my grandmother and grandaunt are survivors and continue to fight. A day doesn't go by that I don't think of my ex's father who battled cancer and lost. Well wishes to you all.
My aunt is fighting this and she is one of the strongest people I know. I watched her be strong for her husband (my uncle) as dealt with cancer. And he passed , she had just finished another round of chemotherapy. I sat and watched her be strong when she got both of her breast removed which is the part of a woman's body that makes a woman. . I watched her be strong when she went bald from the chemotherapy. And yet still she presses, she still gives God praises everyday. I love her so much.
A Beautiful Dedication, Befitting A Beautiful Woman. I See Now That The Graceful Spirit I See In You, Partly Comes From Your Grandmother... Rejoice In Her Spirit God Bless!
Such a beauty and meaningful poem and written by a person with a beauty heart and spirit. I was a hospice nurse for about 6 years and was able to take care of breast cancer victims and see their fight and now I am seeing my older brother and two of my best friends currently going through radiation and chemo for breast cancer.Everyone needs to know the importance of doing breast exams and mammograms because prevention is the best medicine. This disease knows no age or gender. God Bless u
i kno what you are going through cause i myself lost my grandpa, he died at home on his Favourite chair, this was just a month ago. my love goes out to you, your subscriber from Jamaica.......
It's been 20yrs that my mother had breast cancer. Every 6months my sister and I have our check up @ the hospital. My godmother, my grandmother and a cousin has died from this diese
So poignant and such a beautiful tribute to your loved one. I would have liked to read along with you as I am sure many others would like to also. I found the book at Amazon.com by searching for "Dear September"
in tears I have to commend you for your strength and your courage to keep promoting awareness for breast cancer through the memory of your grandmother as you read the poem I felt as if I had watched her fade I breath poetry because it is understanding I fight for every woman who has no one to fight for them as they struggle w/ breast cancer trying to keep their pink as bright as possible
"Never whisper poetry.....it should be swallowed in ears and carried like the sea."
I too am a poet and I love this segment and idea. I will join you in breast cancer awareness on my channel and recite from my book as well. I've lost many women in my family and some are battling breast cancer now. Anything, we can do to keep a light bright.....or a prayer said, could be the biggest blessing to someone fighting through this stage in their life. God Bless You!
this is so heartfelt jam before you even started to read i teared up, may God's peace and comfort be with you and every family that has had a family member or friend suffer from cancer, stay blessed!!
Every female in my family has died from breast cancer. My mother, grandmothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, all passed from breast cancer. To this day when I shower each morning I am hesitant to touch my breast or under arm for fear of finding a lump. I have witnessed death from cancer far too often.
My prayer to every woman and man is to take Pink Rocktober seriously and support breast cancer awareness in every way you can. This cancer is real and far too many of us forget that.
That was beautiful ... I'm all teary now :( My daughter and I are doing the Susan G. Koman race for the cure Oct 9th. In honor of my Aunt Emma ... that's what I called her all her life ... she made fun of it sometimes ... so hard to accept she's gone.
And THIS is why you are such a special woman Philly. Beyond the makeup and hair reviews, the theatrical presentations and fun you show, you have depth and love that radiates. You are such a special person and just as I know my mother who died of breast cancer is with me everyday, watching over me, guiding me in all I do and say, I feel the same is true for you and your grandmother.
@quietbeauty1 I don't mean to impose but I just felt the necessity to mention that if breast cancer is so prevalent in your family it's imperative that you do self-exams and to be monitored by a physician. The horrible cycle can be broken with you.
@cocoa8872 You're not imposing, I appreciate your comment. I do see my physician on a regular basis. Because I have a ton of health issues, I am at the doctor every two months for a check up anyway. Because of my family history when I have my mammo's it is stressful beyond words. But I thank God each time I receive the all clear notice. :-) For every female in my family that died, it was because it wasnt't caught early enough. I vow to have that trend end with me.
@quietbeauty1 I'm happy to know that you're being checked regularly and I really wish your health improves and that you'll never have to experience what your other family members went through. Be well :).
Wow! I don't know where to start so I'll keep it short. That poem was so powerful! I almost cried (had to keep it together though, I'm at work). Your grandmother was so beautiful. I know it's hard to deal with loss in the physical but don't worry her radiance is alive through you. Much love from NC. Your words are POWERFUL! Keep encouraging us...
My sister lost her battle with breast cancer last year 6/12/10. She was 52 years young. She passed the night of 6/11 but my family also experienced the wait for hospice to come to our home and pronounce her T.O.D. I cried listening to your poem. It reminds me of her. People who have battled cancer or lost a loved one to cancer have a bond that others really can't comprehend. My condolences to you and your family and i look forward to more posts and poems during this month of awareness. God Bless
