  • I commented this so many times before but I have to say it again. How can anyone neglect the inspiring quality of John Denver's music? Since the first time I've heard it, I just cannot stop! :)

  • I find it hard to pick one of John's songs as a favourite, I love them all. He gives peace to an aching heart and joy to the soul. The world would be a far better place if more people were as gentle and loving as he. Heaven has a very special person there, we are lucky we had him for the time we did. I only wish that I had been able to see him live, one wish that was never possible sadly. My life is happier for having his music in it, what a wonderful legacy he has left us.

  • Great song! Then again most of his are. I like the way you said only the one picture to focus on the message........I use his music as my form of meditation......have to have it to get through each day............. He is such a wonderful teacher! May be gone in body, but will NEVER be gone in spirit!!!

  • Damn my generation neeeds more music like this!!!!

  • +1 ... John's music and gentle ways could help us all become people of peace.

  • 17ciderqueen I would love to chat some time. I have only bean a JD fan for 8 years but I think even though I didn't know of him while he was alive I still have wonderful memories of his music and how it has changed my life. I would love to read about some of your memories of his music as well.

  • This is by far my favorite. My farm is named Whisper Wind after I heard this song the first time. Those almost look like rhododendrons on Roan Mountain NC

  • A rare song by John Denver. I saw his winter concert in 1996 and that's where I first heard it.

  • I absolutely love this~! It has been mant years since I have heard it. Thanks SO much for posting this. John was a dear dear friend from long ago and I miss him every day.

  • Always one of my favourite songs. I remember back in Christmas 1991 receiving the album Different Directions as a present. I was 19.

Despite the success of All Aboard this for me was perfect. As always John, thank-you.

  • I saw John sing this in concert one hot day in June. He prefaced it by saying it was kind of a new song, still a work in progress, so please understand if it's not perfect. Well, then he launched into a glorious 10 minute song of perfection that blew everyone away. We were all so emotional standing up clapping and cheering for a long time while he stood there with a mixed look on his face of pride, embarrassment and joy. He looked good in in the black jeans and tee and turquoise belt. too.

  • Hey J. Can you tell me why you chose the photograph for this song? Is it two rose bushes? I love John Denver. He seems to have a huge connection to the wind. One of his favourite songs was "Try to Catch the Wind" yet I don't think he ever recorded it. Do you know? Meccamaz

  • Hey J. This is my first post on You Tube. I am a huge JD Fan. Can you tell me whether that is 2 rose bushes in the photo? What is the background behind the choice? Do you know why one of John's fave songs was "Try and Catch the Wind" by Donovan yet (even though he recorded many covers) he didn't record it?

  • This I adore, when it gets to the "whisper the wind" part I'm solid gone!!

  • what insterment does he play in this song?

  • The liner notes don't state song by song who the musicians are. They're listed at the beginning. John is attributed as "lead vocals, acoustic guitar, mandolin" so figure that he plays the guitar and a little bit of the mandolin.

  • It is also on the Different Directions album.

  • This song can also be found on JDs 3-CD set called, "John Denver in Concert" where JD plays this song with a symphony orchestra which makes it truly amazing. Either way, it's one of my favorite songs and thanks for posting it!

  • You're welcome, and it's one of my favorites as well!

  • I heard him in concert sing this. He introduced it, by discussing the movie and saying the movie was the inspiration for it. It was not in the movie itself.

  • this is great is it from the foxfire movie that he was in?

  • I looked on the internet after uploading this, and no mention that I could find says that the two are related. There's a 4 year gap from the movie to the song. It was on TV way back when, and I saw a portion of it, but don't recall hearing any part of the song. Maybe someone out there knows.

  • thanks 4 looking I am a big fan of his are u a big fan of Henry John Dutchendourf?

  • I sure am, for almost my entire life. I first heard of him in 1970 when he appeared on the Michael Douglas show, and the rest is history.

  • He talks about it on the Harbour Lights CD!

  • Great song selections, Again I will say that the single picture causes the mind to meditate on the message that the music is delivering.

  • Thanks so much. While I think changing images is a great way to present an audio piece, the single image is meditative as you said. It induces a focusing of the message that the song is trying to present.
