  • lol easy street was funny

  • Andrea has got some lungs on her!

  • Dorothy Loudon is, hands down, the best Miss Hannigan!

  • tha cast has real talent

  • Andrea is my favorite Annie. No-one is as natural and what a voice. She never sounded like she was screaming.

  • AMAZING!

  • Wow! Such energy. I saw the show a couple times when it was new.

Now this kind of show is considered old fashioned by many, but it's

the kind I like. Thanks for the fun post.

  • i actually love the dancing!:D

  • Can't you just hear James Lipton saying, "Ah, a true delight!"

  • I took note from actress/singer ANDREA MCARDLE,When i auditioned for "ANNIE GET YOUR GUN" we also danced to "I'M AN INDIAN TOO" which i enjoyed greatly and i am NATIVE AMERICAN part,My director for my JHS play said she directed this play and was the choreographer,if not this then "ANNIE GET YOUR GUN" the original therefore i had to impress her at my audition, and i succeeded,in elementary school i played the lead role of "DOROTHY" for play "THE WIZ" i had singing courses in grade school.

  • I enjoyed this play as a child, and in my eyes no other ANNIE could blow like ANDREA MCARDLE,especially singing "TOMORROW" she wud make your hair stand on top of your head and give you goosebumps,i didnt get that from others,I did enjoy the movie version,in JHS i was in play "ANNIE GET YOUR GUN" i was a singer/dancer i remember song lyrics "FOLKS ARE DUMB WHERE I COME FROM<THEY AIN'T HAD ANY LEARNING,STILL THEY HAPPY AS CAN BE,DOIN WHAT COMES NATURALLY,And we did a cute farmer's girl dance.

  • does anybody know where u an see andrea mcadle sing maybe when she was annie? i lov her and thats my favorite song

  • My cousin Bob Fitch the bum singing easy st and about 5.10 into this one

  • My cousin Bob Fitch the bum singing easy st

  • There have been some amazing Annie's but Andrea is it. The one and only Andrea Mcardle.

  • When our civilization goes ultimately down, maybe they'll give us credit for a bit of style?..,Hiistorians say our optimism was unique

  • wow this show came out in 1977 the same year when Star wars came out! I have this on vinyl record. but damn I was born in the wrong generation.

  • Does anyone know where i can watch this whole original musical? Please help!

  • Who ever thumbed this video down is a complete jerk

  • Combine Carol Burnett and Kathy Bates, and you have Dorothy Loudon. LOL! This is the best Easy Street number I've seen!

  • Andrea McArdle and Dorothy Loudon were born to play Annie and Miss Hannigan. They perform these songs and inhabit their characters like no one else has or will.

  • one word... TALENT! Such talent oozing from all of these performers, but especially Louden and the others in the Easy Street sequence. There is nothing like this anymore and never will be again. I'm so glad this gem is on Youtube.

  • as much as mccardle owns the role of annie, louden owns the role of ms hannigan

  • No other "Annie" play or movie can top the original broadway play like this one from 1977, EVER !

  • Aww. The doggy is camera shy! :)

  • watching this is to see what broadway really was or is.

  • I just saw Andrea McArdle in Limelight and she was amazing!! I can't wait to see her play Miss Hannigan in Long Beach!! What an honor to be Annie on stage with her. Those girls are so lucky. Just playing Annie was a dream come true. I can't think how amazing it would have been to be the first Annie and see how much the word loved her.

  • I remember listening to the OBC album when I was little all the time, so she definitely. I've heard many others, but no one can top her. I did this in 4th grade, brings back memories. She was my inspiration.

  • No one can touch Dorothy in this role!!! Pure Talent!

  • Dorothy Loudon is just astonishing. THAT's what Broadway used to be.

  • This video is simply astonishing. I can't thank you enough for posting this. I was a huge fan of the show as a kid, seeing it about 13 times, but because I waited to see it until I could get 1st row seats, I missed Andrea and Dorothy. I saw almost all the other Broadway Annies. I may have missed one. These numbers are classic and the talent is not to be believed. Thank you!!

  • BOBBY!!! You're the man.

  • stupid

  • Thank You so much for posting this. Seeing this old clips really made me so happy even if for a moment. It's funny Andrea McArdle and I are around the same age ( in our 40's). Funny how as you get older the simpliest memories bring such joy.

  • those girls are so amazing it makes me cry :')

  • gawd the singing is awful

  • @rachisthebest0405 This was the original Broadway cast. Andrea Mccadle was awful?

  • @Tolstoy111 thats what i said yup.

  • Could you upload the whole play?

