  • Thank you David, I had the good fortune to spend some time with Grand Master Huang

  • Great))))))

  • This guy was a former White Crane expert. He learned under Mas Cheng Man Ching for a short while only. His tai chi apparently mixed with white crane.

  • thank you for putting this clip

  • I just posted a rare Huang Sheng Shyan form demo from the 1983 Singapore tai chi expo on my page.

  • Can someone please tell me how old he was when he past away?

  • 1992 when he died? omg he is very good.

  • thank you david

  • English Translation (Humble attempt)

MH(Master Huang):Everything has force center coz they have weight. Only if you are weight-less, can you control others' force center.

RP(reporter):what frame reference do you use to capture others' force center?

  • MH: By relaxation, you have to relax your hands to feel the force. So the important thing is to relax your hand and feel the force. There is the law of equilibrium:

1)moving without losing the center point

2)relaxing without stepping beyond the circle

  • RP:understanding the force center and mastering the art of relaxing is the difficult part of Tai Ji. Because it is very deep and very much dependent of one's understanding, commitment of time, patient and coordination of these elements. The idea can be explained with the Tai Ji circle diagram. The diagram is composed with a circle and two fish (google it if u can't c the fish). One's must picture himself/herself as one of the fish and one's opponent as the other fish.

  • Then try to capture the opponent's force center and feel the magnitude of the opponent's force. Finally use the force of the circle and law of equilibrium to counter the opponent's force.

  • thanks for the translation. !

  • Thank you very much david !!

  • thanks for the translation,

and is a very good teaching!!!

  • It would be wonderful if we could get this subtitled or dubbed in english

  • This man is a legend in the Tai Chi world! Someone Chinese do us a favor and add subtitles please?

  • Who was the master in this clip? I noticed he spoke Mandarine Chinese but with a strong fuchou dialect accent. Where does this master live? Does anyone know him?

  • This is master Huang Sheng Shyan.Master huang past away allready. He born in mainland China,Fukien, practise white grane for many years. When he meet Cheng Man Ching he become his student and learn from him Yang style Tai Ji for 10 years.

  • Huang Sheng Shyan died in 1995 as far as I know, I am a student or his student. He last lived in Malaysia- He had students such as Wee Kee Jing & Patrick Kelly. Pat is in Byron Bay & Kee Jing is in N.Z. There are some good schools of his in Malaysia still!

  • My apologies; He died in 1992-

  • Always a please to see Huang - I think I may have a bit from the rest of this program on video...

  • Great stuff - wish there were subtitles tho -
