@KillaSlug: Brooklyn (and most of New York) was a dump back in the 70s and 80s. Major urban blight and few jobs, plus high crime rates. Sure the music and cars of the time were cool, but you are looking at history through rose tinted glasses. I suppose you would want to live in Harlem around this time as well?
lol wow that was the ture new york right werre my moms first came in this country it was very tuff to survive in new york on that time they was mafia and gangster and killers ..
@badgerbuddy Yea, the engines were easy to work on and they generally had good construction, now everythings easy to crack or dent with 200 airbags and crud you don't need.
Not to mention a good deal of todays economy cars like the XB and Soul don't even get 30 on the highway, my $900 gets that and it has a bigger engine!
@badgerbuddy If you ask me Chrysler was building stuff so good that they intentionally decreased the reliability in their cars, trickier to make money off cars that don't break and that can be fixed at home.
@Ryoku75 yes thats true... not only with chrysler, but with any modern day manufacturer. the truth is, cars like mine and yours, if they are cared for correctly, they will most likely outlive any car produced today. its because cars have become so dependent on computers, and so cheaply produced, which means that when todays cars become old, and their computers start breaking down, their systems will be very obsolete, and nearly impossible to replace. i don't want to live in a world like that.
damn i miss when shit was this bad now we got good kids and stuff i remember when i was living in south bronx at age 8 and i saw the movie wolfen being taken from my building woo shit was bad they only took it in mornings when people were drugged asleep cuz those white foolks woulve been shot trust me i got shot in the hand back in 89 over there then thats when we moved to dykman street in 200 street and drug crime etc was even higher
Awesome. I just wish the video showed some of the buildings along 87 at that time... as that's the time period when a good deal of that area would have been burning.
the quality of this video is amazing.i drive in ny everyday drivers are so selfish in the city especially taxis today.i was wondering how was it about 20 years ago?routes are same buildings also as well except shape of the vehicles.and that time no camera cellphones, no internet but the camcorder has been used for this video is very professional one.thanks for ur time for uploading this video and let us enjoy it.nice job.
