@TheGarrettsee Thank you very much. This is the Washburn PS11. It has a SUPER preamp in it and plugged in, sounds every bit as wonderful as my Martin costing 10X as much. I love this axe.
Was just wondering about open tuning. If my song Is in the key of G, which open tuning should I use to get a bluesy slide solo? Not sure which tuning is best. I'm thinking open E, but maybe I'm wrong. Could you help please?
@mikeyrockstar1 The very best tuning is standard tuning. Open tunings are pretty much a waste of time unless you are a dobro or lap steel player. So, no matter what you've heard from anybody (famous or not), open tunings are not really a useful thing. You can get 99% of the open tuning licks from standard tuning if you know how to do it. I have lesson videos that make tuning your guitar differently obsolete. Find me at groovymusiclessons dot c o m and I'll take that nasty stuff out of your head.
@groovydjs Ok so Ry Cooder, Elmore James, Eric Clapton and many more ( including me ) have been wasting time for years. Thanks for letting me know. I will recommend your lessons to people who wants to play like their teacher and not like themselves
@murphysound ..........and then in walk dumbasses like this. Yes, I have no doubt that you have wasted your life, and now my time. I always encourage all of my tens of thousands of students to NEVER copy anybody. You have one foot in the grave old man, you can put that other one in there anytime you want, you won't be missed.
@Heahmount Thank you very much. In the beginning licks, I play with my right hand (with the pick) only one time and then the fingers of the left hand are actually plucking downward in order to make the next note sound. So, once with the pick, then the next 2 notes you hear on the same string are both plucked with the fingers of the left hand on the neck.
@UnknowDude1 My bad. lol I see now. I just had that strap out a few days ago too and was laughing about the red hot chili peppers on it. lol DUH. I'm sorry my friend.
Scott's vids are the best. They are inexpensive, and packed with good stuff... I've bought some and will buy more... it takes a while to get through them because he really packs them.
@awfulguitarnoises Thanks very much my friend. A good plug from a great customer is always a most welcome thing. I always try to give people way more than they pay for. Money is hard to come by these days and guitar lessons (especially at music stores) are usually costing 10 times more than they are worth. I try to give 10 times more than you pay....the way it should be, plus, you get to keep them forever for brushing up when you need to. Thanks again!
I have learned more from scotts free lessons, and his dvd lessons, in one month, than I could learn from most music teachers in 3 years!, he cuts through all the boring stuff , shows you short cuts, and little tricks, so you can get to playing music and have fun , one of the best music teachers around!, thanks scott, for all your free lessons on youtube, and all the great dvds you have put out.
@georgiareb55 Thank you so very much my friend! I'll keep on putting out the DVD's and the freebies as long as great folks like you care to have me do so. I really have a ball doing them and even better, I'm glad that you find them worthy enough to want to learn and include into your playing. Again, thank you for your kind words and of course for the great plug!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've been doing similar to this already. With a couple minor changes and practicing on the speed I think I'll be using this a lot and I'm sure I'll be taking this elsewhere. Thanks for your time!
I see this attitude of entitlement all over YouTube and it makes me sick. Cant people just appreciate what other people such as this man are doing for others. By the way Sir, great lesson and Thank You :)
@Discerner1999 I hear you my friend, and it seems that musicains are the worst for it for some reason. Thanks for taking it all at face value and simply for what it is. Much appreciated.
Yeah me too, it's kind of funny but I was studying Keith's style with open G when I came across your lesson. As soon as I finish with Open G, I'll take a look at your video mate. It's great anyways thanks a lot!
The "OPEN" that I was refering to was the use of open strings, not the tuning. Sorry for any confusion. Us country players refer to these as OPEN string licks, no matter what the tuning is. Thanks my friend.
Just a reminder kiddies, nowhere does it say open G tuning. If misunderstood, be sure to type in opn G TUNING. They are 2 entirely different things. Thanks.
That would have been better, yes. It's just a country thing. We country boys always call these licks, open string licks, not to be confused with open tuning licks. It's just a matter of which side of the tracks you were raised on. LOL Good point though.
You are correct, I wasn't refering to the tuning, I was refering to the "OPEN STRINGS' that are utilized. It's a country thing. Country players use the term "OPEN" to mean that there are a lot of non-fretted notes within a lick. It's simply a Nashville coined term.
There are a couple of things of me live here on you tube and I have a page at Reverbnation . Com (just put my name in once there) and you can listen to som of my origianals. I play all of the instruments on them. They are just home recordings. But, the only thing I have on the web.
Cool lick, from a cool player. Man, you make everything sound cool. I'm a fan. Have you recorded in a band that I can listen to? It'd be great to see you play live.
that guitar is beautiful what kind is it?

but i was searching for lessons in open g tuning when i found this, came back to this one though, thanks good lesson.