  • I've watched this a thousand times only it doesn't show 'cause i've downloaded it.

  • anyone noticed her eyes/expression remind of paul mccartney of the 60s?

  • omg one of the most beautiful songs ever written tomorrow.

  • shivers every time

  • Isn't McArdle really a young Greta van Susteren?

  • love it

  • thank you so much for those of us old enuf to remember all of this unfolding..cast..crew..show..what memories

  • Andrea set the standard to that song and has never been bettered. Just the best.

  • Wow. Andrea was incredible in this era. Her vocal ability in this decade blows my mind. Her voice is just unbelievable! But, thingd really screw up at 01:58-01:55. I don't know what the hell happened, but someone truly fell off key and screwed up. Horrible version of "Easy Street" I've EVER heard!! YUCK!

  • wow, i like this, but they look super creepy and robotic when they sing...

i like the movie much better...

  • I think one of the reasons she was so effective is that she looked ten but she was really 13 - she was a lot more mature than she looked.

  • Where did you find this?

  • I love this Molly!

  • I absolutely loved this. I saw the play two times. Once with Andrea McArdle and once with Shelley Bruce. I still remember all the words to all the songs!!

  • @Superallomate

    Who doesn't! : )

  • AWESOME

  • OR OUT, WHATEVA

  • THE SUN WILL COME UP, BILL FRANKEL!

  • She is sooo amazing. She looks so relaxed on the high notes it incredible!!! bravo!

  • the greatest musical EVER

  • Despite a strong supporting cast, the movie failed to do justice to the original performance. Nobody could replace McArdle in the title role, mainly because it was tailored to her talents. The "original" actress became her understudy. McArdle's original performance of the opening song "Maybe" still brings tears to my eyes, though her performance of the song as an adult fails to evoke the same emotional response. (She's too trained as an adult)

  • OMG!!!!! She has an amazing voice!!! I auditioned 4 this show and i really hope i get Annie!!!

  • i hope you do good luck

  • Wow, what a great treat to see scenes from the original production! Everyone is just amazing in this!

  • I'm constantly struck by Andrea's astonishing calmness as she begins to talk then sing. She's appears so relaxed it's as if she's watching TV on a sofa. rather than singing solo in front of thousands and then millions of people. Amazing confidence and talent.

  • @TheDrdd I agree, but then again, she did perform probably six days a week on a broadway stage, so this probably didn't seem too nerve wracking

  • um, do all you younger viewers realize that Andrea McArdle *is* Annie....? Everyone after her was just *playing* Annie, but Andrea was THE Annie....

  • Actually the original-original Annie was played at the Goodspeed oprea house in Haddam, CT

  • AMEM AMEN AMEN AMEN she IS Annie there has never been anyone even close to her

  • @kitesandstuff i agree with you tottaly, but Kristen Vigard was before her, she did the first two shows then got fired and Andrea replaced her because kristen was too sweet and cound not play such a tough role.

  • @kitesandstuff well The Annie was from the comic strip, she, and everyone els after words just portrays Annie, Originaly annie was from a coed Orpanage and the Mr. Warbucks story was just one of the many tails. Born on a Leepyear annie raged from 1928 to 1934 in the comic strips. And originaly like how the 1989 Annie (the most acurate portryal of annie in both looks and sound) Annie has a red Curly mop hairstlye and Orpanages were packed during the thirtys not just haveing 7 or 8 kids.

  • @kitesandstuff no watch the one from like 1932 or something or the 1987 one...the one with the red hair..thats the REAL ANNIE>>since it was filmed in the 1930's

  • @kitesandstuff And Dorothy IS Hannigan!

  • Dear Annagitana, Ms.Brisbois also appeared on"Archie Bunker's Place!". I didn't know that she wrote songs for Ms.Kelly Clarkson

AKA Mrs.John Travolta? I'm gald that she's keeping up with her singing.

  • Wrong actress. The person that was on "All in the Family" was not Andrea McArdle her name was Danielle and she was an orphan not Annie in the broadway musical. Get your facts straight.

  • Danielle Brisebois did play a role of an orphan in the original 1977 Annie, I believe she was Molly, as seen in this video at 2:39 - 2:53. Danielle was later known as Stephanie on "Archie Bunker's Place." I got my facts straight, do I win a prize?

  • I was lucky enough to meet the actress and singer..who first played"Miss Hannigan"in the original Broadway stage production of"Annie!"..Ms.Dorothy Loudin. She was nothing like"Miss Aggie Hannigan!".Ms.Loudin was a talented and a very nice lady..sadly,she left us all too soon.

