In the event of two black holes colliding, and both have equal mass and density will they either combine or destroy each other..... Well in this sense have the same outcome..
@Jet3010 @TAz69x If you consider that a black hole is just an enormous amount of matter with super gravitational pole, the greater black hole will absorb the other just like it would any other body, and add it to its own mass making it even greater and more poweful
theres a black hole in the middle of our galaxy right? if any of the stars going around it anywhere in the galaxy was to collapse (we have another black hole) what would happen then?
@Jip4head Nothing in the sense you mean. The mass of the star which became the black hole was something larger than the mass of the black hole. A large portion of the mass of the star was blown off in the supernova event. This material will eventually condense in a new star system forming the heavier elements inside potential planets. The mass of the galaxy as a whole has not changed. The mass of the star remnant has only been concentrated into a smaller area. This has no effect on the galaxy.
@Jet3010 There's some interesting calculations that show two converging black holes can bend time to even a reversal. There's some good books on it; it's really cool stuff.
@Jet3010 they merge to form a much larger black hole. There have been theories as to what happens to space and time near the black holes as this happens; for one, time bends severely, (even into reversal,) another theory is that time projects itself outward as a ripple... it's pretty intense sh*t, my friend O.O
"...not only has nobody ever found an event horizon; there is no laboratory evidence that such things exist. All reports of black holes being found are just wishful thinking - patently false ? unless you can provide the coordinates of a verified infinitely dense point-mass singularity and a verified event horizon. But there are of course, as you know, no such coordinates, because no black holes have ever been found." ~ Stephen Crothers
Ohthat is very bad thing to say... It's cause inteligient people ignore and forgive idiots, we got now idiots running countries and tell us how to live.
You know when you go deeper in the ocean the pressure gets stronger, right? Well, do you know why it does? all the weight from the water above you is pushing on the water below. Now ALL of the stars and mass of the galaxy also pushes down on the center of the galaxy. I don't think the black hole creates the galaxy I'm assuming it's a result of the galaxy.
You can see a black hole in a way it distorts light like a lense as it passes infront of distant galaxies and the enviroment around it is drawn to it and visible only the light already in the black hole is invisible.
the name kinda explains y can see it 8-| o light = darkness , black hole is black therefor cant be seen in darkness thats aside from the fact that the gravity in them is so strong not even light can escape

who is stephen hawkins? I don't belive in black holes because if u can't see something how do you know its there. And if einstein didn't belive in them thats all the proof i need.I think its a conpiricy like ufos to scare the public and you must be stupid if you belive the american govenment and their made up belifs about black holes.
you can't see the black hole but you can see the gasses and dust and light around it, and they have videos of black holes sucking up stars and suns. So basicly you can see it, but its just all black.
you still cant see it but you can see signs of it from gas and other matter around them so it would look like space with gas coming into some part and Richierich301 is an idoit
Arrogance is good. Maybe not as he is. But, to an extent arrogant people are good! Arrogance comes from confidence. Confidence comes from over exceeding expectations. So if you ALWAYS exceed what people expect you tend to get a bit on the arrogant side.

@SorrowSacrifice You're leaving out gravity's relativistic effects on spacetime confirmed by General Relativity, and gravity well time-lensing

@TAz69x i dont think you know what your talking about. If they actually come into contact they would just become one larger black hole
FIGHTFANNERD3 9 months ago
@FIGHTFANNERD3 This is directly from Hawkings' and some Kaku and NDTyson work, but also a part of my studies two semesters ago
Remember, spacetime is uniform, hence gravity's lens-effect on time
TAz69x 9 months ago
@TAz69x I dont understand. How is that possible? Please explain, I am very intrigued. (Or link to a site that explains. Or other source).
indigojack99 7 months ago
@Jet3010 that would be the equivalent of successfully dividing by zero
DustyPengwin 9 months ago
@Jet3010 then the one more mass will eat the one with less mass

@Jet3010
which ever one has more mass and has a smaller core would suck up the other one :p

@Jet3010 its believed that one of the two would push the other in the opposite direction but its only a theory.

The reality is that if you fell into a billion solar-mass black hole, you wouldnt feel it. At least for the first hours.

Hightlight Question!
KriSaku 2 years ago
you can infer their presence by their gravitational effect on nearby stars and the gravitional lensing of light from distant stars
Rafterman123 2 years ago 2
by watching nearby matter be asorbed by one.....no one can see a black hole..we see them tear stars apart
rushvillestoner420 2 years ago
gravitational lensing. Good question for a 5 year old. Come up with something tougher before you get a bright idea to stump someone.