  • Somewhere in that group of orphan girls..is a talented, little lady by the name of Ms.Danielle Brisbois. I wonder whatever happened to her?!(LOL!).

  • She went on to play Stephanie on All in The Family and did some other acting. As an adult, she became a musician. The Young Radicals or something is her group. She writes songs for other singers like Kelly Clarkson, I think.

  • Alot of people have sung the tune"Tomorrow"?

But? You can't beat the original performed by the brilliant

    and poigent Ms.McArdle.

  • The kids are great - but Dorothy Loudon, wow, a comic genius!

  • Andrea kicks ass and blows other child singers (cough, Miley Cyrus, cough!) out of the water.

  • That's a very Michael Jackson-esque move that Rooster does at 8:38 haha

  • Just wondering, but where did you find this so you could post it?

  • That tap dance solo was incredible and so freaking adorable!

  • love your videos keep up the good work

  • Andrea McCardle was the best Annie

  • 100% agreed. She is so talented!

  • lmao, 5:10...her hair caught me off guard :)

  • Oh my God. So. I've totally fallen in love with Robert Fitch's take on Rooster. I love his dancing! hahaha

  • He looks seedy and slimy...just the way Rooster SHOULD look! I thought Robert Fitch and Dorothy Loudon were perfect.

  • Sarah Jessica Parker, Molly Ringwald, and over 40 other Annie orphans reunite to reveal the truth behind the curtain of the Original Broadway show! Heres your chance to watch the ENTIRE film: youtube [dot] com/watch?v=0vtIwZU-nEQ

  • My niece loves this video. She's six. Are there any other kid-friendly musical vids anyone can recommend?

  • "Les Miserables".

    Or, "The Sound of Music"

  • or avenue Q! I guess she'll love "internet is for porn"!

  • Les Miserables? For a six year old? Haha, maybe not that. Maybe The Wizard Of Oz?

  • If your niece likes this kind of music, she might also enjoy clips of musicals from the big studios in the 30s and 40s, there are tons of clips on YouTube from movies w/ great songs like: "Meet Me in St. Louis", "The Harvey Girls", "Easter Parade", "Singing in the Rain", "Funny Girl", and if she likes "Annie" she's bound to love "Oliver" (basically the same story). All these old musicals have beautiful scores, great voices, & they're pretty much all kid friendly.

  • @LulusPieShop hairspray

  • Wow, the original. Awesome. Thanks for posting. Still the best ever!

  • all the mollys in annie are cute however the most cuteist one was molly from the first movie annie

  • molly is cute can u put the first scene with molly maybe. pleaze

  • Does this molly have a speech impediment? Because when she says "that matters" in "You're Never Fully Dressed Without A Smile", it sounds not...right...

  • You mean how she says "That ma-HA-TURS!"?

Nah, there were other Mollys who said it like that.

  • Easy Street...that is a SHOW STOPPER

  • <3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3<3 I love this :)

  • i love easy street

  • The Easy Street number makes this easily the best video on all of YouTube. God bless Dorothy Loudon.

  • andrea mcardle is awesome. it wouldve been cool to see playing annie in the actual performance

  • this is soooooooooo awesome. i lvoe annie and i always have!

  • looks like Sandy was giving Andrea a little bit of trouble, walking behind her and tugging on the leash, sometimes hard. But of course, trooper that she is, Andrea tried not to let wandering Sandy cause her to miss a beat. This is actually not an easy thing to do with kids and animals and just shows that Andrea was very professional and capable on that stage with lots of guidance by Bill Burloni who trained Sandy.

  • Andrea McArdle is my second cousin

  • Andrea was Annie like no one else could be Annie. She didn't play Annie, she WAS Annie.

  • andrea is my second cousin

  • I cry every single time

  • i saw this original production on broadway...seems like a million years ago now....but what a GREAT cast and one of the last of the real classic old fashioned broadway shows....full orchestra in the pit (!!!) and all

  • WOW SHE IS AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

  • Absolutely, positively amazing.

  • Andrea McArdle, Dorothy Loudon, Reid Shelton, Robert Fitch, Barbara Ervin, and those orphan kids on one stage is like a luminescent bulb of star power. They are all incredible. No wonder this show was such a huge success.

  • i know and its no shock it was on broadway for a total of 2337 performances!

  • however she looks noathing like annie unlike alien quein who looked exactly like annie

  • surely you realize that Annie is a fictional character and looked different throughout various iterations of the comic strip, and with her curly red wig Andrea looked as much like an Annie as anyone.

  • dude, Andrea McArdle was the FIRST Annie. How could the FIRST Annie not look like Annie?

  • shut up that is the rudest thing i have ever heard she IS ANNIE and you are an ass

  • What's your problem dude? What did I say?

  • Technically, Kristen Vigard was the first Annie. She just never got to be on broadway.

  • Well, yeah, but she only played the role for about a week until Andrea took over the role at Goodspeed. So most people (myself included) consider Andrea to be the "first" Annie.

  • Does anyone have Dorothy Loudon's Tony win for Best Actress? Please post if you have - would love to see it!

  • Easy Street was AMAZING!

  • I know! It was awesome.. But I wish the camera was in good quality!

  • Tony Awards performance?

  • those girls were probably underpaid and overworked...

  • Probably not as they would have been Equity.

  • Awesome! I was born in '76 and in elementary school, I checked out the book a milli times, lol. Saw the movie about 2 milli times! I watched the movie again and I saw a really nice school production of it, this past wkend! My friends kids were in it. My 1st ever fav book and movie ;-)

  • could you beleave that this is where it all started the first tommorow the first hard knock life the first duffy the first pepper the first molly the first july and tessie this is where it all began lol i wish i was born in the 70s

  • andrea is the best annie ever!

  • Yeah she rocks!!!!!

  • easy steet is absolutely phenomenal. all three of them.

  • this simply cannot be reproduced by anyone. absolutely phenomenal

  • I remember how the reviewers raved about the delightful performance of Danielle Brisebois, age 8! They went nuts for her. So cute!!

  • I was actually at this show as a ten year old in New York in October 1978 ! ! !

  • who were you?

  • umm 1977 dont you mean

  • Can someone post the real show of this play?!

  • This is the best production of Annie ever... hands down. It must suck to try and follow this.

  • I can't think of anyone as funny and talented as Dorothy Louden except for Judy Garland and Barbra Streisand.I just watch her clips over and over and am besotted with her! How wonderful!

  • Don't miss Danielle Brisebois as the teeny one!

  • This was set in the depression times? and to think we're going through the exact same thing today...we NEED another Annie!!!

  • Wow! A classic; love it! Dorothy Loudon was faaantastic! (They all were.) Great stuff. Thanks so much.

  • on e of the greatest musicals ever, i wander if theyll ever release this on dvd, thi s is the best version done on stage , noone can do annie like andrea mcardle i remembe ri was in first grade, in 1979 , and my teacher had thi s album, and had posters al l over of the musical , and we did it in a variety show , i played an orphan, they mixed boys and girls too play orphans , becaus e not many girls in my cla

  • Lol Andrea =)

  • I knew Dorothy and she was TOPS! She never got the breaks until ANNIE. And she won the Tony-- not McArdle!!

A few years ago a Broadway vanity label was set to release a CD of THE FIG LEAVES ARE FALLING but at the last minute it fell thru. Anyone have it?

  • anyone know where one can get a dvd of the stage version. i agree it is the best

  • one of the greatest broadway shows ever!

  • As much as I love Carol Burnett and thought that she did great work in the movie version, Dorothy Loudon was, in a word, OUTSTANDING and will forever own the role of Ms. Hannigan. She was an amazing talent!

  • Wow, more entertainment value in that 10 minutes of excerpts from the original "Annie" than in the whole movie version (and the Disney TV version )

  • dorothy loudon is amazing. seriously. i can't get sick of watching her perform. hahaha

  • AGREED

  • UNSURPASSED

  • they got a long time on air. most show performances on the tony's are, like, 5 mins long.

  • The funny thing was Dorothy ,(Miss Hannigan) realy couldn't stand the kids in the production company ! She used to complain about them running around back stage all the time !!!

  • really? where did you here that?

  • Dorothy was a friend of mine , and I worked with her .

  • I read that she did get along with Andrea though, and that they remained friends even as Andrea grew up. Andrea really looked up to her and admired her and has said as an adult that working with Dorothy was one of the highlights of her long career.

  • how can I get the soundtrack to the movie?

  • at 2:40 the bigger one looks too old or too big or something. shes really good though.

  • damn those girls can project their voices. Love it.

  • gosh... the only good production of Annie EVER was this original. it has a very specific, wonderful charm about it.

  • i love this never fully dressed without a smile

  • this production was so damn good!!

Andrea McArdle was very close to being the youngest tony award winner for best performance by a leading actress (although she does have the record to be the youngest nominee). However Dorothy Loudon, equally and rightfully so, earned the Tony.

  • that was a great show.

  • who is the girl at 2:12

  • who is the girl at 2:12

  • the girl at 2:12 is

    Dianna Barrows

  • so great
